Newport, KY: SouthShore Condominiums
^ If you have twin developments on the river in cincinnati and newport/covington, the newport/covington project will sell much faster because they have one priceless amenity that cant be attained from ohio...the picturesque "on the river" view of downtown cincinnati. i think there might hesitation in cincinnati also with the banks potentially getting started this century. but there are a significant number of smaller, more urban appropriate projects on the cincinnati side and hopefully some big ones in the works.

Cincinnati ... WTF: Underneath 2nd to 71 ramp and on front of US Bank Arena???
they are slabs of granite waiting to be installed at fountain square. i guess the had them all shipped but as we all know half of the plaza is yet to be finished.

indeed you should! thanks for the confirmation...i dont care what side of the river these are on. seeing all of these projects finally come to fruition will bring a much needed, fresh breath of optimism to the area. in a matter of months there could be as many as 6 tower cranes visible in our beloved "from kentucky" skyline view.

what exactly did you see? i think maybe you saw the second phase of one of the other newport projects up the river...that has just started too. hopefully not though, hopefully it was southshore

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
as frustrating as it may or may not be that they have decided to extend the negotiating period three more months, it is obvious that progress is being made. what would be terrible is that by the end of three months the AIG takes off because a suitable arrangement couldnt be reached. I have to believe that this development team of this capacity does not screw around when it comes to delivery. i have a refreshed sense of optimism that things will happen soon. i have fears about the down turn in the housing market but i also feel that a brand new neighborhood such as the banks will create its own demand. i think there are a lot of people out there who want something in the city but are waiting for something to happen on the banks. hopefully.

that "parking and street complex" price tag just keeps creeping higher and higher

Did a little digging of my own through their website. This was what they replied with. I hope she is right! -----, I apologize that someone did not respond to your questions about our development. Please give me a call or send a message and I will answer your questions about the property. Currently the price range is from $377,800 to $2,800,800. Ground breaking is set for later in the month. Construction of the first building is expected to be complete by summer of 2008. Carol Jackson SouthShore 400 Riverboat Row Newport, KY 41071 Office 859.431.8000 Fax 859.431.6000

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
PhattyNati replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructionbusinesses come and go...thats nothing new. nobody screwed anybody intentionally so why not recognize them for what they provided while they were here. why does everything have to have such a negative reception.

Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
yeah they are moving quickly with the foundation forming and pouring. they only started the beginning of last week.

Cincinnati: Fifth Third Bank
i hate it when people gripe and anquish over "how much" must have been spent to come up with a new logo. obviously a second grader could have come up with something "more interesting" but this is what they wanted because there is tradition and equity built into they old one. paying "all that" money is a necessary evil and everybody does it.

PhattyNati replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Construction^ give me a break. that building is beyond salvage and to poke at 3cdc like that seems a little out of place too...how many buildings have they purchased for renovation now? nobody likes losing history but you have to draw a line somehwere. they cant all be saved

Covington, KY: The Ascent at Roebling's Bridge
wow, i really think that looks slick. especially the view closest to where they have already instaled a lot of the glass. i agree the balconies look like crap but hopefully they will look better with their railings. i love the simplicity of the skin and the complexity of the structure.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
is that public housing accross the street from stetson square? (first image) I have never noticed those buildings before

Cincinnati: Walnut Hills - The Overlook at Eden Park
yeah the steel is now up a story or two in the core...still no tower crane. i cant imagine they can work in those tight quarters for 14 floors without a tower crane

Covington, KY: The Ascent at Roebling's Bridge
^ it most certainly would be great if other people would follow by example...including mr. butler himself. i am familiar with a project potential project on the boards where he has slipped back to his old ways. i think the developers of One River Plaza are trying to do something with a little more spice than is typical for the area too. for whatever reason companies around here are too afriad to do something out of the ordinary.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Adams Landing
PhattyNati replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructionit seems as though there Captains Watch might have a few more phases planned? The abrupt end to the parking structure and above plaza would suggest that as well as the renderings. can anybody confirm that?

Cincinnati: Housing Market / Affordable Housing
well an encouraging article non-the-less. interesting to get specific details from all of those projects too. now if western and southern would get their stuff together and make 5th and race a reality with AFFORDABLE prices.

Covington, KY: The Ascent at Roebling's Bridge
^ if you look at the sold/not sold diagram that they have on the website there are a few grey blocks above the penthouse unit. i guess either these might indicate dead spaces, or maybe some sort of rooftop garden. there hasnt been any mention however about any public space up there. i parked over at river center last week just to take a look at progress. i would suggest that to anybody that has the time. the curves and sloping really looks impressive in person and i also think the building will appear much more slender than it does in the renderings. you can see through the webcam now that they have completed quite a bit of the pre-cast installation now.

Cincinnati: Carew Tower Prototype For Empire State Building?
> "I did not know that the two were produced by the same architect. That's fascinating! I always marvelled at the resemblance. I read that the Carew was originally supposed to have some kind of stainless steel cladding but late in the design they changed to brick to save money. The setbacks are certainly similar." I read in a book (i cannot think of it off the top of my head) that the carew was supposed to be clad in stone, not stainless steel, wich in my mind would have made it even closer in resemblence to rockefeller center.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
i agree rando that its frustrating...but come on...for people new to the board 20 pages is a lot of reading. i think it would be helpfull if each major project discussion had a cut sheet of vital info for each project including current proposed beginning and ending info. i know thats probably a lot of administrator work, but just an idea.
