Cincinnati: Historic Photos
While mostly focused on NoKY, the Kenton County Library has a great repository of historic photos.

Name your top 5 cities...
Haven't traveled enough internationally to give proper responses, so for the US: 1. NYC - What can't be said about NYC? It never disappoints. 2. Washington, DC - The center of western civs. Museums and scenery abound. 3. Chicago - Big, world class city in the Midwest. Great vibe and the lakefront to boot. 4. New Orleans - A party anytime you want but so much history and lore. 5. Portland - Only visited once but fell in love with the surroundings and the energy in the Downtown. Seems to be a good mix of attitudes. Honorable mention (because I have too much of a connection): Charleston, SC Cincinnati: Most of my life memories happened here and it honestly stacks up really well as a mid-sized American city. Good place for family and has access to everything cosmopolitans want. Louisville, KY: My hometown. Isn't as culturally bereft as most would think. Active arts, entertainment and architecture scene. Good parks.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Great streak! I guess we can say the Pirates are also for real at this point but I keep hoping for a collapse.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Nice. Where's that put us for the season. I know the schedule is favorable for good attendance the rest of the way.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
You guys would be jealous of my collection of hundreds of songs. All of Trammel Starks and most of the Network Music songs. I like the classic years the most. Before 2000. I say we lobby to have it as the ambient music on the streetcars.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Can't tell if you are kidding or not. I like it too! In the same way I love TWC Local Forecast music. Some video updates would be nice. Spring 2015 would be great timing for a potential MLB ASG.

Cincinnati-Dayton Megalopolis
Hard to compare those maps other than that I can focus on certain areas and definitely say "yep, the 2000 map definitely doesn't capture the fact that that certain area is definitely urban now". Daytonnati is definitely a metroplex now. 3MM strong! Why has nobody ever capitalized on combining the media market with a Cincy/Dayton news source?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Washington Park
I'm really surprised at the difference between what I get from this thread and what I hear on the local media. The nebulous "keep the park public" is such a non-gripe to me. I swear, people look for the negative. The park looks great. It's a resounding success for the city and the neighborhood and what gets equal share in the headline? Some 30-something white lady complaining that she hopes the public park will be public.

Newport, KY: Ovation
Rabbit Hash replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionThat rendering is laughable. While I'd love to see some NYC/Las Vegas style high rise density like that...well, you know.

At least families visiting The Banks will now have a restaurant.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Back on topic: Does anybody else think there needs to be a January through April/non-game attraction? Or could we just consider those the slow months/times. What would this attraction be? I guess I'm just feeling like a touristy/unique third option would be good. Maybe not. Thoughts? I would call the Banks energy and activity a resounding success for Reds games. Pre and post game atmosphere is electric. I'll be curious to see how this translates during Bengals season. Have we talked much about what kind of retail might work? I think a sporing goods store might fly.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Count me in the suburbanite supporter group. And most people in my network see why it makes sense and how it will benefit.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
After paying $50 for half a family meal at Johnny Rockets, I won't go back. They had their event menu in effect. By "event" they mean "option-less and exorbitant." Life expectancy 3-6 months.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I've voiced a little concern over the family options in the past. Since then I've taken my 6 and 3yo boys twice to MLH and they have been very accommodating and welcoming. The kids have plenty of choices for their own menus too. They even let us pick our own section to sit both times and it wasn't like the place was deserted - they were weekend afternoons. Outside, upstairs overlooking Schmidlapp was the best. Throw in a Bourbon Barrel Ale and both were wonderful visits. I consider the "no family options" argument null and void. ;)

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I can see why they would want the service not on Freedom. 10 stories for the next phase sounds nice. Need some height there. Get the office building in and will start to feel decidedly urban in spite of the bland architecture of phase one.

Whatcha Reading?
The book I mentioned, Fighting Traffic, focusses primarily on the transformation of the roadways in the first part of the 20th century. Thanks!

Whatcha Reading?
Can anyone suggest a good/definitive NF book on the transformative effect of the automobile on American culture?

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
Meh, if they treat it something like 303 Broadway I don't see why it would be that bad. The fact that the first, what...5 floors is garage is hardly noticeable. Just wrap that first level on the street in storefronts/small offices. Your thoughts?

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
Wow. Gotta love this news! While I kind of liked those squatty examples, I'll take 20-30 stories that will add some wonderful heft to the skyline over the corporate version of CAC any day. "3CDC still must ink a deal with a residential developer capable of funding, managing and owning an urban high-rise. That would add tens of millions of dollars more to the project cost but is crucial to delivering a complete project when dunnhumby is ready to move in." Could this be a sticking point? "The developer also must still determine how dunnhumby could expand on the site beyond its initial 250,000 square feet; the company wants an option to grow into five additional floors. 3CDC also must create enough parking to meet the needs of residents and workers in 2014 and beyond." This could be where the variance in floor count comes? It's taken years and many fits and starts but this will be a huge trade-up from the old 5th and Race Tower. Still aghast that Kroger w/couldn't get in there Anybody been to the Target in Atlanta's Atlantic Station? That would be sweet. And I echo mcadrenaline...Bring on the renderings!

Cincinnati - Downtown: The Long Road for Broadway Commons
There was a post a while back where John Schneider had some great inside on how the stadium deal (GABP) went down. In the streetcar thread it think.

Cincinnati: Evolution and Changing Perceptions of Urban Neighborhoods
He did mention that Cincy is 2MM+ so it would seem that maybe it was done to highlight the urban flight that has happened in Cincy juxtaposed to the rebirth of the core. ??? At the same time Ville's pop is spurious because it includes all of JeffersonCo as "city pop".
