  1. They aren't making any money downtown and Kenwood be a much better location for them. They would buy out the City to get out of its deal and get to Kenwood. Retailers are clamouring to get to Kenwood.
  2. That is correct. It is ready for a 25 story building. 5/3 owns the air rights.
  3. No way. Dept store is going to be Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus. Could be the Saks from downtown too. Kenwood is IT for retail in Cincy.

That is CVG and the building is still there just refaced.
  5. The first one is of the proposed Fountain Square West in the late 1980's and early 1990's. It was going to be taller than the Carew. It, like the economy, fell a part during that time and is now Fountain Place which is the two story Macy's. There are still plans for a 5/3 tower above the store. But with 5/3 likely to be bought those plans have no life. The second picture is an urban garden that was once proposed for the same site. Sad.
  6. Vacancy rates are going up for Class A and B space. The Grandaddy is not going to be built any time soon. My prediction all along on this. I have been in Cincy long enough to know that.
  7. The City looks great except for the boring and anemic grouping of skyscrapers and the terrible soviet style apartment towers everywhere.

I have always said the government should stop funding all of these airlines and let them go away one by one. Then the government should run Airline, or Glorious Airline #1 and every city over 50,000 should get service. It would cost less annually than the war in Iraq.

Even if Delta went away totally, which experts say is highly unlikely given Cincinnati's advantageous geographic location, Cincinnati would eliminate Terminals 1 and 2 and Comair's C and combine all flights in Terminal A and B. Cincinnati could sustain a 9 to 11 million passenger a year airport on its own. What would be lost are some jobs, and one hell of a great flight schedule. From Cincinnati you can go pretty much anywhere. I think this is just a readjustment. We are opening a new runway and expanding another. This airport is well posititioned into the future. It may be a little quieter for a while.

X, I wouldn't lump Cincinnati with Columbus. Cincy has a much stronger history. If you talk with people from NYC they know about Cincinnati. In fact, they give us a good deal of respect from my experience.
  11. That architect was just talking like an academic. That works in arch school but not in real life. Scary.
  12. It is a tiny house on a major road. I have no doubt that it was built in 1913. The appraised value does not necessarily equate to the market value.
  13. I used to live in DC and they have three IKEA's there. I have lots of IKEA stuff in my house. In fact a lot of it has fallen a part. You will go once or twice and never go again. It is catered to twenty-somethings. You don't see anyone else buying the stuff. Cleveland is the most likely to get one. Cincy would be good because you would draw DAY, Columbus, Louisville, Lexington, and Indy. I dont think it is as exciting as people think.
  14. We have the worst convention center of any city in the US. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING besides CHEAP! This building is a complete mish mash of design. None of it matches. Who could design something like this. I think the thing should be torn down immediately and they should be made to start over. BIGGEST Architectural disaster in Cincinnati. Somebody's head should roll for this one!
  15. That building is heinous. Sad they couldn't have done something better. That is what happens when the cities tries to do modern chic on a shoestring. I hate it.
  16. Cleveland is a neat city. I like Lake cities. When I come, where should I stay? Wyndham or Ritz?
  17. This whole thing stinks of back room dealing. I think the City should hold it up as long as it takes to make a point that underhanded politics is unacceptable.
  18. Same old same old. It is nice Dayton is catching up though.
  19. Was this once a housing project that had been redone in the 70s and then closed? Looks like a ghost town. Odd. Could be an incredible community. I hope it does!
  20. I also agree that with the guy about the trees and the European influence. I hope the parking garage guy was joking. Since when is the Visitor's Bureau moving. I thought that was a nice addition. I hope they don't kick everyone out just so the whole thing can sit empty for years without tenants. That area really needs help though. The Westin lobby needs to be gutted.
  21. It would also be a great place for a huge Ferris wheel like in Chicago.
  22. It doesnt look like much but some grass. I want a very formal park.
  23. What the hell???? I have never in my life seen anything so ridiculous... not even from the City of Cincinnati.
  24. Good for Youngstown. It is a tiny arena though which probably is perfect for the size of the town.
  25. Thanks Brutus Buckeye - I think you are right!
