Large Gay and Lesbian population = Urban Revitalization?
That part of Mount Auburn you are referring to is Prospect Hill area and it is quite gentrified. So that is no surprise. This is all very interesting though. Thanks for this post.

Petersburg, KY: Creation Museum: Development and News
No, it was entirely privately financed, through donations and fundraising. No public money was involved in the construction of the Creation Museum. But the Noah's Ark theme park thing will receive a public subsidy correct?

Petersburg, KY: Creation Museum: Development and News
Creation Museum rejects same-sex couple from Date Night event PETERSBURG - A Date Night event at the Creation Museum in Petersburg was disrupted when a same-sex couple was denied entry. While accounts differ, what is clear is that a man who planned to enter the Feb. 11 event with a male friend was told the two would not be allowed to enter. Additionally, they did not receive a refund of the $71.90 cost for the two tickets they had purchased online. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110219/NEWS0103/102200330/Creation-Museum-rejects-same-sex-couple?odyssey=tab

Cincinnati: Downtown: Residence Inn (Phelps Building Redevelopment)
May according to my mom, but late February according to my brother-in-law.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
yes, judging by the renderings i can tell that the current triangle parking lot will be turned into a green space. That is a bad use of land. We already have an over abundance of open space in DT. We don't need more. It seems to me that it was left over space they didn't know what to do with. Im hoping Broadway isn't closed off. That also seems like a misguided idea.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
whats up with the giant open space in the front of the casino? they planning on using it for events or something? Seems like a bad idea and a poor design.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
+1 Totally agree. I haaaaate the superblock style. 100% agree as well. But how would you go about dividing the blocks into plots in a proper way? What is the range for a proper plot size for a human scaled urban environment?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Thats what it is going to be. Except for a better mix of uses and an actual integration into an urban fabric instead of an island development ala NOTL. So atleast its a more authentic form. Even if it is filled with unauthentic establishments.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
That image is amazing. A lot of DT urban design guidelines these days prevent this type of signage from existing. The new Gateway signage is sterile and too similar.

Cincinnati: Mayor Mark Mallory
Mayors have been on reality tv shows a number of times. Just watch Project Runway!!!
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
That is good news. The Banks is obviously becoming an appropriate place for this type of concept. And DT needs more chains like this IMO.

Westerville, Ohio
I like this section of Westerville. In reality, the only reason Uptown Westerville thrives is because of the sprawl around it. If it weren't for this development, it would be in the same boat as so many other small Ohio towns.

Eurotrip 2010: Part I: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
My favorite Euro. city I've been to. It felt like you were walking through a park all of the time while strolling along the canals. Then take one turn and you're suddenly in an amazing pedestrian hyper urban environment. Love love it.

America is Over-Retailed - Too Many Stores
Well yea. If you look at the amount of retail space per person in this country compared to Euro. counterparts, its staggering. Something to the tune of 25sf/1person in the US compared to 2-3sf/person in Euro.

outsiders perspective here. Cleveland has always seemed more blue dog democrat type and less progressive liberal type.
