Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
^What tiara?
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Agreed. From East/West it resembles the Amnesty International logo sans barbed wire. Well, not so much but...

^I like option 1, then 2. 3 and 4 don't seem to provide as much cover but are more visually interesting.

There is a local marketing firm that should be moving in soon.

Man you guys got me excited! I think a 1000'er would be horrible for the Cincinnati skyline. I still maintain that another 450' min./750' max. in the Plum Street lot between 4th and 5th would be the biggest "balance and mass value" to the skyline. Or it may be time for a skyline expander...like the Kroger building except further away from the mas of the skyline. How about a 300' hotel at Broadway Commons?

Cincinnati-Dayton Megalopolis
I still find it so interesting the story behind the surveying that happened in the Miami Valley and how the Symmes Purchase and the Land Between the Miamis is set to mag North and not true north. I forget who pointed that out on UO but so cool to know why the kink is in there.

Cincinnati-Dayton Megalopolis
Not sure where these are are but the metro area really starts to pick up around Piqua, then after Troy you really are in exuburbia, with villages like Tipp City becoming the cores for suburban development and a lot of ribbon development along country roads. On the Kentucky side I'm always astounded to see the subdivisions and developement as far south as the I-70/I-75 split (and there might be isolated development beyond that deeper in KY). This is a bit less evident on US 40, though, since development picks up closer in inside of Boone County. So its sort of a linear developement along the I-75 axis... Jeffery...some route typos there...I-71 and US 42 is what I'm sure you meant. To the point we could say Walton-Verona is exurbia and slightly south of the split. When is your next Louisville research post?

So Jake, did your book release happen yet? I've been out of the loop.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
Looks like we should be hoping for the Horseshoe brand which would be great play for Lexington, KY but not Cincy. OTOH, Harrah's Cincinnati has a nice ring to it.

What is being built in that last picture? QCS is just frustrating for me because I dither on how much I like it. From certain angles it just underperforms and then from other angles it does great!

That map leaves out NoKY. One thing I have noticed when you drive all the way through on I-75 is that you are in an urbanized/built up setting from ~MM 171 in KY to ~MM 60 in OH. That's like 80 miles!

There's something about the notch between the build and the bottom of the arches that bothers me...makes it look like a giant candle.

I'm a little incredulous that they haven't already booked a hotel and started construction...I men that location is PRIME!

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
^Probably not but he is a complete receiver. Long threat, possession receiver and his physical prowess allow him to get good YAC and block much smaller CB's. Ochocinco probably isn't a #1 either except in name. He has always been better served with a supporting cast like Houshmandzadeh, et al.

Visited PDX in Nov. of 2008...just thought of Cincy's potential the whole time as it related to PDX's progress.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
"In 1998, construction began on the approximately 1.25-mile stretch of highway. Originally, the plan included burying the stretch of highway completely in order to hide the highway eyesore from the remainder of downtown. However, that idea was overturned in 1996 because many people wanted to ensure that visitors to the city would be able to see it as they traveled through. New plans were completed and construction began." WTF?

^Yep. Was there at the Cincy Mall location a couple weeks back. Depressing surroundings.

I have tried so hard to fall in love with his design and I simply can't do it. There are only a couple angles which it looks good from. Covy Cutinthehill: To wide. Dwarfs other buildings in girth. Bellevue/West DT: Looks like the amnesty international logo without the barbed wire. 71 Cut: Best view. Trim the width by 25% and trade the tiara for another 10 floors with a couple of setbacks and a top similar to Chemed and it's a winner.
