  1. hehe, I stayed at Hotel Indigo when I was there 2 months ago. It was just ok, but my room was unbelievably large. Uncomfortably large. ha.
  2. also...Octoberfest should be Oktoberfest...right?
  3. great graphic. The only issues I have is clarity. With issues like these, people need to be able to look at the image once and be able to take away its message. With the font you have, it requires a double take to really be able to read it.
  4. Photoshopping those in would take more time than photoshopping the streetcars themselves. in Portland? Photoshopping is an art. I am working on this streetscape project and the client demands a before and after image of the streetscape...no renderings allowed. Try photoshopping existing trees out of a picture and putting new trees into it and filling in the gaps with whats behind the old trees. Bah!
  5. thanks for these. looks good. I need to get back out to denver.

What? I meant I need to stop driving back and forth. I feel like I have traversed Ohio these past few weeks. Oh no wait, I have. I am staying in Indiana for a while.

You expect me to get out of work and be down there by 6? Bah! Sorry, not going to happen :(
  9. watching hgtv right now. A couple who lives in DT Chicago said their one parking spot that came with their condo cost an additional $27,000. They said that was cheap! That is one expensive parking spot.
  10. love the video. thanks for sharing.
  11. I guess 130' could be right. It would be roughly 20% of the total height. That seems like a lot though.
  12. Facebook is great for networking really. I don't use it to check up on my friends. Really, I use it as a way to make contacts, keep in contact, create contacts, get involved, and understand whats happening around me. Through the News Feed, I can learn about random things people recently became a fan of, an article someone posted, or an event someone is going to. Thats the true importance of fb.

AJ, I am not saying the UC Grad program is bad. it is well regarded and highly ranked. It is not studio based but you can make it such if you take studios as electives. But you are only required to take one. If I were you, I would look elsewhere and try to get into a studio based grad. program (have you looked at Larch programs?) and then try to get a co-op in Cincinnati. Just because you go to school in Cincinnati doesn't mean you'll get a co-op there. I got mine in Indy while living in Cincy. But if you think going to the grad. program is the best way to make connections, then go for it, you can make it a studio based experience.

Ok AJ, I am just seeing this for the first time. But I think I can give you some advice on wanting to become an urban designer, since this is my current career aspiration and I have begun to attain this aspiration. If you want an education in urban design, I don't think UC's Grad. program is necessarily the answer. However, they do have an urban design specialization (which I specialized in) and I took 4 studios in 2 years and had a great internship that turned into my current job. I would look at Michigan's program. To become an urban designer, from my experience, you need the following skills (don't know if you already know this but I am going to throw it your way anyway): AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup or other 3d rendering (not an absolute must but desired), sketch artist. GIS is not a must for a designer although I think it is good to have as many GIS files end up acting as a base for illustrations. AT UC's grad program, you will learn everything except AutoCAD. I taught myself that. And thats essentially the name of the game, if you want it, you have to do it yourself. Designers in general are snobby and will refuse to give you a chance at becoming an urban designer. Thus, you have to do it yourself. My boss is a landscape architect and it has taken me a while to gain his respect from a graphics stand point. He is finally including me on design decisions and problem solving and now that he knows I know CAD, I am getting to produce things. Hhhmmm, well I don't know if you are still in architecture (the last time I talked to you, you were in architecture) but I would stay in it and finish and then get a masters in urban design or planning. If you want to be an urban designer, coming from a design background will help. I did not have a design background in undergrad. and thus have found it difficult to be taken seriously as an urban designer. Ok I am done, if you have any other quesitons, let me know. Not sure if any of this helps, I feel like I went off on a few tangents. Good luck in figuring out what you want to do. You certainly have plenty of time to figure it out.
  18. always great to see good news coming out of otr. What was funny about that video randy posted was how the last scene ended with a shot of someone walking in with a trader joes bag. It almost seemed on purpose, how the camera angled towards the bag right at the end and then the video was over.
  19. Yes this is true. Except I do not and have not lived in Harrison for 6 years. I would never ever ever live there. I am currently in Indianapolis.

  24. well geez sherman...stop eating burgers every meal. 1. and 2. Try new things. 3. You're going to die in 1 year with that diet. 4. Why do you like burgers so much? There is sooo much more food downtown that is so much better than burgers in which you can get anywhere.
