Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
That may have been the plan but i dont believe that is what was built. The company i work for was recently involved in a study dealing with the site. I wasnt personally involved but i do recall a substantially smaller footprint to work with than what i expected. I could be wrong. Regardless...two towers would be difficult on top of a building that was intended to support one... elevators, etc.

The fountain place scenarios are pretty limited without major modification to the existing department store. From what i understand, the portion of the building designed to support additional floors is more or less confined to the corner at 5th and vine. You can see be looking at any decent aerial photograph where this beefed up structure punches through the roof with darker caps. You can also see the footprint of the elevator banks.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
So i think i remember a discussion about this previously...but what are the possible implications with the project after the National City purchase?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
^ Good luck trying to get that answer. Haha...ive asked a number of times on this thread and on the Riverfront Park thread and nobody seems to know. I personally dont see how it wont happen during phase 1. Its configuration, it seems, is pretty critical to the work that will be happening both with The Banks and the park.

Yes it is definately a placeholder. Hopefully everything is just a placeholder. Carter & Dawson did say they were going to rework the designs on what they had proposed a few months ago making everything in that image out of date. Hopefully we see something new soon. The Caresource tower in dayton isnt exactly a glass box either. Yes, the mojority of the cladding is glass but there is a pretty good amount geometry articulation. A few of the towers at atlantic station are more boxy than caresource...so thats probably a better idea of what to expect.

Cincinnati and the smoking ban
^ I dont recall reading where it says they are "getting rid" of anybody. Just dont apply to work there thats all. It certainly seems discriminatory, though.

If anyone can survive a loss like that its Norwood. They are obviously well versed. Right on Rando.

Downtown, OTR, Newport - Sept. '08
The proposed hotel really will be a great addition to that quadrant in image 40.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I dont think dmerkow is saying those projects were failures. Simply that they were completed/started at the doorstep of economic depression...great depression, in fact.

Cincinnati: Norwood - Linden Pointe on the Lateral
^ Sort of confused whats going on with that post. Dont know if you were asking me a question or what. According to the prestigious Norwood Times, phase two at Linden point is about to get underway. They indicate it will be a 5 story 130,000 sf building. The article states tenants will be Brown Mackie (as previously announced) and "a new hotel". Not really sure how a hotel fits into a spec office building but im sure those details will become clear at some point. I would post a link but there is no online version of the 12 page community newspaper.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I was just about to say the same thing. I'm surprised that they aren't just using those as a template, so that it all looks like one big project. I would say as long as they appear to be in the same family they would have the same effect. I think it would be pretty boring to have the same stair elements over and over again. But a series of different light and glassy elements would be very interesting.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
My question is: When will the realignment of Mehring way take place? It seems to me that it would all have to be done at once or else it wont connect. It also seems like it has to be done in order to do ANY of the work for phase 1 of the park.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
well its encouraging to hear that they claim to have gone "more bold". hopefully that doesnt mean every building is going to look like some sort of creature. looking forward to seeing the latest and greatest.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Holiday Inn
Wow....even though the images are not very clear....this project seems to be moving in the right direction. The building addresses each of the streets (as far as setback and massing) exactly as it should within the context of downtowns density. It would fit in seamlessly. I think this will really be a great addition to that area and hopefully can spark a lot more investment.

Gettysburg Battlefield
Quite the amazing place. One of the things that i found very interesting when i was there last was a display they had set up to warn of the consequences of looting. Its mind boggling to consider the shear number of artifacts still strewn about the battlefield, and amateur archeology is not something officials look to kindly on.

Dayton, KY: Manhattan Harbour
"Several residents from Riverpointe, the condo complex on Dayton's hillside, worry that Manhattan Harbour could block their views of the river valley" Maybe we should ask them to tear down their condos because the destroyed my view of the hillside. I understand the concern but give me a break.
