Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Rabbit Hash replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Construction^They were a consulting client of mine. Glad to see they are headed to OTR. I knew it was in the plans and I'm happy to see it come to fruition. They are great supporters of OTR.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Encore
jmicha: Is it you that does the mock-up massing(?) renderings for us? That'd be nice. ;)

Cincinnati: Downtown: Encore
If we are entertaining ourselves with heights on this project it doesn't seem we should be underwhelmed with what looks to be a 20+ story tower. Guessing 250 feet. About the same as the Bartlett. ??? EDIT: That rendering does it no justice. I'd like to see more of an aerial.

I don't think they have anything to do with the video board...I don't think. I think they are a production truck contractor for networks. So they'd be providing the video, etc. for FOX. (?)

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
Me and the whole fam damily went yesterday. It was way more packed later in the day than when you were there (judging by the pics.) I'll post pics later. But, wow, it is world class. I was a little disappointed the Great Lawn is not opened yet.

Rabbit Hash replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionCincinnati is not unique in any of these respects, really. A truly thorough answer to your questions would require a walk through of post-war transportation, land-use, and banking policies of which there are people on UO that are much more schooled than I am. I trace most of American cultural foibles and the gutting of our cities to the automobile. In one instance, cars are both fantastic and horrific for what they have offered us all. Edit: Sorry for the OT. I missed your response thebillshark. I'll respond in the sprawl thread.

And it seems to me too that doing that block does exactly that...which is to allow the park to move forward south of it.

- Cincinnati: Downtown: Autograph Collection Hotel (Anna Louise Inn)
I said the Autograph was actually going to happen, I still am skeptical about the Bohemian until it actually does. The Autograph is more concrete at this point. Not to say the Bohemian wont, but it could be like the Holiday Inn project which has taken forever or the Hampton INn project which just opened. The Bohemian is where the Autograph was in say 2012 Minus, you know, the fact that they already own the building, don't have to wait for a new shelter to be built for the Anna Louis, don't have to go through legal battles surrounding the Anna Louis Inn, aren't waiting on a tunnel project to coincide with your construction, etc. Not really the same. This is far more similar to the Enquirer building rehab or the Renaissance. ^Why won't we ever get a 400' tall tower there? If it's mixed use that's not really that huge of a building. Heck, even if it's just residential that's still not really all that much bigger than, say, the number of units in The Banks phase 1 or 2. It's not much taller than the original scale of the building proposed at 4th and Race either. Nor is it a huge amount taller than the 300+ foot tall building proposed at 8th and Sycamore. There is precedent for this tower and our market has demand for it at the moment. I suppose you're right. Just feeling a little pessimistic about it.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Autograph Collection Hotel (Anna Louise Inn)
Will never get a 400' condo. And I'm selfishly disappointed that a company of their size is going with such a diminutive tower.- Cincinnati: Uptown: UC Athletic Facilities
WVU never had an invite from the ACC. Pitt/Cuse were invited to the ACC, accepted the invite before the the Big 12 invited WVU. Also, after Maryland announced for the BIG..........no guarantee that WVU would have been invited to the ACC, to backfill, over Ville. WVU made the right decision. UC, in a heartbeat, would go to the Big 12 if invited. Would I prefer the ACC with UC and ND joining full time.... yes. Big 12 > AAC easily. This. It's all working out best for Louisville and it should with their commitment to athletics going on 20 years now (hiring of Jurich). BigXII has been horrible for WVU but franlkly it was the best option at the time as it will be for UC. They must not be left out.- Cincinnati: Uptown: UC Athletic Facilities
Was thinking the exact same thing.- Cincinnati: State of Downtown
Good. I think the black looks much better.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Thanks! Those new vistas are awesome. The Banks and Smale are really giving us a new look at our city.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
And would it be accurate to say that Haile doesn't want there contribution to be eaten away by a perceived union contribution?- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
And how, why does the mayor have such a yearning to see this fail when he basically called a truce after he was defeated by council and agreed to make it a success?- Cincinnati: 2015 MLB All-Star Game
But you could also point out that the Game 3 vs. Dodgers had an attendance in a 52,952 capacity Riverfront Stadium of 53,276. Odd.- Cincinnati: 2015 MLB All-Star Game
I'm with ryanlammi. I think the buzz is huge. I feel like baseball has regained its popularity plus some since then. The Reds are averaging +30,000 per game (less than 2,000/game off their all time high in 1976) after a low of 22,000 post-strike in 1997. Yes, I know 2009 was even worse but that was more about franchise discontent than MLB problems. National League attendance is up almost 46% (1995-2014).- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
They always planned on putting something shorter there so it wouldn't block the views of the people in The Banks apartments. Originally this was going to be townhomes, but that got scrapped in favor of making it part of the hotel. Now we can all start speculating about when something will be built on the office tower pad at The Banks. I predict they will build a spec Class A office tower without a specific tenant in mind -- otherwise, they will lose the development rights. And, due to the recent incident, they know there is at least some possibility that they could be replaced by another developer. Bowdeya Tweh of the Enquirer is reporting on Twitter that the developers plan to build a spec office building on the final unused space at Phase 1 of The Banks. Now he's saying that it depends on the lending markets and that they are still looking for anchor tenant.- Cincinnati: 2015 MLB All-Star Game
^There will also be another vinyl wrap type display added to the side of the Carew Tower. It will be a ~300' tall baseball player. The performer at PBS will appeal mostly to young women. Also, the Sunday night Gala which will be held at Union Terminal will include a big name and a light show on the terminal.- Cincinnati: State of Downtown
Local? Isn't it the Joseph family that owns the most obvious lots in Sycamore and Broadway?- Cincinnati: State of Downtown
Yep. And they have been there for a looooong time.- Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
