  1. Carter Manor is the biggest pain in the a$$ in Downtown Cleveland, outside of 1802 E.13th. If you only knew how much time CPD spent there compared to time that could be spent patrolling for downtown property crimes, panhandlers, etc. you would freak. Assuming everyone living there relocated out of the downtown area, it TRULY would make for a safer Downtown. This is WONDERFUL news!
  2. That's actually a set being built for "Fun Size" the kids movie they're filming, and supposedly they re gonna be tearing down all the additions once complete filming
  3. haha, i said the same F@#$ing thing
  4. OSHP are on I 90 until mid October in Cuyahoga County as part of an annual speeding initiative, be warned
  5. @clevelandohio, current homicide count is at apprx 26, up 7% from last year, so far
  6. Does anyone have an update on the mayfield lofts? i drove by the other day and noticed an updated sign on mayfield that shows 27 coltman as well but when i got home and checked the website its now disabled
  7. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/03/stanley_block_one_of_downtown.html Really I'm the first? Been waiting to see this up but haven't seen it. Guess u get the lame version until someone wants to post it who knows how to throw in the title and first paragraph crap.
  8. it was nixed by local residents and the city council due to the fact it would "lower house prices" from the "constant helicopter flights". I live in westpark, we have a friggin flight path directly over our heads, i really dont think a potential occasional helicopter is the cause of westparks falling home values.
  9. WKYC reported late last year or earlier in this year that according to cleveland police reports, e.105/st.clair is the most dangerous area of this city. i work in this area, I can assure you that 105/superior is no different. Wild west, yes.
  10. U can find the lift bridge opening times in your local USCG notice to mariners publication or hailing them on channel 13 the designated bridge to bridge (not neccessarily train bridge but bridge of a ship) channel. They typically raise it on a set schedule of say 10 minutes every 20 minutes, etc.
  11. I was wondering why Howl at the Moon wasn't just relocating since they were "so successful" for so long, that was odd to me
  12. wasnt there an article about a year ago about how i think panzica had a lien on the property and the condo building was in the middle of a lawsuit and it prevented them from selling condos? i think i remember that from somewhere
  13. Its my opinion that for this area to advance in success, further than what it has already accomplished, they need more residential. This area is emerging and thriving, however its still somewhat isolated from the "heart" of downtown cleveland foot traffic. More 668 is the key to success here

  15. any idea as to how many jobs this will bring? or salary range?
  16. The one rendering from the design challenge earlier this year or last, showed a grassy pedestrian ramp on top of the proposed transportation center that bridged over the tracks and connected the mall to north coast harbor, it looked sweet
  17. Whats the status of the North Coast Transportation Center now that 3C is dead? I didnt see that in any of the renderings
  18. FYI, Burglary is when someone breaks into an occupied structure such as a home, hotel room, apartment. B & E is when someone breaks into an unoccupied structure such as a tool shed, a house which is currently vacant but not abandoned, etc. Technically, I do believe cars can be considered B & E, however the city mandates we write up the report as a criminal trespass motor vehicle, to lower the true crime stats from what it should be. Just like stolen vehicles recovered are not written as such, they are considered "property found" to again show less negative stats
  19. I agree with statistical blip, and the end of the year is one of the most violent times of the year due to the holiday time robberies, so expect that number to go up, there's already been 4 more so far. Also the criminals unfortunately seem to be getting a little bit smarter. There are shootings every night in this city, usually multiple shootings, and about 80% of the time they are shot below the waist. Maybe its a bad shot, but it appears to be that they wanna get their revenge yet "avoid the murder rap" and not spend the rest of their life in jail and take the Felonious Assault charge, build up their street cred, shoot below the waist so they don't kill them, and if caught only spend a few years in prison opposed to 30.
  20. Its become my opinion that over the years, Cleveland is the #1 "go to city" ,whether good or bad, whenever any sort of tv, movie, commerical, etc. need to reference a city, i kinda love it. I remember earlier this year or last there was a sprint commercial talking about driving through Cleveland and showed a map and everything.
  21. No, they ve been doing it for awhile, i think its cleaning the facade somehow
  22. Your problem is that you went on a Friday in September when the nighttime temp was 60 degrees. The problems occur on high school summer break in June-August when its 75 at 3am. The problems typically begin around midnight as was mentioned, but UNUSUALLY only on Saturdays, which leads me to believe that IMO, it is HYPE driven due to the amount of media exposure. Its true, cold weather deters outdoor crime, and summer is over (which means the DV's will pick up). But they do still have the extra police details as of tonight, and I do not know how it went as I was not down there, but i suspect they will be winding down the extra police presence soon. Due to the weather.
  23. KJP, you are a newspaper man, newspapers like all media companies are about 1 thing, profit. With this headline "Continental document suggests huge cuts in Hopkins flights" do i feel the PD "f$&ked up", no. Any educated person can deduct from the "suggest" portion of the title that the ensuing article is pure speculation and "hype" driven. I'm sorry, I understand that Cleveland.bomb typically represents a negative POV in what it reports, however, as one who deplores that style of reporting, you don't need to "hop on that bandwagon to defeat it". In the long run it makes YOU lose credibility. Keep in mind, PD reports that way because they know that's the tone the majority of their readers wanna hear, whether right or wrong. And this is from a constant PD critic.
  24. I 100% agree with that Quote, however, my honest opinion, despite being a DEM, is that come 11/10, Ohio will go RED due to the political environment and the uneducated majority base of the voters. And despite the fact I hope Ohio goes BLUE, I think the DEM party big wigs realize the OH is a loss this Mid Term election and will unfortunately rule it out as such.
