yea, as a masters in planning student in DAAP, I would highly advise you to do urban studies and get it done with and then load up on studios as a masters student. I have taken 3 studios so far and hopefully will take one more before my time is up. They have been by far the best experiences of the program. You have to take 1 as a masters student, but the rest is up to you. Pick Urban Design as your focus in the Masters program at UC....if you're thinking of going there for grad. school as well. The Masters thesis is a bitch though, ha.

Yeah, in your world, there is no crime, Downtown is a wonderful place to hang out, the city's money is spent wisely, the Banks is just an opportunity waiting to happen, millions will ride a streetcar to nowhere, blah, blah, blah........ As Cunningham says, the Banks would have been built 10 years ago, if anyone with any intelligence thought it was viable. Doesnt mean it isn't now, but realistically, it wasn't then! The Banks is a perfect example of the problems with not having a City-County unified government. We have to put aside parochial differences in the County and projects like the Banks would be able to happen quicker. But who is in the way of such progressive actions: conservative suburbanites who want nothing to do with the City. So blame the suburbanites. Its usually their fault anyway.

yea. cincinnati isn't technically 'hilly' but rather 'valley-y'. Its a city of valleys, like jmeck pointed out.

yea i guess it could border mariemont. i am too lazy to look it up. but there is a little place in there called madison place that is between madisonville and mariemont. its columbia township and yes, that township is an absolute mess. ugh.

Wait, does madisonville even border mariemont? Isn't that Madison Place aka Columbia Twshp? There are quite a few nice streets in madisonville.

Anyone know how many jobs the city lost in 2008 as compared to the suburbs? Where could I find that info.?

Norwood has potential but it still has that "Nortucky" image from back in the day. It is my understanding that Oakley at one time was very similar in demographic and image but has since transformed to Hyde Park Lite. Pleasant Ridge is the next neighborhood to go the way of Oakley if you ask me. Madisonville is the next Oakley...atleast thats what I have heard a bajillion times. It certainly is getting a lot of attention via Red Bank, etc. Too bad most of that has been suburban so far. We will see. The Madisonville Arts Center is great. Got a tour today.

Yea, it always blows me away when I go through it. Its so long. It ranks up there as one of the best nbd's in the region, hands down. stiff competition though.

did anyone else notice they tore down the former funeral home on clifton avenue, right behind skyline. All of a sudden, on Tuesday, the property was fenced off. When I was headed to class yesterday morning, walked right by, and it was completely gone. Probably. I went there with my boyfriend once and we were by far the youngest guys there. Got a lot of awkward looks too. Plus, its kind of Cincinnati's African American gay bar.

ive been there 3 or 4 times and its been an interesting crowd every tme. no old bitter queers and the straightest gay bar ive been to in cincinnati. every time i go back hoping for more gays. maybe next time.

Yea, if you venture to below zero, be prepared to be the only straight boy there, even if rando is there. I go there quite often and enjoy it. while technically a gay friendly bar, it is almost (key word) exclusively a gay bar.

great set. yea, indianola really is a nice street in this area and am glad to see that region represented a bit. I look forward to the Iuka set, I always enjoyed going to that park when I lived around there.
