North Bend Road (KY 237) from I-275 to Kara Lane – Work continues on curbs and sidewalks on the West side of North Bend Road as well as the Park and Ride. The final phase of resurfacing is taking place on the bridge over I-275 and involves the westernmost two lanes. ROW realignment work continues to the north near Treetop Lane and further north. Graves Road - Graves Road has now been reconfigured to flow through the partially opened roundabout as of June 15, 2009 and has been rerouted onto the new ROW.

CW: In your favorite my thought is that we will need a 400' on the left hand to start balancing out the old vs. new split in the skyline.

Minneapolis (Part VI): General Downtown + Randomness
I am not familiar at all with MPLS. How big is it? The skyscraper architecture is very eye-catching! Could have been alot of tall boring boxes that were made quite attractive with some good lines. Overall the skyline has a good pyramid shape and reminds me of a smaller ATL. The spoon probably drives the local heroin junkies crazy.

Cincinnati: Historic Photos
Yeah, I know I bumped an old thread but didn't know where to put this gem. IT seems this thread has the largest collection of historic photos (unless I have missed THE one.) Anywho...how would you like it if they never fixed the Kroger? Yikes!

Does anybody else watch the animation/look at the model or plans and wish they would have turned the building 90 degrees such that the broadside of it would have faced Sycamore?

Re: 237 Work is progressing well. No further word on the scuttlebutt the original contractor philandered the funds and underperformed to the point of incompetency while going out of business and mis-designing the radius of the roundabouts. Further curb work has been done on the roundabouts so the mis-design is looking less likely. Nearly all light fixtures have been installed along the road and in the Park/Ride. Right in/Right out curbs are being added in the commercial section. The bridge over I-275 is just about ready to have traffic rerouted so work can begin on the other side. The section between the Cardinal Way roundabout and the Graves Road roundabout had sidewalks installed in the past two weeks. Graves Road will be closed 6/8/09 so that backfill and realignment can be done. At this point the Graves/237 roundabout should become functional and soon after 237 will be on the new alignment.

UR...I remember seeing that now. Anyone care to venture guesses on th other questions that are still valid/relelvant?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I am still curious as to how a flood scenario would play out with this project. Some questions to ponder: Where will the actual flood wall be? What happens if it is over-topped? Will water inundate the inside of the garages? How would they clean them? What level would the Ohio have to reach to be at Freedom Way street level? Would this be a 100-year/500-year flood?

Wow. That was thinly-veiled in a refreshing way. Usually something like this would be more passive-aggressive.

Re: 237 Work was slow to commence this spring but is now back in full-swing. The scuttlebutt is that the original contractor philandered the funds and underperformed to the point of incompetency while going out of business. Word also has it that one of the roundabouts (at Graves Road) was constructed with too small a radius to allow for wayward semi-trailers to U-turn, thus staying out of the residential district. As construction continues this looks to be untrue for Graves Road (because outside curbs are in place as well as sidewalks) but could be true for the Cardinal Way roundabout (it seems cramped!) Unfortunately for a project that has seen its fair share of coverage there is no official word on this scuttlebutt from media sources. Apparently a new GC is in charge now. Work continues on curbs, sidewalks, storm drains and light fixtures. The light fixtures above the Graves Road roundabout are sadly standard FHWA interstate issue. Surely something more in character with the residential surroundings could have been found. The bridge over I-275 is now being widened and redecked to accommodate the additional lanes. Most of the improved road will follow the existing ROW except for the section between the Cardinal Way roundabout and the Graves Road roundabout. This section appears 90% complete but is waiting on key improvements so traffic can be rerouted. North of the Graves roundabout progress is much further behind the rest of the project.

Brent Spence Bridge through the years
There is a treasure trove of CITH/BSB and I-75 pics further south from the 60's 70's and 80's on the Kenton County Library website. Good ones of 75/275 jct. Kyle's Lane Exit. Mall Road. Even an aerial of the 71/75 Split in southern Boone during construction. http://www.kentonlibrary.org/genphotos/

Sherman...please know I wasn't trying to outdo your post. It seems that Cincy's losses are worse. I'd have to look closer but the KY approach for BSB was built in the same ROW for Willow Run thus limiting some/much of the destruction. Nothing like the West End. The Jefferson Avenue interchange was a disaster. It was dangerous (at bottom of hill with no accel/decel space + sharp curves), redundant (5th and 12th) and superfluous in it's use of space (cloverleaf design). By my research it was the part that chewed up the most fabric of the city. North of Jefferson...not so much. The church is either St Patrick or St. Aloysius. I think it is St. P. Why? St. A was at 7th and Bakewell and it burned in either November, 1981 or 1985. I haven't been able to find which date is correct. Can anybody help confirm the date and what church that is? It is facing Philadelphia Street.

Cincinnati: State of Downtown
Does Bootsy's have any signage up yet? The rendering showed a large top hat shaped sign that I think could really do a lot at street level for the place. Virtually every other restaurant has some type of sign, but when I went, Bootsy's only had the name on the door. If you were from out of town, you wouldn't even know what it was unless you went right up to it and looked in the door. Just went past yesterday and I saw a sign on the front.
