  1. what about the parking garage in those images? Is that existing? If not, it looks to me to be dead to the street. Can't really tell whats going on there though.
  2. replace the existing structure, build it to the corner, and include street level retail. yay! easy as that, ha.
  3. probably from a dealer in Indy or C-Bus. Does Louisville have one? I thought they did.
  4. Come on oneglove...i mean so goes it. Search around the forum and you'll find plenty of info. regarding that. Or are you being sarcastic again?!? Wait, aren't you back in Cincinnati? Bah! i'm back, but up in the burbs for the moment, and feeling too lazy to search for either the info on here or the actual structures... i demand answers now! ok, i'll go find it... ew, fairfield! :-D

  6. wouldn't exactly call Columbus a 'river city' either. See Cincinnati, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, etc.

    not funny.
  8. There was one at the corner of 16th and Meridian close to downtown Indy...but it literally closed a few weeks ago. bah!

i filled out this survey. It took about 15 minutes. Please fill it out, the link is below. We need as many urban voices as possible. We don't want the survey to be skewed towards tohe Masons and West Chesters. http://vovici.com/wsb.dll/s/31f5g36fc1?renderlang=eng

how the hell did i miss this?!? My hometown! Well, Harrison Township, but whatever, crazy. Downtown Harrison applied for that Main Street program money a while back and put some nice investment...and it shows. A lot of sprawl happening out there, potentially hurting downtown Harrison. The city people fought off a Wal-Mart so good for them.
  11. Here in Indy now. Moving here permanently next June/July. bah!
  12. hehe, Campy Washington. LOVE IT.
  13. thank GOD! I was wondering about this. Now I can get more educated about my future state of residence.
  14. OTR's potential ALONE makes it the best 'hood in Cincinnati.
  15. Italian Village. Since this whole "Short North isn't a neigborhood" thing, I had to go with the hood that most encapsulates the Short North, seeing as how that is what separates C-Bus from other Ohio and Midwest cities. German Village is pretty, but Short North has more character, because of its more diverse nature, IMO. Although yes, parts of it is yuppified...I know. *gasp* I am shocked.
  16. OTR. Gotta love the fact its almost entirely mixed use.

downtown is a great place to live and you can find something in your price range down there as well. Also, check out Covington and Newport in Kentucky. Both are 'center city' neighborhoods and are kick ass. On the Ohio side, check out Mt. Adams for close to downtown, Mt. Auburn. Over-the-Rhine isnt for everyone. Its very urban and still rough in parts so it may not be for you. Its for me, but maybe not you. What exactly are your tastes? What do you look for in a neighborhood?
  18. When I wrote that, I knew youd be the first to respond. I agree with you....but my experience has been that people in C-Bus are prouder of their malls more so than people in Cincinnait are...and b/c they tend to be better I suppose. :) But my point is if we're going to have comparisons, lets compare Cincy's NBD's to Columbus's Short North. The two cities are a different structure....in C-Bus everything revolves around High Street. In Cincy, every 'hood has an NBD on smaller scales. An interesting comparison I think....which is more effective, to have one hub of activity or many small hubs?
  19. who cares who has better malls. I would rather be in a city with 'worse' malls. In Columbus, a lot of people pride themselves on Easton. Maybe not people on this board, but this is definitely true. In Cincinnati, we pride ourselves on Hyde Park Square, Oakley Square, Mt. Lookout Square, Northside, Mt. Adams, O'brionville, Main Street, Ludlow...ya know, what Easton tries to replicate. Why desire a better mall when you have killer NBD's all over the city?
  20. June for the summer for co-op. I will be back in Cincy in a month to finish up school.
  21. It looks nice and all, but I for one have one major issue: its too big compared to its surroundings. I work really close to the damn thing and get to stare at it all the time. It actually dwarfs downtown Indy and makes dt Indy look smaller than the stadium itself. It is too big. It would be like going into OTR and building a large and in charge office building or something that diminishes the quality of the surrounding neighborhood. Ya know, the reason for form based zoning. Am I off base here? But I gotta tell ya, these Indy folk sure love this thing and act like its the coming of Jesus.

i would say exurb (Harrison, OH) to city living, but that wasn't a choice, so I went with suburb to city because its not quite middle of nowhere. hell, its 20 miles away from cincinnati. regardless, I will NEVER go back, ha. Doin' Indy core right now.
