  1. Hweat Thins. ;) Was it McKey? I could have sworn unheard him say "The Over-The-Rhine".
  2. Non-Game Action Musings from Rutgers Vs. Louisville On a recent visit to Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium (PJCS) we asked our standout staff photographer to capture something different. What we were looking for was something that took the focus away from the on-field action and put it on what makes our enjoyment of gameday possible and some of the details we completely miss. PJCS offers a unique experience. Uproarious tailgating, a stadium built on an old railroad switching yard, jet flyovers reminiscent of old Shea Stadium and panoramic views of downtown Louisville and the iconic Twin Spires all combine for a target-rich environment. Here is just a little of what that night produced. Complete post: http://goo.gl/Lo6b2M
  3. Cranley missed his Tienanmen Square moment today.
  4. Anybody seen this one before? It was new to me. Unbuilt Cincinnati: Fountain Square and Government Square Cincinnati‘s Fountain Square has had a fair share of reinvention over the years. So too, have the surrounding blocks. Along with it were many proposals that didn’t quite make the cut. PE recently discovered this plan which we had never seen before. It proposes development for the “north side of Fifth”, which is now the current home of the aforementioned square and the Tyler-Davidson Fountain itself. 5. ^Well, only if he can manipulate it into a narrative like this: "The FWW caps will steal money from the other neighborhoods and take police and and fire off the street. Since I am fighting for the neighborhoods, I will be sure to wait until this project is half complete to cancel it."

Part of the giveaway is that the Coke bottle is photoshopped in backwards.
  8. Interesting connection of dots there, Jake. Thanks for sharing. To consider the transportation issue and the added effect it had on all of what you covered makes it seem like such a huge conspiracy...of circumstances, people or something else. I'm working my way through "Downtown: It's Rise and Fall" right now and the whole progression of cities from the industrial age to now is bewildering in its complexity and interest.
  9. It's not unlike hoping that the new McDonalds at Exit 159 will enhance the latest sprawl-terchange. This is a low visibility nook of DT that just needs some life. Mission accomplished. I'd rather leave the heavy lifting of trophy edifices to somebody else and some other project.
  10. Time for a rendering of their new DT HQ. I hear it will be similar to the Agbar Tower and the London Gherkin.
  11. What a crock. Sorry. This will not even register or be mentioned by C____.

Wow. That was something. Go Redlegs!
  13. But would we have to say goodbye to our beloved Wilkymacky Alley? Noes!
  14. I'm a little slow on the uptake. Can you explain? I'm guessing the point is that the entire half block between Clay/Main and Central Parkway/12th is the crappy architecture Salvation Army building, the gutted Davis Furniture building and a couple of surface lots. It seems like a perfect section for redevelopment especially considering the streetcar line. The problem is that the Salvation Army building is currently actively being used. They would have to be OK relocating to make it happen. I see. And that's what I assumed but I wasn't sure if Jake knew something was brewing.

With the Cards pushing ahead and the Pirates flailing a bit, it would be nice if we had 6 remaining v. the Cards instead of the Bucs. The Reds still have three off-days left. Most among the three principle teams. Looking at pitching match-ups for the Cards and the face-to-face the Reds have with the Bucs, the Reds will have nobody to blame if they aren't able to take advantage and win the division. Exciting stuff!
  17. You guys know me as a Louisville fan first and a Bearcats fan second. Heartbreaking. Both for Munchie individually and for the team. I was really looking forward to how a match-up of undefeateds on 12/5 would have focused a spotlight on both teams in the national media. Oh wells. Teddy for Heisman.

Glad this is a pain point for others too. I mean that in the best way. I have years of digital photos and scanned photos from the way back machine. To me I like to be able to use a taxonomy like: Year>Month>Event/Subject. Right now I do this by cresting a folder hierarchy with Windows folders to force Picasa to handle them this way. For example: 2012>August>My Wedding Using this, Picasa - for example - will organize the folders for me as long as the date tags are correct. The date tags are no problem for recent digital pics because they are date stamped. however, older digitals (that have been transferred from HDD to HDD over the years) and scans of prints have incorrect date stamps. In this case, Picasa will put them in chronological but it may not be in the expected spot on the folder list on the left. I wonder if I am missing something given that Picasa has the option to create "Albums". Am I handling my organization at the wrong level? (Using aptly named MS Explorer Folders) Should I just be importing and letting Picasa do heavy lifting? How is that best done? I am not married to Picasa. So many questions, but that should get it started.

I'm looking for advice on the best way to organize my photo library. What do you use as a local client to organize? What cloud storage do you use to sync to? Etc.?
  20. Roebling or CUT. Cincinnati would not be Cincinnati without them.
  21. So wait, is the HQ a separate project from the condo tower? Dumb question I guess. But from what I am reading we will get condos and an HQ built on a garage base at 7th/Culvert. Those lots at 7/Culvert are huge and dying for something. Which one is it exactly that is the site? Seeing what it does for that cove of DT will be interesting. Furthermore, if the tower is a trophy, the drive into the city from I-71 will be all the more spectacular.
  22. j: Can you throw in a Fountain Square West (or whatever it's called now) on those? Also, check your PM.
  23. Well with the "opening" yesterday, I thought I'd insert a blog post with some pictures from 2005 that was obliterated in the meltdown. USquare, University of Cincinnati in 2005 FEBRUARY 8, 2011 1 COMMENT These photos were never really intended for publishing, just for our own documentation purposes here at PE. We presumed they would provide a nice record of regress/progress in the neighborhood should we have one of our common fits of nostalgia years later. They do. 24. I'm mobile but isn't there a graphic up thread showing alts for right sizing the facilities? IIRC, at least one proposes keep B, correct?
