I am a people of Norwood and I am telling you that I dont want the city's economic growth to be built on call centers. Yes wages are wages and any new jobs to the region are a good thing but if we are going to grow into an economy that is once again attractive to young, talented professionals, we need to aim a little higher. I think we should rename the site "UncleRando Ohio". It seems like you have taken control of the forum.

How about "600 Jobs for Erlanger" Im not a student of business and im not going to pretend that I know anything but it would seem to me that is makes sense for a company to diversify locations as well. I would think the "dont put all your eggs in one basket" ideology would apply here as well. I dont think call centers are the solution to a weak job market. Certainly its good to add jobs no matter what and I wish convergys and other local companies would find ways to increase their downtown presence but i think we should hope for quality, not qantity.
  3. its just camera distortion....look how much the angle of the bridge changes from one end to the other. the alignment is correct.
  4. yeah this sounds great but i hate how "hush hush" everything has to be. i hope something more concrete comes about soon.
  5. seems slightly more realistic

the Reds front office can take thier gimmicky terms like "Power Pack" and flush them down the toilet. "oooh i want to buy those tickets because they are assembled in a "power pack"". Grow up! then can throw their "power stacks" in the river while there at it.
  7. i realize that. i just cant imagine paying a mortgage and a fee of that much anywhere
  8. wow! only 344 to 389 a month for condo fees! ill take two!
  9. ^ yeah i have just lost the only sliver of respect i may have had for butler. what sucks is that even though his projects are terrible and look like sh!t, they will still sell because people "love the views". i think he has misplaced his confidence because of this. he thinks people love his buildings when all they love is whats out the window. i know people who have worked with him on projects and claim it to be an absolute nightmare. but he's the man writing the checks so what he wants he gets. the verdict is still out on the ascent and who knows what ovation will turn into. i will hold off judgement till these things come to fruition but in the meantime...stop making ugly buildings.
  10. yeah, i havent seen that particular rendering before...but its the first computer rendering i have seen for the project too. also...the white building behind is sycamore place right? and that is now red. the image is obviously out of date
  11. i think the more the better but man what an arrogant jackass....and for what! "In The Banks, you don't have the view. One building looks into another, and we had the massive task of overcoming the perception of a safety problem, which Cincinnati is now doing something about," Butler said, referring to plans to add police patrols downtown. Butler predicted that Covington and Newport will continue to thrive and draw Ohio residents and shoppers, building on the momentum of recent large projects, especially The Ascent. He said 87 percent of the condo project's buyers are from Ohio" Now he's making it personal.
  12. isnt that rendering really old? i thought they had designs pending the demolition/preservation of the red brick building. this rendering obviously indicates that the building is still there, but that building has been torn down.
  13. my understanding is that the streetcars would be modern...not vintage. i do recall (i was away at school) someone saying they had an example of one of the light rail trains out in front of union terminal when they were pushing the regionwide light rail. is that correct? i definately think that is something that those involved need to make absolutely clear because when most people think of street cars they think vintage.
  14. boy would that model look great about 10 floors taller.
  15. ^ ha! "streetscape"
  16. did they photoshop out the other model? haha that looks terrible. well i guess the press release makes it more official but those of your more construction savy...why test piles? Is that still related to soil testing etc?
  17. well seeing how we dont have a streetcar i think that would be a little difficult.
  18. yeah, with all of the industrial blight around town there has got to be a location that can be made available for them in the city. either way we have to keep verdin IN the city...its way too important to our history.
  19. well, hopefully crate and barrel will encourage the design to not be such crap. each of the office on the west side of the tower will have a wonderful view of the gravel on top of the retail section.
  20. ^ well i dont know how to verify that, everyone is so hush hush with how many units they actually have left to sell. some people like a great view, some people like a great neighborhood. if you want the view you go to kentucky.
  21. ^ i agree completely. i was just pointing out why there is a greater demand right now for condos on the other side of the river. its amazing that people will sell their souls for a view! jk...kentucky is wonderful.
  22. http://bearcreekcapital.com/Kenwood%20Towne%20Place.htm Im not sure if i have posted this link in here yet but it deserves another look. I PRAY that this project does not end up looking like this. What a disaster. Select the "Aerial..." links down the right side of the web page to pull up a few renderings they created. These have been on there for a while so who knows whats current.
  23. yeah, it sure is easy to get excited about things that appear to be new construction. on a related topic i remember some folks test boring in the 3rd street parking lot adjacent to the building FRCH just purchased, and today there was a backhoe doing some digging. probably just some utility maintanence but it would be cool if they did something with that lot.
  24. ^ possibly if they decided to use fill in certain areas instead of parking structure. one way or another theyve got to get out of the flood plain. i hope the optimism shared by those involved with these initial studies will spread to the people who can make this happen.
  25. ^ yeah i thought that too
