Cleveland: Tyler Village
A couple of small updates: international company Hurukuru Inc has opened a small office at Tyler recently. exciting start-up Red Apple Digital is up and running at the Village. E Prep is in and having classes. The Natural History Museum is a new tenant for Tyler. Ante Up Audio is finishing construction on their expansion space (as mentioned they recently doubled in size and staff) We are developing incubator spaces in building 31 now that OneCommunity has brought their fiber here. start-ups can get into an office on a 6 month lease that will include access to a 5 Mb connection among other amenities. The old boiler house is being prepped for demolition, this will provide much needed parking, as well as get rid of one of our only environmental problems on the campus.

Cleveland: Tyler Village
fyi, not development related, but there is a show at Tyler Village this weekend: 3/28 9:30 PM Front Room Gallery 3615 Superior Ave Building 42 3rd floor Corner of 36th and Superior Pilia-Alexander-Belfi Trio -------------------------- STEFANO PILIA (Bologna, Italy) b.1978, Genoa, Italy guitar, electronics -solo and member of 3/4 Had Been Eliminated, Medves, SPQ -collaborated with Black Forest/Black Sea, Giuseppe Ielasi, Renato Rinaldi -multiple releases on labels such as Die Schachtel, Sedimental, Last Visible Dog, Soleilmoon, Hapna, Time-Lag, more -has performed at Imaginaria Festival/Bari, Emotion/Milano, Torino Film Festival/Torino, installations: Raum/Bologna, AS220/Providence, Viafarini/Milano -"Pilia has become Italy's finest music export this year. After his stunning release on Last Visible Dog, it was clear he had little competition. His subsonic drones are a thing of beauty; pulling in and pushing the listener away simultaneously, keeping him or her in a constant state of limboith all things Stefano Pilia does, there is an understated and simple beauty beneath them." (Brad Rose, Foxy Digitalis) http://www.myspace.com/stefanopilia JEFFREY ALEXANDER (Pittsburgh, PA) b.1968, Baltimore, USA guitar, electronics, tambura -solo and member of Black Forest/Black Sea, the Iditarod, SPQ -collaborated with Fursaxa, Kemialliset Ystavat, Christina Carter, Gravenhurst, ES, Avarus -multiple releases on labels such as Last Visible Dog, Music Fellowship, Time-Lag, Secret Eye, Fonal, more -has performed at Terrastocks I, V, VI, VII, All Tomorrow's Parties/Minehead, Moonshake/Umea, Zu Fest/Roma, 8mm Festival/Castelfranco, VPRO National Dutch Radio, National Norwegian Radio, BBC Radio, more -owner Secret Eye Records and Morning Glory Coffeehouse in Pittsburgh -"Guitar, electronics and various small rackety sounds collect themselves into a haze of infinite possibilities. At certain points there's a sparseness to their approach recalling Charalambides' quiet explosions; at others there's a weird and wooly organic depth closer to some of the contemporary giants of the Finnish underground." (Byron Coley, Harp) ANDREA BELFI b.1979, Milano, Italy drums, percussion, electronics -solo and member of Medves -has performed at Netmage Festival/Bologna, Klarafestival/Brussels, Ugglan Festival/Stockholm, Buziol/Venice, VPRO National Dutch Radio, more -multiple releases on labels such as Die Schachtel, Hapna, Wallace, Last Visible Dog, more -"The real victory of Belfi is the ease of cohabitation of melody and experiment. Few do it so well" (Jon Dale, The Wire) http://www.myspace.com/andreabelfi

Records, records as far as the eye can see. We are working to get a vinyl record pressing plant set up at Tyler Village. Who knew you needed a huge boiler!? This company will start off with 4 to 8 employees, but it's actually a growing market in the music industry (mostly subsidized by yours truly and his all too frequent trips to Bent Crayon on Detroit and W. 116th). The plant in Nashville started with 8 and grew to over 50 employees, I believe.

hmmm.. is it in the air? Tyler Village looks like THE destination for yet another tech start-up. I hope to have something solid for you by end of next week!

Cleveland: Tyler Village
promising cafe lead for Tyler, also toured a 35,000 SF user who would basically complete the the 4 story buildings on the east side of 36th st. Have another business looking to relocate from a different state all together, they'd take 4,000 SF. Had a start-up manufacturer look at possibly 10k.

Cleveland: Tyler Village
after drinking a Bells last night at Prosperity I realized that I had probably not given an update in a long while.. so here it is: As mentioned, PC Helps has expanded and is adding another 50 to 100 jobs to our fair city. Their expansion space is done and they are putting butts in the seats now. Sparkbase has been conducting interviews as they look to expand their workforce. Nu Life Fitness not only makes you sweat hard in a workout, but also serves up a nice smoothy, pop by for one sometime. E Prep is nearing completion. Working with an exciting start-up project that will hopefully be moving in soon... more on this when I can give it. Currently looking for someone who wants to run a cafe. I have a very good deal for this person, if you know of anyone. Indigo Imp is still selling it's beers on Friday afternoons, make a trip down before you head home! WW

Cleveland: Tyler Village
If you plan on buying a 6 pack, you will need to go into the back of the east campus, past the orange docks and into the man door, Indigo Imp is on the ground floor to the left of the door/stairwell. from indigo imp brews: Great Beer Lovers and Indigo Imp Supporters, We are happy to announce that we finally have beer to sell!! The last couple months have been spent brewing, bottling, and waiting, waiting, waiting for bottle labels to come in. They arrived this week. We are offering a limited amount of Blonde Bombshell and Winter Solstice for sale from the brewery store on Friday Dec. 5th From 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The cost is $8.99 for a six pack plus tax. Cash Only. This sale is in advance of any retail store sales and is being advertised to people who have signed our online form and the brewery's immediate neighbors. A note about the beer: Indigo Imp Brewery produces unfiltered, naturally carbonated beer in open fermentors. The beers are complex in flavor and aroma yet surprisingly smooth and especially delicious when paired with cheese and other foods. We recommend serving our beer at 45-55 deg.f. and also recommend pouring it slowly into a glass, leaving the yeast sediment in the bottle. Keep checking the web site for upcoming events and where to buy Indigo Imp beers. Cheers, Matt & Kathy Chappel "Give Me An Imp!"

Cleveland: Tyler Village
Not really development news but I thought I'd let people know about a concert happening at Tyler Village on December 21st. Insect Factory and Mike Tamburo played together at Terrastock 7, an amazing set of hammer dulcimer and electric guitar/effects pedals.

Cleveland: Tyler Village
sorry, long time no posts from me: indigo imp brews - producing beers, should see them on the shelf of Heinens soon. retail space - ran into a hurdle, but has since been overcome, should have all windows and storefront systems up by December 15th. Ante Up Audio just doubled in size and has started teaming up with Factory Restaurant to do shows. They had Chuck Mosely from Faith No More play the first event last week. Speaking of music and the Front Room Gallery: I have teamed up with Paul from FRG to bring 3 groups to the space December 21st - the Insect Factory (MA), Mike Tamburo (PA) & Loud & Sad (PA). All welcome. EPrep is on schedule for their move in. Note new windows going in on 36th street. PC Helps has expanded and will be adding another 35 to 50 jobs to the city. Best, WW

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
very sad and frustrating news.

Cleveland: Tyler Village
news? well, I guess I have official news, if old news: E Prep signed their lease today to take on 35,000 SF growing to 100,000 SF over the next 3 to 5 years. What does this mean? It means Tyler Village will basically have one building, Building 42, to do on the west side of campus. Our initial timetable once DigiKnow came into building 44 was 5 years for only building 44 before we moved on down 36th street. We are two years into it and 44 is all but done, with this lease, we have 75% of our 36th street development spoken for and now we pretty much have building 42. THings have been moving.

Cuyahoga County: Corruption Probe
So the county's run by the mob and the cities run by nobody? (too soon?)

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
yeah, it is actually. I walk my dog around at pretty much any hour without any worries. I think it came from over on Detroit possibly. It may not have even been gunfire, but it did sound like that.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
How does one find out about possible gun fire? I was pretty sure I heard about 10 to 12 shots fired in my neighborhood late last night (I live around w.111th and Clifton, I'm not sure if the time was 11PM or later). Sounded like two guns, one firing several times and one firing once (2nd one much louder than the first). Any ideas?

Cleveland - Ohio City
Do you work right downtown? the St.Clair/Superior area over at the Tower Press building is cool, Tremont is nice. My brother lives in the Federal Knitting Mills over on Detroit and w.28th, those are real nice. Are you looking to buy or rent?

Cleveland - Tyler Village and PC Helps Thread
We do actually tout that to prospects pretty regularly, not sure why it didn't make it on the website, but we had a ton of things to get in there and I could probably have a list of thousands of "shoulda's" but at some point you make a decision and go.

Cleveland - Tyler Village and PC Helps Thread
Ok, Rachel, I'm interested to know, after visiting the complex is safty still a big concern? "I read that there will be a two-level parking garage? Oh that's such a relief! Safety is my biggest concern in the area PC Helps will be moving in to, and I was worried I would have to park on the streets. What amenities will the building have, if any? Also, when will the development be finished, roughly? Was thinking of taking a drive down there someday soon to check it out. 8-)" (from TV thread in the development section)

A Piece of Cleveland
You can also see their work at Tyler Village, where APOC's world headquarters happen to be.

Cleveland: Tyler Village
Actually, as we speak that's where we are building out ground floor retail. Nu Life Fitness will be going in to the eastern corner and we are working with a deli to possibly to take the western corner. Check back in 60 days.

Cleveland: Tyler Village
What's new? Indigo Imp Brewery cleared a major hurdle with licensing recently, so get your whistle ready to be wet with a Blonde Bombshell Ale! PC Helps is moved in and getting fully integrated into the Tyler Village. We have strong interest from a young law firm, a young publishing company and a cool biotech group (coming from outside Cleveland). There is a new garden in the courtyard and you can see the storefronts going into building 44 right now. Pretty cool. WW

IGNATZ playing Cleveland/Tyler.. Is this development related? Not sure, but Frontroom Gallery, Bent Crayon and I are hosting a small concert at Tyler Village in the Frontroom Gallery's space on June 13th starting at 10PM w/a suggested donation of $5. While this may not be development news, art events play an important role to the overall village-vibe at Tyler, and I think it has a place in this thread. Matter and Memory as well as Fluxmonkey will also be performing. IGNATZ Appalachian old-timey folk ala John Fahey re-imagined as outer space blues by Brussels-based solo artist Bram Devens. "Alien musical transmissions intercepted using an old victrola and played back by some crazy old man, sitting on his porch, armed with just an acoustic guitar, a pile of busted old wax cylinders, and a huge bank of broken and rusty effects pedals... So goddamn great!" (Aquarius Records) "...his impassioned mantras of faith and devotion from behind the crackled veil of a prewar blues 78. But as Ignatz II again demonstrates, Devens has proven regularly able to re-interpret these borrowed texts in his own singular fashion, his handmade bricks again gloriously shaped, baked, and thrown." We are focused on commercial development for now. Live/Work lofts will be on the west side of the campus when we get there, but we have other parts of the elephant to chew and eat first.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Two VERY diferrent neighborhoods....i live in OB and there are plenty of homes for sale. If you're looking to get a deal, try some of the "for sale by owner" homes. You can bypass the real estate agent and do the leg work yourself. my experience is that For Sale By Owner is normally someone who doesn't like the (lower) price the Real Estate agent told them they thought their house would sell for..
