How long has it been since you've been in the Northside MayDay? Certainly, by these pictures and by hanging out there a lot, the neighborhood is still gritty in parts and is the state's grittiest gayborhood. But before this year, I hadn't been there in 4 years and was quite amazed at how much the NBD had improved. Still a ways to go though.

harrison, oh to columbus, oh to cincinnati oh. nothing too exciting. David, I know we have had this conversation before and I agree. Although ever since moving down here, Cincinnatians have surprised me. Unfortunately and fortunately, they've surprised me on both ends of the spectrum.

  10. Well he is fairly new to UO and outside of the forum/most gay ppl I know, I never hear anyone use the term. I used the term to two co-workers at an old job and they stared at me having no clue what I was talking about. And these were 2 ppl who lived in Italian Village in C-Bus as well.
  11. WHAT! So how does that work now. is it its own n'hood or does it simply not exist. In the CAGIS dataset, its still called CUF and UC/Burnet Woods is called 'Heights.' But if theres anything I've learned from working at CAGIS, its 'who knows'....
  12. isnt flora in CUF?
  13. Yea the gay community is not as out and proud in Cincy as Columbus atleast; I cant say about Cleveland. But when I moved down here and went to hang in Northside, I expected a similar feeling of being in the Short North, but not on that scale. If I hadn't gone in to the neighborhood with some notion it was a gayborhood, I would have never known it was....it just doesn't have that feel and the populous doesn't scream it. Just impressions really. But yea, Clifton is nice, I live there and am gay :). Theres definitely a gay population in the neighobrhood but its not obvious off the bat. We have a gay bar too! Steven, how old are you? Clifton is nice because it has a mix of ages, etc. but there is definitely a strong presence of college aged and that may/may not turn you off.
  14. I disagree. $600 is high. Where are these people going to get a job that will pay this and still be able to cover simple living costs and go to school. If you don't want to have a life, then its possible. I work 20 hours a week and make $1,100 a month with total living costs around $500 (rent and utilities) and I still have money shortages all the time. I probably make more than most college students and if I worked more hours / payed less, I would have no life / be broke. And if my rent increased to $600...well then that would be it. I would never be able to incur large costs every now and then like books and things related to medical expenses. It would force me to go to the parents.

  17. the market line. i like that better.
  18. I agree with the fact that not everyone is meant for college, and often, the best and brightest entrepreneurs shouldn't go to college. I think college is for the people (like myself) who need the type of structure college brings to life. It makes people feel like they're on the right path, etc. However, some people who truly have innovative ideas and have 'what it takes' jump right into the work force and get it done. Look at the show 'The Apprentice' when they did the street smarts vs. college educated. The street smarts people were WAY better and their total net worth was something like twice as high as the college educated. Now obviously those who go to college, on average, have higher incomes than those who don't. But certainly, the brightest don't need college because they already have what it takes.
  19. sent mine. tried to represent all areas.

  23. it would be nice to see the alumni center, business school and garage all demolished and totally re-do that section of campus. it would be cool to see main street taken all the way down there. if money wasn't an issue....*sigh*
