Bank(s) Street Now that reminds me of the movie Hocus Pocus. ha.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I dont necessarily mind the Banks although the riverfront district or park district is better. But I think we need to vote on renaming Freedom Way. I mean come on, this is the worst entertainment district street name EVER. The name reminds me of somewhere in Tennessee for some reason.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The project is/was $102 for the downtown/otr circulator. Originally, that was to be Phase 1 but then when City Council passed th emeasure, the stipulated an Uptown connector had to be included in Phase 1, thus bumping up 'Phase 1' to $185 million.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: School for the Creative & Performing Arts
This does look good from Central As youre driving by, but unfortunately, the other three sides of the building are rather plain. And the north part of it is disapointing to say the least. Oh well, I guess I'll take it.

Recession 09: Cincinnati
they're down on the city because the fact of the matter is, its a bit too conservative for a lot of people. Its too suburban based, despite the beautiful form the city has. Being in DAAP for the past 2 years, its shocking at times to hear or listen to the negativity that not only the students say, but also the teachers. The kind of bs some teachers say really has an affect on the way students look at a place. Fortunately, those professors who truly know their shit know how great Cincinnati is (Arefi comes to mind)...hes almost always praising Cincinnati's form.

Isn't the county mandated by the feds to switch all of our combined sewers over to separated sewers? So if improvements are made to the site, don't they have to improve the sewers? I admit, I know little about the subject but I thought this mandate was going on.

Columbus: Demolition Watch
atlas replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and Preservationwell I remember them (forget who 'them' is) saying the master plan for the oval is to 'extend' it out into the surroundings. They said they were hoping to 'green' the connections. It looks like they are literally creating connections as well.

Cincinnati: Mount Auburn: Inwood Village
bah. Well this kind of shit sucks. This is such a great area. We must preserve these places.

OSU Student, nice apt. to live in?
I always really liked frambes, especially between waldeck and indianola. The homes sit up on a bluff and they are all high quality single family, with no ugly, tpyical college apartment buildings that litter streets like e. norwich. The homes on indianola across from frambes here are gorgeous and close or along the iuka ravine.

Cincinnati - Does anyone ever use the "Skywalk?"
lets tear them down. all of them. I never use any and would love to see them go. I really hope queen city square doesn't have a skywalk.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Virtually all transit is fixed, thats what makes it great. Your argument that we need transit that adapts to changing demands is, in my opinion, ridiculous. Highways are fixed, subways are fixed, light rail is fixed, etc, etc, etc. Are you telling me we need more transit that isn't fixed, because I think NYC's (and Paris's, and Boston's, and DC's, and and and and...) fixed subway system is working out for them pretty well. Development should follow transit, not the other way around. Unfortunately, it has been the other way around in the US for years now, (allowable by highways which is development following transit, but nonetheless, I digress) and that is a reason why we have unsustainable sprawl. We want and need predictable development in our city (see the recent effort on form based codes.)

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Yea, I found your post irritating as well dean. We all know mass transit is by far and away safer than auto-oriented transit. What you did is post a few pictures saying something else. Its like taking a picture of an airplane crash and saying its less safe than driving. If someone shows pictures of car crashes and says its more dangerous than flying, they have a point and are validated by showing pictures of such an event by facts. In this case, John S. was showing pictures of a phenomena that is backed up by facts and case studies, making his showing the pictures valid. You are showing pictures of circumstance. So you are not valid.

you jerk! But its true though, the gays are the best at urban renaissance. See C'Bus and Short North, Indy and Mass Ave, Cland and Tremont, Chicago and Boystown, NYC and Chelsea, on and on and on and on.

voted for it, and the two cincinnati ones towards the bottom too. :)

the biggest thing for me is affordable apartments. If downtown wants young people, affordable apartments are key, and we're seeing that in the old Enquirer building renovation. Streetcar is a MUST. Surface parking lot development. They are unsightly and can create the feeling of being isolated and unsafe for pedestrians. More gay bars. :)

From a Cincinnati perspective, January 27-28
Actually Detroit and Cleveland were the bottom two, with Cincinnati being the third worst. None of which are good, but just thought I'd set the record straight. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/census/2009-01-29-where-we-live_N.htm And cities like Columbus, Indy, Dayton, Louisville, etc. weren't included. 30 biggest metros only.

the map of who owns what in OTR shows the proposed streetcar route...but it looks wrong to me, unless it has changed. It shows the streetcar going up vine to mcmicken. This can't be right.....unless the route I am familiar with has changed.
