  1. >Students, however, often came forward with a common concern: Why did the designers make the windows like those of a jail cell? Because its Morphosis...get off UC.
  2. kind of scary how the only way to lift each portion up is by strapping them like that
  3. oh yeah! i have seen those at B's & N's. never had much time to look all the way through it but i remember it being very interesting
  4. those before and afters are very interesting...looks like you were standing in the exact spot. who would have thought that someone from CINCINNATI would have had the foresight to save that arch too. sounds like they are going to do some great things.
  5. yeah that last photo of the fountain is hot
  6. well im glad they did...getting the project past a point of return is important because of rock bottom and to prevent a new mayer from pulling the plug
  7. they didnt waste any time today...by lunch they had "the boys" off and loaded on the truck, the flag mast coming down, scaffolding to the top of the fountain and a "security" fence that wouldnt keep a tubleweed out
  8. it looks like they have started some excavation up there...and construction trailer
  9. there is a whole lot going on inside...saws and hamers and things falling can be heard from outside. the exterior doesnt seem to have been touched since the scaffolding went up. just some light scraping to get loose paint chips off i think.
  10. it looks so clean in concept. hopefully that follows through when its built. but good find, ive yet to see this side either.
  11. anyone see the blurb on channel 5 tonight about another expansion?
  12. excellent photos monte. is there anybody else that thinks we could do without all the neon in the skyline?
  13. some great looking rehabs there especially 2537 Hackberry St. i dont remember anything about Matson Manor
  14. there was an interesting concept that some "signature" architect had helped propose...obviously i forget their name. i saw it floating around the office one day but apparently they decided against making it too interesting. its little overwealming because you can see the whole elevation driving east, but maybe when the other projects are completed it will feel in place...who knows
  15. hooray for progress
  16. ^haha. the stone addition just does not blend well with the existing yellow paper
  17. i think it should be said again and again...if there was half the view from the cincinnati side as there is from kentucky, you'd better believe these buildings would be poping up here too. its encouraging to see this energy continue...but for the first time i am beginning to question whether this really is a good thing or not. i think most of us can agree that what makes the cincinnati area so beautiful is the interplay between terrain and architecture. i guess what i am saying is that i would hope for the south bank of the ohio to become the "great wall of condos". i like tall buildings as much as the next guy and i know it would be years and years and years before that ever became an issue, but i think its an interesting debate. but for what this project is worth i think it will be one more positive for the region...but too bad for the people in houses in newport who will lose views as result of this.
  18. im assuming the website wont be available till this fall either
  19. agreed. i think the whole deal is pointing a finger at vandercar...maintaining some accountablility for whatever they propose. If we ever get to that point anyway
  20. they just keep coming
  21. i think the design is great, it will do nothing bad add to the square. some people are unable to see past the hulking steel structure that it is now
  22. well it would seem as though he does...why would they mention his name
