I am as excited as anyone, but if we lose, I hope the city doesn't have a parade like we did in '95 for the almost world series champ indians. There should never be a parade for second place in my opinion. That being said there will be a parade when we DO win.

Listening to: Wilco's new album Muse Bright Eyes Old 97's Arcade Fire
  3. This night club does not excite me one bit unless it means Lindsay Lohan moves to Cleveland (hello there). Carlos Jones at Cyrus however is good stuff. How is the food there by the way. The menu looks good (both food and wine) so i hope it does well.
  4. ^^agree w/ the Cleve Hts over Shaker Hts for a young professional looking things to do close by. I lived in Coventry as a single professional and loved it and now am married and live in Shaker. Shaker is great for young families, but a single looking for other singles and hip spots to eat/drink will not find much. Depending where you work, Lakewood is also great for multiple going out spots and lots of young professionals. I would say Cleve Hts, Lakewood, Downtown and Shaker Square are tops in the area for this.

Same spot as last year. Saturday is it I think. If we don't get that win, the momentum shifts back to the Pistons for game 7 in Detroit. Of course with LeBron's confidence level right now, there is opportunity for anything to happen in a game 7. Let's put it away Saturday though to remove any doubt. Please.

There was a meeting in Shaker yesterday concerning this and unfortunately I missed it. I will try and find a summary of the meeting. Here is the website. http://www.shakeronline.com/dept/planning/TransitOrientedDevelopment.asp

Someone is a little touchy. Does it really make a difference to you where they put their store? Will you not give them business because you feel they made a strategic error? Will you take your burrito money elsewhere? I am sorry for mentioning the whole thing. I hope you don't lose sleep. :-)

I know chipotle doesn't need that much room, but the bruegger's location seems way to small for them (and smaller than their current spot) I am simply relaying what a man with the power to make that decision said. Don't know if it is 100% decided.

We have had other players step up and make shots in both wins. They will need this to continue if we are to have a shot. We can't expect Gibson to have 21 every game or even Drew to have 19. With Hughes extremely limited Z needs to be more consistent and Sasha needs to continue to play well.

As a burrito follow up. I hear that the Coventry Chipotle would like to move into the Bruegger's spot. Hmmmm. Didn't know Bruegger's was going anywhere.

don't know where it is going in, but the source is pretty solid.

My source in the burrito world says they like the cedar/fairmount location better. I guess the coventry location is not as visible as they would like it to be. I don't completely understand that, but oh well. I like to support Que Tal as well and often do, but Chipotle seems to offer fewer, lets say "risks". This is just my experience though.

I have lived in Coventry and Shaker and am a big fan of both. I am confused also on the idea of coventry going downhill. I think the only complaint against Coventry is that it has turned into more of a strip for college kids, but even that argument I don't agree with. Its a great neighborhood for a young professional/couple. Having a Marc's (discount market/pharmacy/random goods) on the street is really a great addition plus there are good local restaurants. I miss living in that area. Then again the Chipotle is moving to Cedar/Fairmout neighborgood so that is one strike against Coventry. If the movie theater was still there I think the neighborhood would be just about perfect. That's my sell on Coventry. I think you can't go wrong with Shaker Square or Cedar/Fairmount either. All three are great for anyone working near University Circle. In a few years there should be some more options for those that want to live right at university Circle, but those projects are in the early stages. Good luck with your move and finding a place that meets your needs.
  15. That is a good point clvlndr. The frustrating thing is that the more issues that pop up, the longer it takes for things to get done. It is hard to be patient in this town given all the mistakes and teases of the past. From the PD today, nothing too exciting: Live from Vegas: Shopping center convention wrap-up Posted by Henry J. Gomez May 23, 2007 10:58AM Categories: Breaking News, Economic development One of the more peculiar scenes from the Council of Shopping Centers' spring convention in Las Vegas, which ends today, came at a Sunday evening reception sponsored by the Akron law firm of Roetzel & Andress. Adam Fishman, whose Fairmount Properties LLC is lead developer on the $230 million Flats East Bank Neighborhood, exchanged a warm embrace with Tony George, one of the holdout property owners whose land could be taken by eminent domain. Fishman said the two "really are good friends," just on the opposite side of things this time.
  16. I don't see the issue with giving these owners some sort of "stake" in the project if they are unwilling to sell. If you knew there was a chance your home or condo would be worth twice as much as it is now in a few years, would you sell now for a small profit? I would certainly be hesitant. The worry is that these owners will stand in the way of wolstein's plan. If they are willing to play ball and go with the plan in place, then I don't see an issue with them being included. That is highly doubtful since I am pretty sure they would want to do their own separate thing and that is where the problem is. Wolstein won't pay an unreasonable amount for the properties.
  17. wonder how this will affect things? Official admits voting before studying Posted by Tom Breckenridge May 23, 2007 15:26PM A member of the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority board says he didn't read two key reports before voting at a hastily called special meeting in late 2005 to declare the port's intent to take properties on the Flats east bank for a $230 million project. Lawyers for land owners who are targets of the "taking" -- known as eminent domain -- say developer John Carney's admission in court Tuesday shows that he and other board members failed to "carefully" consider the key reports and the impact of eminent domain. The statements came in the ongoing Probate Court trial over whether the properties can be taken and what the owners will be paid for them. 18. Seriously. I will clap for Bob, when there is an announcement that a deal is signed.
  19. I bet all those docs would be very impressed with the dollar store. In all seriousness, I think TC can be viable if/when the other projects are up and running and/or the convention center/med mart moves to behind TC. Right now, all TC has to depend on are downtown employees and the people that come down for games etc. No one comes to TC from the burbs just to shop anymore. A large increase in downtown residents + convention center would fix this very quickly. Off topic, but I wonder why everyone who mentions Tower City has to mention that one dollar store and never the better stores like Brooks Brothers or Jonston & Murphy, Charlotte Rouse, or even Morton's Steakhouse. That's an easy answer. Because its pathetic that a mall that once was home to Structure, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Abercrombie & Fitch, Gap, Disney, Warner Bros., etc. etc. etc has to fill its vacancies with dollar stores. This isn't all the fault of TC obviously, since they can't force people to choose to shop there instead of a suburban mall w/ the same stores. At the same time, its extremely dissappointing to see what has happened. Brooks Brothers is solid, and I believe recently signed a new lease, but they need a lot more to be viable.

  21. a Bernie Kosar steakhouse. AWESOME! That actually is a perfect restaurant to go in there. Its unique and people from outside of downtown would go down to the flats to eat there. As long as its a quality place, people would go back.http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2007/05/kosar_to_open_steakhouse_in_fl.html
  22. I did not suggest or even read anyone else suggets that it should be torn down simply b/c it is ugly. Maybe I missed someone else posting that, or it could just be an exaggeration. I am simply looking for progress and fresh ideas downtown. That building sitting there empty and collecting dust is not progress. That being said, renovating the existing tower and filling it w/ county workers would be nice progress in my mind. I also have no problem with bashing a public official if you disagree with how they handle things. They weren't elected to be my friend. they were elected to make smart decisions on my behalf and when they don't then they should hear about it. Just like I don't have a problem booing Larry Hughes when he goes 3-17.
  23. either way, this thing will be a very costly project and an inefficient use of our money. I respect PLJ's thinking and will be happy if he is victorious, but at the same time I don't want this whole thing to fall apart and the building stay empty and dirty for 20 years.
  24. I am all for saving it if the county or anyone else wants to renovate and move in. I don't care how it looks. But if it is a choice between 1) knocking it down and building a new structure or 2) the county deciding to go to the burbs instead and the existing building sitting vacant for another 15 years, then I have no problem with taking it down.
  25. "Point taken MTS, but I'm not talking about cost here. I'm disagreeing with the argument that putting 1500 people in one important intersection is going to magically transform the office market downtown. Instead, it's taking 200 from one building, 500 from another, 250 from another, 150 from (suburb), and so on..... " Magic? Who's talking magic? Look I think you are exaggerating. No one is saying either option is a cure all. But the current tower is a freaking large skyscraper and it is COMPLETELY empty and has been for quite some time. If the county doesn't do anything with it, it would likely stay COMPLETELY empty for a quite a while longer. If the county wants to consolidate a bunch of smaller offices thats wonderful. Its a lot easier to fill a few smaller vacant spaces than one much larger space. That would require a large company to move downtown to do that and this is not happening as frequently as we would all like.
