  1. That's puzzling. You say it never used to back up NB? Have driven it consistently since the late 90s and NB has always been an issue. Morning commutes are markedly better since pandemic and the Texas Turnaround. Anecdotally, I will say that it seems that the Texas Turnaround and elimination of the 4th Street entrance ramp to NB really improved the dynamic of that stretch. However, it seems pretty obvious that the short Kyles Lane accel to NB is now the bottle neck. It seems to have helped overall, but also has moved the bottleneck a couple miles south. In my feeble mind, I could see NB issues being almost completely resolved if there was a combo accel/decel lane from Kyle to 12th/MLK.
  2. Congrats, UC. This will be ugly as all get out.
  3. Man...so much hate for PBS, GABP, and TQL. Y'all are right. We just should have passed on building them. 😑
  4. Can't overstate how big this news is. In terms of stature, physical infrastructure that will be built, and just the region's psyche not being further beat down. I mean can you imagine this in addition to only have a few tower cranes up right now? (I keed, I keed)
  5. Doesn't an arena on the reclaimed BSB/spaghetti land make more sense since it could be directly connected to a convention center expansion?
  6. The overpasses at each end of the bridge are going to be in the stratosphere.
  7. Anecdotally, the elimination of the Covington 4th Street entrance has much improved things in NKY. When there is an issue, it is due to the lack of an accel/decel lane between Kyle and 12th Street. Do that and NKY NB backups would almost be eliminated IMHO.
  8. Do I remember reading somewhere/sometime that the original color of the Roebling was beige/brown?
  9. I would think that would be the opposite argument. $350M here is $50M less than there. I guess if you are a billionaire, then something may make it worth spending $50M more to relocate it along with all the other risks. I'm biased though.

Been pointing this out to the twenty-somethings I work with this year. I have had a bit of nostalgia driving around the city and seeing hazy vistas of the skyline like I remember from way back when.
  11. Wow! Where did you find that? I think I see Mr. K's. Also looks like the Burgundy's/PrimeTime building is getting started. Next to that I am spying a very old school McDonald's restaurant design.

Facebook has just become one long series of ads. I feel like I used to be able to flick my thumb for a lot longer and get updates from friends and see thing I wanted about real life. Now I find myself flicking for about a minute and then I just tire of seeing the ads.
  13. This is exactly how I read it as well. The KY flyovers will be an overwhelming presence. I feel bad for the folks who have dropped big money on the houses on Western Avenue.
  14. So that seems positive!
  15. That makes sense. Hadn't thought of it that way.
  16. So is keeping those tower cranes up while there is very little work going on economical? Between this and The Banks, our region looks like we can't get anything done. Been traveling a lot more lately and every city I go to has tower cranes around signature towers/projects. Us? Not so much.
  17. Man, please let this (or at least something close to it) happen!

Just crazy how well FCC is doing. I don't follow futbol as closely as the other sports, but what a source of civic pride they have become. Good days to be a Cincy sports fan.

Sounds like they set a record for the 3 game series.

This team gives me memories of the 1999 team that was so fun to watch.

I will say two things about the Reds: The rebuild is WAY ahead of schedule. Win or lose, they are an incredibly fun team to watch!
  22. Yeah...the renderings of the KY approaches do not capture how ridiculously high they are going to be. I would bet that the ramps will be the extent of the view from these.
  23. Oh man, I think I kept that Quiznos on 4th in business.
  24. Also a factor in that is how much house $1M buys in CA vs. OKI, apples to apples. I'd speculate that a huge driver is because the LA valleys are so extensively built out and the hills are prohibitively expensive to basically everyone. In OKI, we have the peneplain surrounding which are all usable land, so if I want to build in southern Boone County or Turtle Creek or Hanover Township, I can do so, and still have great connectivity to the metros.
