Akron - Under Construction
Is this sarcasm, or are you really going to be working a UofA? Many people feel UofA is taking over the city. In reality, it is only the East Side of the city. Oh, and and some good video's of the house moving available here: http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/22717999.html I will be working there...

City or Suburb
City of Akron my whole life except for a 2 year stint in my early 20's in the suburb of Oak Park, Il. I was roughly across North Ave. from Chicago though...

Akron - Under Construction
My future employer is lookin great! They're gonna do wonders wonders for downtown by moving the Bus Depot off of main. All the loitering & Bus traffic leaving may bring even more new development downtown.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
It's not the same thing. That being said, it was in bad taste given his position to go to the playoff game wearing a yankee's cap.

cleveland commuting
I live in the West Hill neighborhood of Akron right now but work all over North East Ohio, many times being in 3 or 4 counties in one day. I also went to the UofA and knew professors who lived the Cleveland area. All the suggestions have been excellent imo. I love Cleveland Heights also but it's a bit removed from I-271. If your heart is set on Cleveland I would look for something close to a Freeway. I can get to Downtown Cleveland in 35 minutes from my neighborhood just west of Downtown Akron. If you're looking for somewhere in Akron I would suggest any of the neighborhoods along Route 18. From Downtown they are West Hill, Highland Square, Merriam(The Valley), Wallhaven and Fairlawn Heights. West Hill can be sketchy depending on the street or block but the others are quiet with great housing stock, similar to the Cleveland Heights/Shaker Heights area in Cleveland. As far as searching for apartments the best way to do so is by pounding the pavement in the aforementioned neighborhoods. Craigslist isn't any good and the Classifieds would be easier for you to search if you knew the area. There are many walk up buildings in this part of town as well as some beautiful homes for rent as well. I understand your desire for Cleveland Heights as I've wanted the same thing(I also lived in Chicago/Oak Park for a while) but it will be a pain during the winter and it's "hike" just to get to the Freeway and I would "only" have to get to Twinsburg for work. Let us know how everything works out and if you need anymore help.

Census: Ohio Metropolitan Areas
Does anybody remember how accurate the estimates during 90's were compared to the findings of the 2000 census?

Midwest Metro Population Growth in 2007
True, but the same thing could be said for a large number of communities in Medina coutny, or the more curious decision of Akron and Canton not being a MSA/CSA despite being much closer and connected than Akron and Cleveland.

Midwest Metro Population Growth in 2007
I think if Akron was as small as a Hamilton... it would definately be part of Cleveland MSA... but Akron city is almost on the same tier as Cleveland city... so its size affords it enough "independence" to be considered its own MSA... as the immediate Akron area is a major employment center... of course... there is enough connectivity between Cleveland and Akron to warrant a CSA. true but summit county benefits from celveland sprawl. These people aren't suddenly out of the Cleveland Metro just because they moved to Summit County. Many probably commute downtown, etc. How is it handled for a place like SF-Oakland? Is Oakland too big to be considered apart of SF? I'm no expert... but it always seemed to me that the northern tier of Summit County municipalities was more aligned with Cleveland than Akron... if you were to do a sub-county analysis of "metros"... these suburbs could possibly be counted as part of "Cleveland" instead of "Akron"... but county level is the unit of analysis... so there's bound to be some overlap sometimes. Everything North and East of Hudson is aligned with Cleveland (Macedonia, Twinsburg City & Township, Northfield, etc.) Hudson is a mixed bag. South of Hudson there are still plenty of people who work in Metro Cleveland, that being said the same thing can be said for those northern cities concerning Akron. Frankly with jobs being so tight I see cars from Mahoning, Stark and Columbiana county at the business next to where I work in Twinsburg.

Akron,Cleveland, Youngstown Streetcars
Commuter Rail with stops in DT Cleveland(at Tower City/RTA Hub), DT Akron (at or near the New Metro Hub), Akron-Canton Airport and DT Canton(SARTA Hub) would be ideal imo. As mentioned before, a streetcar line that connects the Hospitals and University in Akron would be ideal, beyond that I see no reason for anything more elaborate, just more frequent routes.

Akron Neighborhoods (North Hill, Highland Sq., Middlebury, Goodyear Hts.)
Excellent Job and I live just east of Highland Square and I'm disappointed with what's gone on with the retail also. It's still a great neighborhood though.

Hispanic populations in Ohio's Cities
Not that I know of....I know that there's a club downtown that has a "latin" night with Reggaeton, Salsa, Merengue..etc. I don't know the name though.

Hispanic populations in Ohio's Cities
It's grown some since the 2000 census. There are a couple of neighborhoods that I personally know of that now have sizable Latino populations including the Bodegas.
