  1. I've scanned through the forum seeing if this question has already been answered, but I haven't found anything. I apologize in advance if I missed it. Is RTA in the process of upgrading the destination signs on the Red Line cars? It appears that all the signs have been removed and now there's just simple place cards in the front windows.
  2. I was very pleased this morning getting on the Red Line. The operator did not let anyone pay on the train and said they should have paid in the station, and for the time being they'll have the chance to pay at Tower City. RTA has some temporary fareboxes manned before you go through the turnstiles, probably for this very reason. I don't think they are checking people and writing tickets yet, letting them get use to the new system.
  3. NPR did a story last night about Beeping Buses in Des Moines, Iowa. It mentioned Cleveland in it as well. The link is below: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=111629526 Of interesting note, Des Moines is eliminating all left hand turns on their routes in downtown.
  4. I just meant that it's not like the blue/green line at all, because people won't have to pay cash fares at Tower City, nor when they get on the train. The POP cards go through much more quickly, just like any RTA fare media. [glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300]Honestly, I hope RTA actually makes people use the fareboxes, because if they cut people slack like on the Healthline, people will still insist on paying on the train, and then things definitely won't be any faster. They really need to force people to start using the fareboxes, even if they are a giant PITA to use.[/glow][/glow] I totally agree. They need to take the fareboxes out of the Healthline BRTs and the Red Line Trains and force people to use the machines or risk getting a ticket.

I bought a house there not too long ago. I'm very happy to be living there, but compared to Ohio City or Tremont, it's way quieter, which took some time for me to get used to. I did buy a house right near the West Park Rapid, so my connection to downtown is still very strong. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for.
  6. The honking is extremely irritating. I have several friends who bought condos in the Park Building and they are all going nuts. Actually I can hear it out my apartment building right now.
  7. I'll try to respond to a couple of the issues raised about the planters. 1. There is no taxpayer money in these things, so they can relax. All the money was privately raised or donated. 2. The planters are privately maintained by DCA and Parkworks. 3. There are gaps in the planters because of the logistical issues on the street. There are many vaults underneath the sidewalk that would not allow the full weight of the planter to be placed there. I hope that answers everything.

I made the mistake of just using a cable lock. I should have known better. I only gave the flyer to the bike shops. They said they needed the serial number or they wouldn't be able to hold the bike if it did come in. I figured the people on Urban Ohio were of upstanding character. :)

Is your bike registered? Did you fill out a CPD incident report? My thoughts are, if it was stolen in that area, it's still in that area. Yes it is registered and I did fill out a police report. Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I'll check with Shaker Cycle and a few of the other bike shops in the area. If anyone sees a Blue Schwinn Frontier GSX with a rear seat bag and the License #0419 please let me know. :) I've been told that you should always have the serial numbers from your bike frame someplace safe. That way, if the police find your bike, you can adequately identify it. I've taken everyone's advice and went to all the local bike shops on the west side and dropped off a flyer. I've posted the flyer information below. BIKE STOLEN from the West Park Rapid Station on May 7th, 2009. Schwinn Frontier GSX Blue, had small wedge bag under the seat Whitehouse, OH License #0419 Serial Number: M6THO7048 Police Report Number: TP0901029 I appreciate everyone's help with this. I do hope I get it back. I've had this bike for 15 years and kept it in perfect condition (it was my first ever major purchase). I'm more upset that this was only my second day of riding it to work, next time I'm buying one of those locks with a warranty.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that you had to report to both. I just called CPD and they said that since I filled one out with RTA I do not have to fill one out with them.

I had my bike stolen from the West Park Rapid Station last evening (my second day of riding it to work). Does anyone have any suggestions of getting it back or is this a lost cause? I made a police report with RTA, but I know they are too busy to do any serious investigation. Any places in Cleveland that end up selling this "hot" stuff?
  13. In terms of the proof to payment system, can someone please tell me when they plan to role this out on the Red Line? I'm getting kind of tired of waiting 5 minutes at Puritas for people to pay their fare at night.
  14. I hope Jerry or JetDog can answer this. Has there been any considerations to adding a stop on the 55 Bus at Edgewater Park by going down the exit ramp and then getting right back on? This wouldn't have to be at rush hour or maybe by request only. I know the 86 does this by going down the ramps at the airport and then right back on the freeway. Thanks.
  15. Moving out of downtown is one of the dumbest things they could do. There would be no more reason to give the JCF a seat at any of the community tables regarding anything.
