i drove by the site to check it out...looked like the pile of rocks was a little taller!

Cincinnati: Oakley: Lofts@4120
^ that hasnt stopped the enquirer from using that term in any other article they have written in the past two years regarding new development.
-
Cincinnati: Oakley: Lofts@4120
^ no no...i was refering to the tone of the article. "Work is expected to begin late this summer, and all the units are expected to be completed by fall 2007." noticed the snuck "professionals" and "empty nesters" in there but no "young professionals"

Cincinnati: Uptown - UC's MainStreet
i was up there the other day for the baseball game and walked through the new recreation center...wow is that building cool! at the baseball game i overheard conversations of current and old administrators just raving about the new varsity village. i didnt go to uc and i can really say that i remember what that part of campus was like before all of the construction but wow is it impressive over there. truely one of the most unique urban spaces i have ever seen

Cincinnati: General Business & Economic News
sounds pretty cool indeed. makes you wonder how many other stories there might be out there similar to this related to P&G, Federated, Kroger etc that the press doesnt talk about. my brother works for sonoco at one of their wisconsin mills. he said there was an anouncement from within the company but didnt specify what exactly it would entail jobwise etc.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
well i think this is great news. castellini has proved to be a no nonsense get it done leader...but who's to say he'll really have the ability to push members of the city and county when needed. its not like he can just fire them. as for the western and southern thing...i tend to think the opposite is true. is that not a fragrant conflict of interest? how can a member of a bidding group be involved with some of these decisions? i dont know. i guess we'll just have to wait and see...again

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: School for the Creative & Performing Arts
I realize they dont mean that it will "match"...but i dont see much compliment either. i agree that a few of the zinc clad uc buildings look very nice, however, the first building that comes to mind when seeing the theater portion of this project is tangamen which is an absolute disaster. again, i think the project will be successfull, but from experience i know that the fluffier architectural elements usually dont show up in these marketing renderings. i will withhold judgment until the project is finished but i definately think this is a good thing.

"The building also has been designed to fit into the neighborhood's architecture" Are you kidding!!!! I have no problem with this building. Ill give cole + russel the benefit of the doubt that it will be more sensitive than the rendering is portraying. But dont tell me this building matches the existing architecture! I sure hope they arent tearing anything down for this though.

Newport, KY: SouthShore Condominiums
these developers really seem to have their stuff together. they seem very confident in their product and its delivery which is a fresh approach in this city. hopefully the skeptics dont get their way with this one. or maybe there has just been a lot of behind the scenes work before they every went public with the idea. i just wish those darn gregories would get moving with the banquet center site.

Cincinnati: General Business & Economic News
this sucks, my roommates dad oversees the bottling down there. he said they just overhauled the entire operation with updated equipment. just more of the same old...manufacturing jobs being axed. i wonder if ohio...cincinnati in particular...will ever reach a point when the growth in other business sectors will begin to substantially offset the losses in manufacturing jobs. certainly thats why the city's growth has seemed stagnant both by population and economics
