    91. Not a designer but have an eye and a PS whiz.
  3. I remember years ago booking flights through CVG to other destinations and then just getting off at CVG and discarding the rest of the ticket as the result was cheaper. That is the way things work in the airline industry. Yep. That old trick. Then, IIRC, 9/11 put a stop to those shenanigans. I think they threatened incarcerating me one time. Kidding.
  4. Compile list of "projects that need to be done" by July, 2015 here. The cage liner had an article speculating what Cincy will look like. We have 30 months folks! Banks - Phase 2, (3, etc.) Banks Office Tower and Hotel Riverfront Park Streetcar Fountain Place Condos Casino Hotel (EDIT: NM, can't build before 2016) What else am I missing?
  5. This tweet is so maddening and representative of the childishness of it all. An obstructionist is now complaining about missing deadlines. That's rich.

  7. All I can say about this is "it's better than nothing at all." That's a shame.
  8. I wrote an article on UrbanCincy on Monday about Nippert Stadium expansion options and included these "dated" renderings. I don't know if they're referring to my article inparticular or just as part of the overall "floating around on the internet." Either way I clearly specified that these were older drawings so that readers wouldn't be confused. I hope they weren't making that snippy comment towards my site. http://www.urbancincy.com/2008/12/can-nippert-stadium-really-be-expanded.html BTW, a commenter on a recent espn.com story commented about the renderings they saw on my website and traffic has spiked significantly. Today alone my traffic has quadrupled from its normal traffic levels. Needless to say this story is drawing some attention. UncleRando: I was looking for these old rendering but the link to your site is no longer valid. Nippert expansion announcement is today.

    Sad to hear. RIP.
  10. That's going to fill in that space quite nicely.
  11. Agreed. the UC towers will look fantastic when complete. No indication of how hideous they previously were. What exactly is contained in the windowless portion? Guest rooms? Open floors?

To beat a dead horse: What a failure passenger air has become at CVG. I'm sure it has been said and analyzed what with the departure of Chiquita but it is/will be a huge liability for attracting and retaining our large corporations.
  13. Stumbled across this the other night and thought it was relevant to this discussion. http://www.ted.com/talks/jonas_eliasson_how_to_solve_traffic_jams.html
  14. Fourth and Plum would be the first that comes to mind. Also, the lots near St. X. I've always like the idea of the next significant addition to the skyline have some separation in the same way Kroger does. It has a way of giving the skyline a more expansive feel.
  15. There are three more renderings on Page 76 too.
  16. So that's a good thing, right? Wasn't the Beer HOF idea proposed for this space anyway?
  17. Hmmm...an Albee theater. Street car lines and some strange building on FS.
  18. I'm not familiar with the area at all but I was over there doing some work at the Milacron site. Interesting all of the embedded rails in the old pavement. Sad that they will be ripped up and can't be repurposed.
  19. Worst...combover...ever.
  20. Good observations. If I'm not mistaken, all of the FWW grid bridges (Vine, Race, etc.) are post-tensioned box girder. I managed the installation of the C/S "tunnel" under the 3rd street expressway (US 50). I have a friend who is with the Corps now but designed several of the bridges for FWW at the other end if the project. I'll see if he has any further insight.
  21. For being a visitor you had some classics and a few unique angles in there. Nice!
  22. I'm not a CE but I would assume it is over-engjneered for what tends to be shorter and less earthquake-resistant applications in Ohio vs. Cali.

Agreed. The Scots-Irish were/are hard-nosed, independent pioneers. I'm inclined to believe that they were pretty accepting of others of the same ilk. I suppose the idea of "staying with your own" was the more dominant creed. I'm sure someone else is more familiar with this history than I.
