Middletown-Monroe-Lebanon: General Business & Economic News
The facility at the Nelbar underpass is Temple Inland--a separate company (although it too was under the Gardner family control at one time). The facility that is staying open is also on Charles Street. Both facilities (the one staying open and the one closing) are part of the same complex. Their roots date back to Gardner Paperboard, later Diamond International.

Could have been worse I guess. At least part of the operation is staying open.

Middletown: Development and News
Rumor has it Elder-Beerman will be gone by January 09. I blame CBL. They have ruined the mall with the inability to put forth a workable development solution.

Cleveland: National City Bank News & Info
IRAs are just type of account. Investments in IRAs can be federally insured, if they are backed by the FDIC or NCUA (National Credit Union Administration). These would include CDs and high-yield savings accounts offered by banks, thrifts and credit unions. Other IRA investment choices include stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other securities which typically aren't backed by the full faith and credit of a U.S. government agency.

Ahla Springboro? Mason has a new downtown....it's called Deerfield Town Center. When I drive through this, I blink and miss it. Thanks for getting me to see the bigger picture.

My grandmother and her husband lived in WCH when I was younger. I remember the first time my dad said we were going up to visit her in WaRshington Court House, I thought we were going to go see her in jail LOL..I always wondered how the name came about.

Contrasting Middletown
Love that b&w picture of Main Street. Did you take that picture from the Sorg Opera building? I've oftne wondered what some of th homes on Main Street originally looked like prior to alternations and vinyl siding. The Oakland and Crawford areas have been declining for years though. More recently, the Crawford area had some vibrant businesses and decent homes. Not so much anymore. It is one of the worst areas in town. Thanks again for the tour Ink.

Cincinnati: Fifth Third Bank
The markets are just tough right now with financial stocks, given the mortgage/housing crisis and continued margin compression. Still, if stocks like AKS can go from $1-2 a share to over $50, I think 5/3 could make a comeback as well when the economy strengthens. So it may be a good time to buy. However, a lower stock price makes it a more attractive acquisition.

Is 5th 3rd a good place to work?
I hear there is huge focus on sales..but I would assume that's at the branch level. My guess is that would carry though corporate as well, depending on the position.

The Dating Thread
But you could be bald. That could be ground for divorce. I was just having this being single and in my 30s discussion with my boss at lunch today. She's divorced; I've never been married. What she said I thought was interesting She said she could have a date every night if she wanted, but given her options, she thinks she'll pass. Sometimes its not about whether or not there are enough single people. But how picky you are. I already know I'm picky, It's my own fault. I have to deal with it lol.

The Dating Thread
I don't know what's worse...people talking about their children or their dog. I guess I'm used to being the third wheel in most of my friendships. Most of the time they leave me giving thanks that I am still single :)

Haverhill: Industrial Developments
preservationrestoration replied to a post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI had about three hundred shares...purchased 100 at 11.25 and 200 at 4.65. Sold when I broken a little over a year ago. It was before the lockout. So yeah, I've seen their stock price. It's not a pretty sight for me LOL. And to think, I continued to hold on to Delphi through all this. I guess that's why I have a financial planner now,. I'm not surprised they are looking at AK's Middletown facility. Still, I don't think AK would give up Middletown without Ashland being part of the deal. I believe the difference in the Middletown Works and what MMI was proposing is that Middletown has a Coke Plant. Don't know if that would be a liability or an asset during the consideration process.

Haverhill: Industrial Developments
preservationrestoration replied to a post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThere's already a plant in Middletown they can have. I'm sure AK would be willing to unload. :)
