Cincinnati: GE Aerospace
Wow. What misplaced arrogance.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I think some of their buildings have the potential to be decent residential and with their proximity to Lytle park and the riverfront you'd think they would be in demand. In the day and age of corporate consolidation, which i believe is a good thing, you would think that there is always the chance that some of their properties might free up.

It seems to be coming down nice and easy at this point. They have made it all the way up to the northern face.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Hampton Inn / Homewood Suites (Cincinnati Enquirer Building Redevlopment)
Great to hear this is about to get started. I think this will be one of the more successfull properties downtown. The location is just unbeatable and the building is even better. Hopefully MED doesnt screw it up.

What a bunch of garbage. Does anybody know how many employees will remain at the site in Evendale? You can imagine the officials out in West Chester thumping their chests right about now...makes me want to throw up. GE probably decided to go out there because of that awesome downtown they have now.

Cincinnati: West End: The Gateway Park District (Union Terminal)
So how much of that 120 million do they have?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Holiday Inn
Yep, a little bit of infill could do amazing things for that area.

PhattyNati replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionCool! I actually recognize some of those painting for some reason. I know i saw the one Duveneck at the Taft Museum during a field trip in elementary school. We were all astonished that the young man in the portrait was smoking a cigar. Interesting stuff.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Washington Park
I drove by over the weekend and i am pleased with the the presence it has on central parkway. For some reason I had the idea that the building was set back substantially from the street. Should be interesting to see how the cladding comes together.

Cincinnati: Columbia Tusculum: Columbia Square
Thats just off Mason-Montgomery Road, right?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Holiday Inn
Doesnt seem like there is enough contextual influence at that location to necessitate a more traditional design. If they truley were to make it fit in, they might as well build a 13 story parking lot. Not that i would mind a more traditional building...if it was done well. I think this could really be great for this section of downtown. Its been a loooong time since anything of significance has been built there. Maybe it will motivate St. Xavier to do something with their land...probably not.

Cincinnati: OTR - City Home Project
So everybody thinks these buildings look alright? That they do justice to the architecture of the neighborhood? I think there are some really great things about this project. A) That its happening, period. B) That they were able to fit garage access from the back C) The courtyard feature is really great. But the street presence, architecturually speaking, is pretty weak in my opinion. Maybe im being too picky but i believe they need to rethink the street elevations. Its not working for me.

Cincinnati: Downtown - McFarland Lofts
^ "Spring '08" Thats what the banner said that they put up in May. Haha. To my suprise they actually removed the fire escape from the McFarland facade sometime this week. There are some gaping holes at the connections but i imagine they will repair these.

Cincinnati: Avondale: Burnet Avenue Redevlopment
wow. there is an incredible amount of building going on up there. some pretty interesting stuff.

Cincinnati: Madisonville: Stratford at Kenwood senior tower
Wow, they werent kidding about the High End part.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Wow...talk about two articles in two days that present absolutely nothing worth talking about. If every single move made down there is going to be super scrutinized by the enquirer then this is going to be a long LONG project. 3 million dollars is nothing yet it lends the naysayers just one more chance to throw in some bashing. I wonder what the new slogan all the "ill believe it when i see it" people will employ once they finally do "see it".

Cincinnati: Walnut Hills - Humana Center & SpringHill Suites
Looks pretty bad if you ask me. The office building turned out better than i expected so im sure it will be fine.

Cincinnati: Columbia Tusculum: Columbia Square
it was a lone ranger for the most part. they rest of the site was primarily wooded. i think there might have been a few billboards too.

Newport, KY: SouthShore Condominiums
I think this building really looks great. I hope some of the proposed projects in cincy take on an open and airy feel similar to this. I that that One River Plaza, though more regular in form and utilizing a different material pallette, will have a similar impact. I think a glassy project at 5th and Race would look really great in contrast to the more opaque skins of Carew and company.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
^^ "The last bits of foundation from the old Cinergy Field will be removed from the site by Friday," Which is a little odd. Unless they mean that there is a pile of rubble somewhere that has yet to be moved off site. Obviously with the regrading thats already been done they are no longer digging anything up. Interesting that they are using steel for the garage construction. Not that i actually know if one is better than the other for this application. If i recall correctly the vertical structure for the garages at the ballpark and the freedom center are concrete systems. I wish there was some way to block the reader comments at the bottom of each article. I cant help but look and im always pissed off when i do. People will simply stop at nothing to bash.

they have made pretty good progress the past couple days. what you are seeing in the middle of the destruction is the helix beginning to show through. they have pretty much finished the helix off as of this afternoon.

I think someone should formalize a letter to the the central office of each of those companies. This would have been something amazing at fountain square.

PhattyNati replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhat exactly are they going to be painting? While they efforts of any volunteer are certainly appreciated, do you really want a bunch of folks who dont know how to paint...painting a historic theature? Just a question.
