  1. Is there enough we can say about the new, interesting vistas that the Banks and Smale are giving us. Wow! Thanks, Travis!
  2. Nice to see this project moving forward but it's a total yawn compared to what it was before it was Cranleyed.

Yep. If this ends up precluding future rail, then it's a net loss for our metro.
  4. This is good news. NoKY needs the airport to be an economic engine, whatever the source. E commerce will continue to grow in the foreseeable future and Cincy/NoKY has cemented itself as a key player. Kohl's, Amazon, eBay and others all have sizeable operations here.
  5. Interesting point, Jake. On two fronts, the fact that we now have a generation who has no idea what smog is and the fact that pollution has been curbed so well. Old photos of the skyline from the 70s and 80s show a shrouded city and soiled facades. I suppose the advent of cleaner fuels has had the most effect.
  6. How does one do a cost/benefit analysis on such a thing?
  7. You're surprised about this in Ohio. They purposely sabotage future transit options and then blame it on the fact that transit advocates don't "lobby" them enough.
  8. Yep. I lost interest in Taste when it moved to 5th for the reasons you stated. It's not family friendly either for the sole reason that it's too small.
  9. If it were his idea and it didn't create a negative perception for the streetcar, he'd totally be for it.
  10. The Main Street names that come to mind for me are Local 1207, BarrelHouse, Rhino's, Courtyard, Sycamore Gardens, Have A Nice Day, BAR. I even remember a short lived bar called Jail.

Reviving an old thread but I'm looking for my next flight of non-fiction related to cities, history, etc. Anybody ever read "Trams or Tailfins"?
  12. Yes. Cooters became Vertigo. The other place that was demolished up there was Burgundys/Prime Time. It had the worst garage ever. You could sense that all sorts of 1st degree felonies had been committed in it. I'm surprised the mention of Mr. K's and R Club didn't elicit a reaction. They were notorious for underage serving. I'm sounding like my parents when I say, it was so wide open back in the day. Demolishing those buildings on the north side of PRW was a loss. Although, I'm not sure how they would have stood in the way of the FWW realignment. I went to the Caddys at Surf Cincy one time. It was a cool concept but could easily feel deserted and unpopular because of its size.
  13. Quigley's Down Under and Cooters. America Live became Bourbon Street which had several bars. I can't remember the name of any of them except Cheyenne Cattle Club.
  14. Haha. The trip down club memory lane is so OT but so indulgent. I forgot about that whole Zavo's thing but Caddy's was really the forerunner of the teen club scene with their holiday weekend Sunday nighter teen shindigs. Metropolis was America Live waaaay back in the day. And two favorite names from yesteryear were Mr. K's and R Club. White guys with high-top fades.
  15. Well, for true tailgaters there are plenty of lots west and north of the stadium that are better suited than D lot anyway... No back to those "very friendly 50 year olds"...
  16. I got the joke right away FWIW. Thanks for the laugh and kudos on making the connection. I think seeking these roll down the street will go further than anything to put the kibosh on all the negativity.
  17. No kidding. Anyway we could trade out To Kill Tea Bag for the grocery at this point. I can dream.
  18. That was cool. How long was it in real time? (Barry Horstman would have been faster.)
  19. The HM route is signed to go around the east side not the west. So the construction on CH is not a factor.
  20. ^You must have some insider info.
  21. I may have missed it...apologies. What is the plan with the windows then? Will they remove the brick and replace with modern windows?
  22. So I'm hearing that Cincinnati is not going to set these up before the ASG. Apparently the perception around the state was "let's get this done so Cincy can have it for the ASG". Refreshment zones Cranceled. More needless Cincy drama.
  23. Not to throw things OT here but what is the planning/traffic management rationale for two-way vs. one-way or vice versa? Answer in a more appropriate thread if need be.
