University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
I need tailgating advice. I will be taking a large group to a game this year and need to know a good spot for 25 people to party. What is the best lot for location/price?

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
The only height we will get out of a casino is going to be in the form of hotel accommodations that would be built on-site or adjacent by another company. I can't think of any casino with any vert...well, maybe Greektown. BTW...I love the arena idea and it would definitely fit with plenty of space for casino/hotel on BC site. The other thing is that this would create a nice bookend for the CBD with The Banks on the south end...inevitably people would be going from point A to B and this would create alot of traffic for Broadway, Sycamore, Main, Walnut...

Sherman, you are awesome. I love RRG!

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
This the first pic I have seen where the size of QCS is underwhelming. I know it is because of perspective but it looks less imposing from this angle. BTW, I think this is the first time I have noticed how huge the floor plates are on Atrium II. If it only had the same footprint as Atrium I with same sqftg it would have been quite tall.

Thanks Sherman. I love RRG!

Pranks
When I fix my wife a bowl of cereal I put a fork in it. When me and my brother were kids, my Mom would leave us in the car to run inside real quick (it wasn't illegal or dangerous back in the day). We would turn on EVERYTHING. Radio, wipers, etc. Would scare her good when she put the keys back in and turned the car on. If someone leaves Ff or IE open on their PC, hit Ctrl+N as many times as you can.

Pet Peeves!
Since we are kinda on the grammar thing...and this is not a pet peeve but more of an amusing southern tendency that I give my Mom a good ribbing on: onced (once) twiced (twice) dest (desk) Speaking of licking fingers while eating:

Nice! Always enjoy your writing and photography!

^and as I imagine, it doesn't obscure other "talls" except from the more obscure/less popular viewing angles.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
^Yeah...sounds spurious...she was a Princess not a Queen. Either way...it makes for good ink. For a while I pouted and thought, "Hey, dispense with the hood ornamnet that adds 'artificial height' and just add floors on it and build it taller." But the more time passes I am actually really liking the tiara. It will be lighted internally, correct? (similar to Aon in L'ville)

I guess it has been said before but I am just now realizing how monstrous that crown will be at 147 feet tall!

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Awesome pics. Maybe just changing Henry to 20th where the streetcar would run so any historical significance could be preserved for Henry Street.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Yes. Bengal Drive, Pete Rose Way and Stadium Drive would be much better. In reality names like Front, Pearl etc. would be better.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Is that the 275 bridge between Taylor Mill and Cold Spring? TM and Wilder - Yes.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Isn't it named after a former mayor and if so is that not historically significant? EDIT: Named after a police officer.

IMHO...one of the more unique views of the Cincy skyline is from the AC Poweleit Memorial Bridge in NoKY. You are far enough away to see the entire skyline in context with the surroundings of the basin and it is directly in line with the N/S street grid. I know of no place further away that you can view the CIncy skyline from "head to toe" like C-Bus or Indy. CoviNew's skyline is is backdropped by Cincy's and you can see really well the relative height of all the buildings (DT's buildings look WAY taller than the stadia from here...it doesn't seem so when you are right DT). Carew looks anorexic. Anyway, QCSII is now clearly visible eclipsing GABP from this angle and since you have the perspective mentioned it is easy to envision 2/3 more height on what is there and WOW! Height and prominence are the words.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
No, the road closest to the river (Mehring Way) will be rebuilt with a new alignment to compliment the new Central Riverfront Park design. The road being constructed now is a new street that is part of the extending Downtown street grid. From top to bottom: Third Street, Second Street, Freedom Way (the new street you see), T. Berry Way, Merhing Way (within flood zone) The new road being constructed is Freedom Way which will travel from GABP to PBS and is the first street immediately south of Second. Berry Way (which now travels from GABP to PBS and offers access to Roebling will be "demolished" except for the area directly in front of NURFC.

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
South of 275 little work is being done until bridge decking is complete. Concrete pour is being completed on the westernmost lanes of redecking for the 275 overpass. This will complete the redecking. Sidewalk and curb work continue from 275 to Cardinal Way with final surfacing and striping having been done between Worldwide/Southpark and Global/Tanner. Paving/curbing and sidewalk installation is ongoing at the Park/Ride and the outline of the future roundabout is beginning to take shape. From just north of Graves to Thronwilde traffic has been shifted to the east on a temporary ROW. Westborough to Kara has also been move to a temporary ROW. All other portions are still on the old ROW.

Twin towers right now...almost. It is exciting to watch the progress. When you think about it, if you have lived in Cincy in the last ten years you havde had the opportunity to watch some pretty exciting projects spring from the ground.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Been lurking this thread for only a short while so apologies for my question in advance. I was up in on Calhoun and McMillan a week or so ago and noticed some of the asphalt ground down which exposed tracks turning from McM to W.Clifton. How extensive is the existence of old lines still buried under modern paved streets? Would any of these still be viably used due to gauge(?) or delapidation? Could the city be proactive in scouting this to use for a wider network? If used, could these "rehabbed/reclaimed" lines be used as any type of federal match? Again, I'm sure my questions have been answered but...248 pages... Thanks!

Cincinnati: Eastern Corridor
That's not even a boat ramp...well it is way further down. That is more what I would describe as Broadway's underpass for Mehring Way. The Ohio would have had to have been ~40 feet here.

Very little progress. Oh well....patience.
