  1. So im reading this correctly that the school WILL be renovated and NOT demolished?
  2. Im curious as to the position of said crane. It seems like its right in the middle of what will be the footprint of the tower. Maybe because of the angle looking down from 3rd street it appears closer to the street than it actually is.
  3. This is what Kelly prescribed as an acceptable place to start. Whats interesting to me is the timing of this release. Is it a last ditch effort by the University is trying to prove to Brian that "things are progressing" or is the result of Brain and the University working together. One certainly paints a prettier picture of him staying a few years. The location for the field doesnt lend itself to much privacy. I suppose neither does nippert for "top secret" scheming. When i was in school at Tennessee, the practice fields were situated in a similarly dense area as far as proximity to roads. Extra long field goals would mean balls flying into traffic.
  4. Has anybody noticed the drilling...seemingly similar in nature... closer to PBS?
  5. Pretty cool graphics...especially the one of the cap. I really wish people would stop calling it a tiara.
  6. It looks like they have started to assemble the tower crane. I could barely see what looks like the first section.
  7. ^ Its definitely interesting, being that its a new landmark, how many places around town you can see it. Its easy to lose track of the proximity of places in cincy. A combination of indirect roads that generally avoid topography and that most of the distant views around town are miles of nondescript rolling hills. You may not realize in one place or another that a particular ridge is hyde park, madiera, p-ridge, mt washington, or even kentucky accross the river. The Stratford is a beacon for all!!!!... at least if your looking for Kenwood Rd from Newtown.
  8. Its not you...its the exterior sheathing. I guess most of the time we are used to seeing yellow. I always wonder how many of the poeple driving up 71 see it and scream "that building is purple!! How ugly!" Probably most of them.
  9. ^Interesting question... Anybody on the inside know what superstructure will be? I sure hope its steel because concrete towers are dreadfully boring to watch take shape. Just too slow for me.
  10. So it sounds like they have an office in Sharonville? Im assuming this is where the headquarters will stay. Good news.
  11. To take a trip back in time...now that would be amazing.
  12. When i was coming home from work this evening i saw what looked like a drilling derrick on site. Beginning work on the pilings it seems.
  13. I hate to beat a dead horse but inadequate quality tends to get to me and since I walk past this building several times a week i cant help but notice everything thats wrong. I was holding onto hope that as this project worked its was to a close and the contractors put their finishing touches on final details that the architecture would all come together. I have no doubt that the interior units of the building are sharp and this will be a great place to live but from the outside this building is just one disaster after another. It seems like there was little to no consideration as to how the building would address the street at ANY elevation. The huge garage entry completely dominates the most important (Fourth street) elevation and pays zero attention to any reasonable proportion or aesthetic. The screening that encloses the garage along the sloping Central elevation looks like it was salvaged from a scrap heap. The screen material itself the cheapest of cheap stretched metal. Its so flimsy you would think you could punch right through it...and someone very well might. The panels themselves are spliced horizontally and were welded in place. THEY LOOK HORRIBLE. I mean it looks BAD. An attempt to grind them smooth only exposed a large area of metal at the joints which have now rusted quicker than Corten steel. It seems like the main building roof hasnt been worked on for a month now which leads me to believe that they forgot to factor something. On the back side of the building (where it meets the adjascent existing buildings) they were just throwing flashing any and everywhere. Obviously they need to flash but they could at least try to make it look good. The exposed concrete after weathering for only a year already looks terrible. A coating of anykind would do wonders in my opinion. It seriously appears as if there was no thought applied to a single detail on this building. I have been roused on these boards before by criticisms of a project that i had worked on so i know how that feels and if anybody reading these boards has had any involvement with this project its not my intention to be rude. But this is not a project for PDT to hang their hat on. Some things are just embarassing. She looks good from far... but shes far from good.
  14. Very Cool. Makes it feel just a little more real.
  15. Also... Right along 71, just south of the Summit athletic complex, someone has just cleared a large plot of land and moved the classic "semi trailer billboard" on site with a big rendering of a faceless office building attached. Anybody know what that is?
  16. I noticed there were a few new cranes on site today. Gradually more and more activity down there.
  17. So is this kind of growth merely a redistribution of jobs, or will the majority of these positions actually be new hires. It seems to me that maybe there is a little of both.
  18. Way to go Ohio/Cincinnati. Way to let the increasing price of materials make the project cost more. Now you'll have to wait 10 more years for the Banks to start and maybe ill finally come Downtown....but ill certainly have to watch out for all the abandoned buildings and crime. In Kentucky and outside of the City materials cost exactly what they did 50 years ago and projects never hit hurdles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sincerely, Idiot Enquirer Reader.
  19. ^ Except one is a necessary evil...the other is just evil.
  20. Awesome. Did you build the model or did you get it from somewhere? With the ease of the photo-match tool you should drop that bad boy in as many images as you can.
  21. Did we already know that part?
  22. Unfortunately the crappy awning is still in place at street level. Right?
  23. Perpendicular to the river are section marks. Parallel to the river is maybe the existing shoreline? Looks like the photo was taken with high water.
  24. wow...i simply cant wait to watch this thing come to life.
  25. Interesting....i have never seen that design before. That image is far more relevant that any of the fountain square west, etc images as it was designed to go with what we actually see there today.
