Eventually we will all be flying on "Glorious Airline #1". One airline, one flight a day from all cities over 100,000 people. No choice...and you will like it.

Read the web site www.newglobalairline.com very closely. Go to the "good for our communities" section and read about the hubs. Read between the lines. All of the other hubs are mentioned as remaining as largest hubs. CVG is described as being "a vital part of the combined network." Memphis is going to have extensive domestic and international flights and will serve as one of the combined carriers largest hubs. No need for DWT, ATL, MEM and CVG. My prediction: CVG will only be a regional carrier hub - serving small cities. Probably will cut about 50% of the mainline service. That's my guess. Big winners here are ATL, MEM, SLC and DTW.

Go to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's web site and take note that the people in Minny have the same concerns about losing a hub as we do. Do you really think they are going to operate NINE hubs??? This is nothing more than a political move. Once they get through the governmental review, then they will slash and burn hubs - guaranteed.
  4. CMH is too big for what they need. Lots of empty and underutilized square footage at that place.
  5. I agree. Awesome addition to the streetscape. Good food, good prices and nice atmosphere. Love it!
  6. The Square is coming along well. The tower crane is now erected. Good things are happening.
  7. Prime & Wine burned. The spot where it was located at the corner of Montgomery and Kenwood Roads is still vacant. I am not making that up Cincy-Rise. Also, Cincy-Rise, I know a thing or two about the Cincy retail scene considering I have a hand in quite a bit of the retail stuff that gets discussed on this site and have lived through the fickle Cincy retail scene since I was born. High end department stores historically struggle in Cincy in great part because of Cincinnatian's generally conservative spending patterns.
  8. It sounds like the renovation of the 5/3 facade won't begin until January. Why can't they do it at 2AM. Nothing going on then?
  9. All department stores are downsizing. It helps with their sales per square foot numbers. I would guess they built the other stores too big. Also, high end department stores in Cincy have historically done poorly. Saks is limping along with incentives from the City. There are no other high-end department stores in the market. To many in Cincy, Macy's is high end...JC Penny's and Sears is just right.
  10. Why hasn't the tower crane been erected? That is at least a week late at this point.
  11. D U M P.
  12. CVG is in Boone County but is run by the Kenton County Airport Board. Go figure.
  13. Nordstrom makes perfect sense. Any department store would be clamoring for that space. Highest sales per square foot in a region of 2.1 million people. Hello?
  14. A few options for the old Parisian: 1.) Bulldoze and add more streetscape lifestyle stores; 2.) bulldoze and create mixed-use residential commercial mix; 3.) convert into Nordstrom/Von Maur, whatever. The store is huge and old. The parking garage was designed for station wagons not SUV's (low clearance height). My vote - bulldoze and create a mixed use development on the site that will compliment the mall. :-o
  15. I absolutely cannot stand the light towers on the square. Why couldn't they have made those temporary. They interfere with the view of the fountain. Maybe they will look better with the trees.
  16. Still plans to develop the site - blah blah blah. When?
  17. Free speech is free speech. If you want censored speech then let's close the square right now. Let's sell it to private enterprise and take it away from the public. She is entitled to her opinion. She is entitled to speak it.
  18. Graeter's is unreal. I love ice cream and try it everywhere I go in the country. Haven't found anything better than Graeter's. Went to Harrel's in Mass which is supposed to be some of the best in the Northeast and came home and had Graeter's. Well, Graeter's knocked me on my ass - it just blew me away. Unreal. Nothing like it. Period. Cincinnati's best food export.
  19. They should have held off the opening and waited until it was done instead of doing it half assed.
  20. Sounds like a disappointing turn out. I heard that they were expecting 40,000. They got about 500 to 600. The key to all of this is relevance. How relevant is this to people outside of the City? How often will they use it? How does it enhance and interact with their life? I think it is a great start. The draw will be in the future once everything is open. I am looking forward to that. Everyone who pays taxes in the City should have been at the opening. I don't know what more could have been done to bring people down yesterday.
  21. I think it looks great. Unique.
  22. This is turning into a mess. Why didn't anyone anticipate the liquor license issue many montha ago? So, here is what is going to happen. The Square will open. The people will come and they will see a partially finished Square that looks not all that different to the average person than the last Square. They are going to get in their cars and never come back. Why couldn't they set a realistic opening date when all issues are resolved and tenants open for business. Why the rush job - once again.

    Lima looks really great!
  24. I have noticed that people do not stop for peds in crosswalks in Cincy. They damn near run you over. Also, when jogging or walking, many people don't say hello or even acknowledge you. They keep their head down or look away. Rude.
  25. Just let AIG do whatever it thinks the market will absorb. They are the ones taking the risk. The more the city/county get involved to dictate exactly how this goes, down the number of units, the more likely the whole thing will crater and AIG will back away.
