Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
My point. Didn't realize "suburban" was such a nerve-tweaker. But it's def an intended exaggeration. Yes, I am unashamedly all about height. Appreciate the breakdown on the "why" the two are similar yet different.

Wouldn't you rather have their convention center hotel rather than the one we are getting?

This looks like UC's athletic/training complex.

They get skyline-transforming. We get suburban.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
QCS is a turd. That's harsh. I've bemoaned the lack of new construction as much as anyone. But as the older buildings get built out with residential (which is good), I am hopeful that there will be continued demand that requires new construction. Besides, it's not like there has been zero new construction for hotel and rez. Methinks the deeper problem is the lack of leadership to push that development to The Banks.

Rabbit Hash replied to CincyIntheKnow's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentYes. I disagree that the Open has not been a game changer. Having that event here in our region is HUGE! It creates a heavy measure of economic activity down the 71 corridor into the city.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Central Trust Tower
I think it's been discussed but can't recall. Please tell me at least the PNC will be removed. Having nothing there is better. Alternatively, having... SKY CENTRAL ...in the old traditional red lettering like CENTRAL TRUST before it would be great!

I'm confused. Is he proposing to demolish the arena and rebuild a new one with a tower?

Rabbit Hash replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI have never been a convert-goer but one particular show I remember is a band from Louisville called Love Jones which had mild LA success in the lounge revival days. They ordered LaRosa's breadsticks for the whole bar during their set and were throwing them everywhere. LOL.

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
I'll take a contrarian view and say maybe it's a good thing. Is the consensus on this board that the companion is a needlessly bloated solution that really won't fix things anyway? Induced demand, hills, etc.

One thing that occurs to me is that, the exterior and the layout reminds me of The Omni in Louisville. Just seems to make sense for that simple reason. But what do I know.

If the Cincy hotel news was a 400+, we would be celebrating that particular aspect. As it is, with all of the repurposing that is going on downtown, Cincy's revitalization/growth of the core is almost completely concealed when compared to regional peers. So to me, it's one of those deals that when we do actually get new construction, it's deflating that it's not to the scale (height) of other projects in the region.

Agree. Is another hotel even on the drawing board for TB? The district should have aimed for three hotels. Those are in demand right now, no?

If it ends up being 300', then yeah, that's a downgrade in height. But this building is much more significant to the skyline than the "needle-like" Millennium both for it's broad faćades and it more modern and elegant glass finish. As far as 300' being the final height, in the renderings it looks to me that it is significantly taller than the 260' Hyatt. But admittedly the rendering is not an authoritative way gauge this. I'm counting 20 "hotel-short" stories of hotel over a pad of 6 "meeting space-tall"stories. So probably 300'. Looks like t's height siblings will be Kroger, Macy's, Enquirer, and 525 Vine. Not bad, but again, another in the long line of Cincinnati-shrinkage.
