ha! yea they sure proved themselves alright.
  4. ^LMAO!!!
  5. the wisest thing you can do with any tax dollars is invest them in urban cores and in infrastructure that already exists. its a bit of the pot calling the kettle black when you have suburbanites telling the City to use tax dollars wisely considering that most suburbs continue to build unnecessary infrastructure and demand more tax dollars to continue their increasingly unsustainable existance.
  6. I hate you (and miss you)
  7. It's knee jerk reactions to change. they'll get used to it and love it in the long run.
  8. What are these "other problems"? What non-transportation capital investment could be made to address these "other problems"? I find it very interesting when people blame the City of Cincinnati for its population losses, as if the City made individual mistakes that caused this to happen. I find this hard to do when what has happened in Cincinnati has happened to hundreds of cities across the nation, and all at the same time. something tells me all these cities didn't individually happen to make the same mistakes all at once.....
  9. thanks for these Sherman. hehe....touchy.
  10. what other developments that theyve been involved with has a 'gated community' resulted ? Exclusive communities, maybe, but not gated.
  11. Seriously...the more I think about this the more livid I am becoming. Ridiculous. How can the City let this happen? Where is the University in all of this? How did this come out of nowhere? I need a site plan of some sorts but this sounds absolutely horrendous.
  12. this development SUCKS at first glance. Tearing down the Friars Club for a GATED community in the middle of the city? This is moving backwards people.
  13. I had that thought as well. But I am guessing they are making that decision so people know where the parking is. But appropriate, attractive signage should solve that problem.
  14. well look at that, a nice structure in front on the parking garage. overall, thats a tight, urban plan. Happy with it.
  15. I find it very interesting that people like me are getting attacked for asking for and demanding better architecture and urban design. The City deserves better and the fact that all of you people (those bitching about us bitching) have settled on this at best mediocre building and urban design really goes to show what you expect out of your city and of yourselves. Great cities never settle, great cities believe they can do better. In this case, Cincy could have done WAY better and there is nothing wrong with bringing attention to that fact.
  16. oh no, dirty sandpit is starting to venture out of the queen city square thread. get ready....it's about to get frustrating.
  17. this building should habe been built on 4th street. the retail area is way too short and doesn't fit into the current building canyon. and oh yea, the building is way too FAT. sorry. this just depresses me.
  18. I've always thought this as well... Has points that resemble art-deco but is modern by 2010 standards too. I dont care what anyone says, this building is NOT modern. 1980's mod. yes. 2010. no. what it is is an eyesore of catastrophic proportions. Ok, so maybe a bit extreme. but it is ugly.
  19. (and btw, the first four are in the Chatham Arch neighborhood. Not St. Joseph).
  20. I was wondering when these were going to appear. Thanks for these. Indy sure looks pretty good in here. And sorry I kept getting in the way of your shots. My butt kept showing up. woops.
  21. lol. did you take the time to draw those lines in that picture when you could have just googled the project and found out that the project has phases and this is why the western part is not yet under construction.

great news. which building is this?
  23. I've seen Nashville's riverfront park. IMO, the actual park that goes down to the river....it's nothing to write home about.
  24. i agree though, it seems architecturally uninspired from the exterior. It looks very Fisher College of Business to me. The look is great for a business school. But for the Union....eh.
  25. I know it looks just as bad as the renders put it. But just think we won't be able to remember the way Cincinnati looked when it wasn't there. This Building is having a huge impact on the skyline! For the worse, IMO.
