I know, I know.. look for a story in a local news source some feel maybe too, uh, down on Cleveland at times.
  2. Couldn't make the money work was the rumor I heard as to why it was canned.

http://www.apieceofcleveland.com/index.asp APOC (a tenant) has a new website up and running, the photo's of the nice conference table was shot in a space that I hope to eventually have very big news about. WW
  4. anybody have a drawing or example of what wet pods and closet pods look like in action?

Thanks 8shades.. we actually joked in the office that the 44 sign could cause accidents, so be careful out there. BTW, here's PC Helps' space: Just about ready to move in!

I've got some photos of build outs for the brewery: And the new wind break and way finder for building 44 (it lights up): Hopefully some interesting developments to post in the next few days... WW
  7. hasn't that been clear for a while?
  8. Speak in Tungus building (or the Pit Cleveland), not eBlueprint building. No pictures to show right now, there are loose affiliations to some of the groups you mentioned.
  9. The 2nd and 3rd floor are being completely renovated and turned into loft/event space where our slow-foods/local-foods oriented cooking society will host events and have it's offices and have live/work space as well. The 3rd floor ballroom will also function as music event space, primarily focusing on the avant-garde. The ground floor will be used for retail space, but we may wait on the neighborhood. No more check cashing or wig shops needed. I know that the exhibit builders building is still being planned out for an historic renovation, lofts etc... The issue with the project going forward is the issue with all real estate projects right now: the banks have cheap money but are unwilling to lend it to anybody for real estate.
  10. not sure if it's Det.Shwy or OC, but Go Media is doing some pretty cool things in the old eBlueprint building on Lorain and 45th. On a note about the old Speak in Tongues space, it is pretty much a shell right now. If you had ever been in it before: all the ceilings are down save for the plaster cove on the 3rd floor ballroom. All the walls are down save for the carved hallway wall on the 2nd floor. Any and all stages are down. The bar is still there, though.

time to get in shape. the fitness center I mentioned earlier signed today to take 3,700 SF at Tyler Village. Nu Life Fitness will bring their "boot camp" style workouts here to the ground floor of building 44. Hmm.. I am getting a little beer gut from drinking too many Indigo Imp blonde bombshells.
  12. "and I am tired of driving to parma for decent indian food. cafe udipi needs to open up in det/shore! " I agree! There needs to be more good Indian restaurants in Cleveland proper. In Boston I had a choice of like 15 different Indian buffets to go to.. come to think of it, maybe that's why I lost 10 pounds when I moved back to Cleveland.
  13. It's not just a rumor, the restauranteur in question has a very strong name and knows how to build a client base in urban environments. This person has looked at a few places in Ohio City and Detroit Shoreway that could be considered "edgy" by many of the suburban-ites who come onto Market Square on the weekends.

we had a Beers of the World party on Thursday to give all the brokers a chance to see the finished spaces of APG and Analiza. We had beer and food pairings at different stations that included Spain, Turkey, US and Germany. There was a live band and a cheese and olive bar set up at the end of the tour. Cleveland's new economic developer gave a speech about some of the new plans she's unveiled to further Cleveland's growth, and everyone had a great time. Indigo Imp Brewery had a Milk Stout, a Belgium Wit and their staple Blonde Bombshell Ale they were serving out of kegs. I'm not saying anybody got drunk, but the party got louder and louder as the night went on. We were very pleased to host over 75 brokers at this event, introducing some to Tyler, some to our new tenants and some to new beer!

Yes, PC Helps chose Tyler.. I didn't want to comment on it because we actually didn't have a signed lease until this morning. I love Crain's, but nothing scares you quite like an article on a deal you're working on that isn't yet signed. SO: 50 new jobs growing to 100 right here in Cleveland. The guys we took around loved, loved, LOVED what Cleveland had to offer amenity wise, and were psyched to find living spaces downtown. On another note, we have another tech company looking at re-locating from the suburbs into Tyler on the heels of Sparkbase's decision to leave Solon for Cleveland. I also have a new fitness center planning on opening up here as well, as well as a cafe in the works. What else is new? How about a possible 40,000 square foot user growing to 80,000 over 5 years? Or two 10,000 SF users looking at us for office space? Things are rolling, maybe I should get on here a little more and keep the news coming. WW
  16. Not at all, government has strict controls over how much alcohol content is in each drink, how much a person can serve another person and how you buy it (in Cleveland you can't buy hard liquor with your credit card). The unregulated booze that was coming out during prohibition was much more dangerous and volatile than what you can get now. As for people abusing the laws, that's true in EVERYTHING. It's hardly symptomatic of alcohol.
  17. I'd legalize everything but I'd also put in government controls similar to what we have with alcohol. You would see less harsh versions of the drugs become available instead of the uncontrolled street versions. It would allow the police to police alot more effectively, imo. It would also allow me to tax the bejeezus out of drug sales to pay for all the various treatment centers and health professionals that I'll need once it is legal. Currently you and I pay for these services while Mr. Drug Dealer gets his 85% profit (or whatever the number is). Legalizing drugs won't be pretty, but it would solve a ton of real problems while allowing society a chance to create an infrastructure to deal with things above board, instead of chasing this problem in the shadows.

FYI: Sparkbase signed on today. While it was already reported by Crain's a while ago, the deal was actually finalized this morning. They will move their offices from Solon downtown in the early spring. On another note, it looks like a small cafe will be operating here at Tyler pretty soon.. I will give more when I get more. WW
  19. Ohio City Near West has a new director? I saw it in the PD but didn't take note, anybody have the name? (couldn't find it on cleveland.com)
  20. Does anybody have info on a Dave Perkowski project close to his Tower Press building? Sounds like it will be more office than residential, maybe the Block building? I'm trying to read up on that project..
  21. Sometimes you get more customers by being hard to get.. not sure if that's true here for the market, but it could be.

I'll make a note of it for our next round of updates. We are working with Ante Up for the music on the site. We currently are using royalty-free stuff, but think it would be nice to have one of our tenants be showcased there. Ante Up is responsive to the idea. FYI, we are working with two different retail users who could come in from the suburbs to make Tyler their new home, we are also talking with a 50,000 SF user who is looking for space that would allow them to grow to 150,000 SF in a few years. Finally, we are working with a company from a different area looking at bringing their business to Cleveland starting off with around 10,000 SF. All that and we have a couple of tenants who are growing exponentially here at Tyler already. Things are revving up.

Yep, and we plan on having a much more interactive map that includes all the various restaurants, shopping spaces, developments, etc. in our next phase. We wanted to start off by showing where we are located in proximity to the CBD and UC areas as well as how close the freeways are. We plan on adding more and more to the site to keep folks coming back..

I actually think the rail line is a plus if you just brought it back into tyler like it once was. Passenger rail is nice, but I think you will see a greater use of rail for shipping goods as gas prices rise, adding that component back into tyler could be a boon for different kinds of manufacturing companies.

it's a ways off. We'd like to have the housing component in place, but there are many boulders to move first.
