Cleveland Heights-South Euclid: Oakwood Commons
I am skeptical on the retail as well even though Mr. Schneider has given a nice explanation for his reasoning. I thought it would have been ideal for JCU to buy at least part of the land for student housing, which they have a severe need for. As for the land trust, I didn't see them raising the funds that the club was asking. The bottom line is the club had debt on the property that needed to get paid off soon so this was obviously the best, or at least highest bid option that they were presented. The fact is there is a lot of green space there and when all is said and done, 40% or so should remain as that, which is a positive.

We have to wait intil 2010 for Yao to be unrestricted, so that would mean not only signing him, but also re-signing Lebron to a new long term contract. What a summer that would be.

NBA: Playoffs News & Discussion
His back is hurt. He's not out though, they just aren't playing him because he sucks. Wright is literally out for the season.. that loser.. He is out. He has been out. He is not expected back this series. From Terry Pluto this past Sunday "Some fans have wondered about J.J. Hickson. He is not physically ready to play. He is still resting a significant bone bruise in his back and when he has tried to scrimmage, the result has been back spasms. It's doubtful he will have any role in the playoffs. "

Just because their lease expires, doesn't mean they couldn't still stay and pay month to month assuming the landlord and E&Y had an agreement. I don't know why a building owner wouldn't want that income to continue coming in on a monthly basis unless they had someone else lined up to replace all those rents.

How about Jawad Williams? If he jumps on Dwight's back it might throw his shot off slightly. :) fellas, lorenzen is hurt. thats why he has been in a suit the first 2 series.

Then we may need to make use of D. Jackson and all 6 of his fouls then. I would be completely fine with Howard going to the line 20 times and making his 50% there. I'm not sure we have enough players on the bench for that strategy. :) I am not suggesting "hack - a - dwight". But we have to make him work for his shot and keep from giving up easy baskets. if that means tacking him, so be it. Its either that or devoting 2 guys to him which opens up their outside shooters.

let it go or do something. If it bothers you that much do something! Why not just let BelievelandD1 vent? Does he really need to send a letter to Sir Charles telling him he is wrong? As for the series, its going to be tough. I have a feeling Big Ben may need to play more minutes as he is probably the best defender of Howard. Ben and Joe Smith on the floow together might be the best hope. I don't see Z staying with him and Andy can't body him up without getting in foul trouble. We have a great defensive coach so I trust him to have the best possible game plan.

I thought sands closed 20 years ago! LOL Luchitas wasn't right for shaker square. We need a good thai and B BQ joint on SS. and two or three national retail stores. MTS, the new place filling luchita's old spot is moroccan correct? Yeah but they have weird hours. My cousin said they don't serve alcohol. Wha? OK, so maybe a Thai restaurant can fill their spot when they close in 2 months. No alcohol, that's brilliant.

New mexican restaurant in Shaker at the end of the Blue Line rapid called Los Habaneros (spelling?). Its actually in the old Sand's Blue Line Cafe spot. Reasonably priced, authentic, straightforward mexican menu. I have been there twice and both meals were solid. Its comparable to Don Tequilla's, with slightly higher quality and slightly higher price. Wife and I ate for $30, which included two entrees and beer, so its still pretty cheap. It was packed on friday night in the middle of the snowstorm so thats a good start for this place. I don't think Sand's had a packed Friday night in the past 20 years. Plus this helps w/ the loss of Luchita's at Shaker Square earlier in the year.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
You understand that Brady had two days of practice to get ready for this game right? I thought it was obvious that Brady had a lot better control of the offense and seemed very relaxed. DA gets flustered and loses confidence too easily. DA is a nice guy and his team likes him a lot, but Brady is a natural leader and should play the rest of the season..

PNC? I don't think so. The new owner of the bank might change the philosophy of the banks lending practices. I would think they have to worry about intergration and sorting out bad business before starting to reinvest. Understood. Hence the "joking....sort of" comment. Plus PNC is a strong bank for a reason. They would likely pass on this anyways. I was simply throwing it out there as an opportunity to help mend the wounds that NCB's departure will cause. I would prefer them to do that by not firing anyone but we all know that won't happen.

That's the million dollar question. And again, this isn't only happening here, and was always going to take more than one bank. Wolstein is a pretty smart guy who has about 50m of his own (or his own "groups") money already sunk in this, I'm confident he'll get it done. And as I said earlier, if a project like FEB can't get done in the next 18 months or so... we've got a lot more problems on our hands than FEB. And I'm not talking just locally, that means our national economy and lending structure is in shambles. I totally understand its a national problem and it is a multibank deal. The problem is and was finding enough banks willing to be a part of it. The loss of NCB doesn't affect this since I heard that their financial troubles kept them from being a player in the deal. If PNC was to step in that would be a huge help to the project.

the question is, when does the market stabilize enough for private debt to be ready to commit? 6, 12, 18 months? I don't feel too comfortable. Its a tricky thing to finance to begin with. Perhaps PNC would like to earn some positive vibes with the people of Cleveland by leading a bank group here. That's the least they could do (joking.....sort of).

Cleveland: National City Bank News & Info
This sucks for everyone ... obviously Cincy's news is all over this and their reporting job cuts in our region as well (thanks a lot, Cleveland) j/k ... seriously, I kind of wish PNC didn't have the presence that it does now in our region, hell all of OH now. Luckily with The Banks, some major players were recently announced to have a huge personal investment with the project, so hopefully NCB's acquisition won't hurt that project. Individual projects don't get affected by bank acquisitions. NCB made the loan now the loan will be PNC's. PNC can't turn around and say, "sorry we don't like this deal, give us our money back". There are legal documents signed. Hope that clears it up. My understanding is NCB said they would loan $40 million for the banks. But, that loan has not been made yet, just promised. Most loans are not actually issued until the project is ready for construction. Someone more familiar with this project might know something different. I am not saying PNC will not keep that 'promise' but, in today's market who knows. Banks are pulling money out from under many projects right now, including some actually under construction. Thanks for the clarification. I was assuming by the earlier post that the funds were at least committed if not already disbursed.
