Cleveland: Downtown Cleveland Alliance News & Discussion
I can accept Constructive criticism , it helps and I do agree after 7pm in certain areas there is a need for ambassadors to focus more on a district for example the warehouse district for one the ambassadors are only there till 11:30 when most of the bars close at three one thing I look for on the part of the safety ambassadors is first response because alot of times if it's not a life or death situation the police are a lengthy wait to response... as far as volunteers yes it is hard when you want to help and you have no idea where to go with the DCA because it is a company with employees it may be hard to find space for volunteers I was talking about shadowing ambassadors to see what the job consits of maybe the DCA should off a weekend volunteer program where once a month the community can come out to support and help the DCA I think that would help boost morale for the downtown area and the ambassadors plus it would let people see that Cleveland is cared about and bring attention to the downtown area what do you think?? I think that would be a step towards a positive city

good job Mr Kennedy 1...lol I don't understand why there needed to be a "pun " on my name I thought this was a forum for everybody to express their opinion not a personal attack because I may not agree with you and Black Ops when the ambassadors for the most part are African American is offensive... now is far as thetime the ambassadors are in the field I don't know if you are downtown but the car thieves, homeless, and panhandlers do not have 9-5 hours they are there 24/7 yes it is worst at night but I for one feel safer especially during school hours when I see the ambassadors out when the juveniles from the schools in the surrounding areas are targeting random pedestrians to rob and assault ... lets go back to a time when there wasn't ambassadors outside and the homeless would walk up to your table while eating and ask for spare change or the square was ridiculously filthy you didn't want to sit at a bus stop after work... now I know the program is new and there are bugs like any new program give it a chance it's nice to know when a person comes from work they can be escorted to their car instead of clucthing your purse for dear life.. and Mr Kennedy is right at anytime if anyone wanted to ride or walk around with an ambassador for an eight hour shift I am sure the DCA would welcome it so come out and brave this wonderful Cleveland weather and that is a true "pun" on words

Thank you for not attacking me your right I am new to this discussion I completely understand your frustration I to would be frustrated if I was paying someone to read a book my question is why wasn't the ambassador approached regarding this matter and given the opportunity to explain him self but your right a reading a book in public should;t be tolerated but as far as leadership the leadership is strong and the ambassadors do "believe in Cleveland" there is one supervisor to five districts with 3 to four ambassadors per district my idea is that there may be a need for an asst supervisor or better accountability for the ambassadors what I don't know because the job is about customer service and interacting with the public but if the ambassadors feel they are being baby sat or have to look over their shoulders it takes away from the interaction with the public ...my thing is what is the positive way to handle this ...a lot of the ambassadors that are working with the DCA have been here since the beginning or soon after the ambassadors have been dealing with the cold , verbal and physical threats and acts but they do their job because the love it I am not saying it's not appreciated by you it's just dishearting not just on your part but also on the ambassadors part too

U know it is disheartening to know that we have nothing better to do than to follow our ambassadors around and take pictures , now I know some of the attitudes of the ambassadors have changed but so has the community a lot of times when ambassadors speak to pedestrians or the homeless they receive no response the service of the ambassadors is to patrol the district and there are certain areas that receive higher attention such as the E 4th area do to the fact the property owners complained that it didn't receive enough attention u know what I find that it seems to me that there is no pleasing people when the program first started the ambassadors received flak from the city from doing there jobs and now that may be a few might have slacked off they receive flak from not doing enough when they are called to certain areas to patrol heavily pictures pop up of them focusing on an area now I do agree reading a book in public is and should not be tolerated , but it's funny there are no pictures of ambassadors doing a good job and I for one have noticed the change in downtown since the ambassadors have come on the scene keep up the good work ambassadors
