  1. Please make this happen!

Well aware. That doesn't preclude the Rays moving to Montreal and adopting the Expos name, AFAIK.

Send the Rays back to Montreal! Resurrect the Expos! Charlotte is a decent choice but the thought of MLB in Nash is blah.
  4. More like the sound of one hand clapping. Wasn't this like an $800MM project? That looks like $100MM at most.
  5. For all the money being spent on this, and that's what it's going to end up as?
  6. Another Cincinnati let-down. Matthews should have been the choice, IMHO. I'm sorry I can't give proper credit because I was quickly copy/pasting, but someone posted this prediction a while back. For those wanting height, you probably got robbed. Portman: 26-28 floors (300-340 ft) Matthews: 30-32 floors (350-450 ft) Inland: 30-32 floors (350-450 ft) NewCrest: 28-32 floors (340-400) EDIT: Looking at the $482MM project cost and the $602k/key. That adds up to 800 rooms. Is that how that works?
  7. I would imagine with a project like this, there are tons of elements of the project that are spec'd in. Back in my day with this sort of thing, they would do this and stop just short of naming a proprietary design, but would write it in such a way so that what they wanted was the only possible solution that could win the RFP.
  8. I'd argue that St. Louis is better. (And Comiskey, LOL!) Gosh that music was awful!
  9. More evidence that this whole thing is boondoggle mistake.
  10. Projects like this only happen in other cities...we will end ups with a Hyatt Regency clone.
  11. Sounds like a dog whistle for Matthews. I think that one seemed to be the rank-ordered winner based on a quick scan of posts right after the renderings were shared. It would be my fave...
  12. I had asked someone at the city about that. I was convinced they wanted to preserve them but couldn't.
  13. I was looking at the approaches in NKY.
  14. This project will end up being a missed opportunity in just about every way it possibly could. I feel like I could give these politicians kudos if I didn't have the strong feeling that it's just about throwing $1.6B at self-inflicted wound. And as far as it getting built, wasn't this thing supposed to be like $3B+??? Sounds a little short... I'll also add...looking at the renderings, has anybody else noticed how ridiculously tall the NB approach will be for the companion bridge in NKY? It will be a level higher that the upper deck (SB) of the existing BSB. That should be a hoot.
  15. #BringBackCarewLights We need a campaign "2 Light Carew"! Sorry.
  16. Been around football a lot in my day and his actions post-hit didn't make me think concussion at all. On the flip side of that, the fact that he popped up engaged with another player and nearly five seconds after the hit, fell over like a tree was highly concerning right away. Just not a thing you see on the football field as a reaction to common football injuries. And @Brutus_buckeyethat was my exact thing...had Hank Gathers vibe and then I thought of John McSherry. Lastly, there was an article about all the bad injuries that have happened in Cincy. Hamlin, Shazier, Burfict, Tua, McSherry, Pollack.
  17. I hadn't heard that. Bryan Brown was DC at Louisville with Satt. Brian Brohm (younger bro) was an assistant at Purdue. Could have confused the similar sounding names?
  18. Didn't intend to kick up dust about it, @PrestoKinetic. But there many occasions when a city will have both a Xxxxxxx Street and an Xxxxxxx Court. It is amusing to chat with Covington officials and point out the BLVD signs when they call it Scott Street.
  19. Probably the biggest Louisville fan on this forum and yes, other than the recruiting class he had coming in, I am fine with moving on. He was BIG TIME on the hot seat earlier this season to the point I thought they may let him go with games still to be played. In fact, that class was the only reason I saw for keeping him, despite the 7-5 record seemed to buy him another season with the AD. Hope he takes the DC with him.
  20. Should I post all of these?
  21. Covington Pet Peeve: The fact that so many people, Google Maps, and even city officials call it Scott Street. At no point on its entire length do the street signs read Scott Street. It is Scott Boulevard.
  22. Is there a question too of the practicality of integrating the skywalk with the Moody-Nolan redesign. Without chewing it over looking at renderings, they don't seem too compatible. Put me down for the Matthews. Also, I am really digging the rooftop concept for the CC.

    Yawn. Should have been rails.
  24. I'm with you on your point. On the flip. I could be wrong, but he literally did the opposite. He asked in the final paragraph if that is what it is like in other American cities.
  25. Anecdotal, but youth football participation is surging in NKY post-pandemic.
