  1. That makes too little sense in a Cranley world.

Your absolute chance of winning only increases by 1:n (not 1x:n) with each additional ticket that has a new number combo.

Not that I think playing the lottery is ever a good idea, but your odds of winning are certainly higher the more tickets you buy. But going from one to 10 tickets purchased is statistically insignificant in terms of winning the jackpot. I'm not saying it's a good idea. The odds in both cases are incredibly low. But the fact is that it is statistically 10 times more likely that you'll win if you spend 10 times as much money (assuming you pick 10 unique combinations :P ). Not sure about that because I’m not a statistician but I seem to remember my Practical Logic 201 class at UC determined that the dumbest dollars you can spend are the second, third, fourth...dollars you spend on the lottery. Say your chances of winning with entry is 1:450,000,000. Spending money on one additional entry makes your chance 2:450,000,000. Ten? 10:450,000,000. It’s not 10x. Any mathletes check his for me?

    Oh, yeeeaaaahh!
  5. Yep. It’s a great story. Who wild have thought a bracket with UVA, UK, UC would produce a F4 rep of Loyola.

    I doubt the building survives.
  7. And as anybody called out Cranberry for being completely absent when the city could have used some leadership on this? Or are my expectations off?
  8. Meh. There are plenty of good surface streets to get folks in and out. You can use 471 and KY 8 from the east. You could hit 75 and use Fifth Street through COV. You could use Taylor-Southgate from several downtown Cincy freeway access points. Anyhow, this all sounds like the old arguments for Riverfront Stadium. The model for folks having a freeway ramp directly to their parking spot is an old attitude. It’s all about game day experience not in and out as fast as possible.
  9. I hope they don’t try to widen and put a highway connector through second or third street. Those look like nice streets with historic homes and good urbanism. I literally thought you were making some sort of joke about Concinnati and FWW until it dawned on me you’re talking about Newport.
  10. Anything involving a complete rebuild of an aren should be connected to either the casino and a new hotel or the convention center (with a new hotel). But that’s OT. I would be cool with NEWPORT just for the reasons you mentioned. Push those funds toward convention/hotel/arena.
  11. Not that we’re in disagreement that this is a total nothingburger. But...Which companies are these? Start wrapping your head around the power struggle that is apparently going on and who would be in the Mayor’s corner. Looking at that phone call transcript above tells me that Black has some real moxy.
  12. Thanks for seeing the sunny side but I’m thinking negotiations are over in the WE.
  13. There’s part of me that feels they are being pretty brave about it too. Further leads me to believe that the deal is done and this is all controlled brinksmanship so they both can save the day.
  14. And despite my comments about going to Newport, I think this is what happens as well, after some reflection. I think reasonable minds can agree that FCC needs to come a bit further toward what CPS wants and this is all part of the theatrics. There is an agreement in principle. CPS is obviously open to making it happen. Now it’s just deciding on price. Public negotiations like this serve dual purposes of both parties getting the best deal and the PR side of things as well. CPS wants to be seen as standing firm for their students and families and FCC wants to be seen as generous and cooperative. Things are blustery right now but I think you’ll see that a deal will be reached the last week of March. Edited: Typos.
  15. Is it just me or could this thing go to Newport? If I’m FCC, I’m just a bit to the end of my rope with all the Cincy drama.
  16. Yep. I really hate Nashville and it’s because I’m jealous the boom that’s happening there. For those that know, what’s fueling this? Where is all that money coming from in what was a sleepy southern capital until recent history?
  17. He gets those cars for free from Joseph. True story.
  18. After over 100 years of flooding, the bottoms were identified along with Kenyon-Barr as needing to be demolished and wiped clean as the city “reinvented” itself for the modern times. The Third Street Distributor began construction in the late 50s as prescribed by the 1948 plan. That began the 40+ year process that got us an almost flood proof riverfront. So, yes, the riverfront as it was ceased to be a viable neighborhood by the 1960s.
  19. Yeah. That sucks about NKU. Could have been back to back trips. Great seeing X and UC success. Too bad about Louisville. They will need to beat Florida State and then likely UVA to make the tourney. Kentucky is impossible to figure out. They’re in but without a favorable draw, I doubt they win two games. Thomas More women and Louisville women both look like NC contenders.
  20. I keep tabs on them and am proud that we have another D1 program in GCNKY. Additionally, there’s Thomas More College who won 2 women’s NCAA D3 championships recently. Thomas More will rebrand/reorganize as Thomas More University and move to NAIA later his year.
  21. Desperately needed. TP looks like it ready to be condemned and it’s appearance has to be effecting attendance especially among the younger set.
  22. Who are “they”? The only opinions I’ve heard are of Tillery et al who apparently don’t even live in the neighborhood.
  23. What hypocritical grandstanding by some of those pepole. "The West End needs a grocery store; the West End needs a drug store; the West End needs businesses," Thomas added. "It does not need a structure that changes the dynamics of the neighborhood." Well Thomas the current dynamic of the West End does not support those things. The only way to change that dynamic is to get more people to move there. You can't sit there and say you want development to come here but then turn your backs on the biggest and best opportunity the neighborhood has ever had. If you want the West End to stay as it is then it will continue to be a run down neighborhood with few amenities and businesses. One of two things are going on here. I do not trust these people at all. They are either being obstructionists because they see progress in the neighborhood as making them eventually obsolete. Or they are posturing ahead of time in order to increase the “pay off” they will get to label this as good and walk away.
  24. Hasn't money for the streetcar been tied to the federal funding that was received? Is that a path for putting heat on the city?
  25. College BB is just weird this year with all of the under-performing bluebloods. Duke is losing some headscratchers, UNC is unimpressive, karma is finally catching up to UK and we see that Calipayme is an average-at-best coach when he doesn't have 8 burger boys, Kansas has lost 4 games at home and is behind TT for the BXII lead, Indiana WHO?, UCLA WHERE? and Louisville...after catching fire and looking like a 4 seed, seems to be buckling under the pressure of the ACC slate with a young first-year coach. The tournament will probably have it's lowest viewership in quite a while, with faves floundering and the black cloud of NCAA ineptitude hanging over the game. The bright spot. XU and UC look like legit F4/NC shots. Wow!
