  1. Sounds like fun.. His waffles are really good.
  2. I actually had my first experience at an ESPN zone 2 weeks ago in D.C., and was really disappointed. The food was horrible, there was food all over the floor, and the service was terrible. Aside from that there were tons of TVs and what looked like could be a great place to watch some sports. I'm assuming it was more of a management issue.
  3. ^ especially with the way gas prices are. we are in a day and age where the center cities will hopefully start to thrive again..
  4. I generally agree with rando, but weren't all the industrial expos held in that same area of Wash park and Music Hall
  5. That is a really awesome idea, but i dont think that OTR is to the point where everyone would feel overly comfortable there yet. It would be cool if they set up smaller Oktoberfest festivals in OTR the weeks leading up to the large festival. Get people accustom to coming into OTR.
  6. Clifton (Ludlow area), Oakley, O'Brienville, Mt. Lookout
  7. Does anyone know the time table for getting private dollars so this project will start? how are they going about it?
  8. ^ They are a hell of a lot better than surface lots!

This seems a good of place as any to post this so... http://www.contestedstreets.com/ I don't know if anyone has heard of this documentary, Contested Streets; Breaking New York City Girdlock, but I got a chance to watch it at work the other week and it is really an inspiring film. It is playing on the Sundance Channel sometime, but i don't know exactly when.
  10. I have been a fan of the idea of recreating these old buildings that we demolished, but as i've gotten older i feel like its a weak attempt at recreating a scene from Main St. America. I love the origional renderings of the Banks with the classic architecture, but this is 2008 not 1908. We should build structures of the time. The more I think about it I would like to see something that hits more along the second set of renderings. I'd like it to mesh with downtown, but not recreate OTR on the riverfront. I think that Queen City Square did this very well its a modern building that pays tribute to Art Deco Architecture. I would love to see something like that. We already have a ton of classic architecture and more and more of it is being saved and renovated weekly. Lets create something origional! Just my opinion.
  11. Yeah I guess until now I kind of just assumed they would be, but I feel like it is something that hasn't been mentioned.
  12. On another note does anyone know if there will be any LEED certified buildings? is this in the project program at all?
  13. When they redesigned the website it then became a restricted site at my work. It is labeled as entertainment!
  14. Why is more greenspace settling? There is so much vacant space in this city as well as surface lots that can be developed into buildings.
  15. I believe that the $11 million dollar investment that was made in like '98 gave us a structure that would only support 4 or 5 stories or some given amount of soil. I went to the 'Greening The Gap' design charrette last year and those were the numbers that they gave us.
  16. If i read this correctly the city could possibly use the $50.5 million of the value of the tunnels for our investment and have the feds match that. that gives us $101 million so we are looking at what about $30 million to have an opperable subway system? Obviously i know its not as easy as that. We would have to come up with design and cost proposals get it on the transit agenda and get it approved by the feds, but doesnt that seem like something we should pursue?
  17. I think they said it would cost $115 or $119 million to get them up and operable (that doesn't include the trains). As gas prices continue to rise this number sounds smaller and smaller
  18. anyone checkout Oceanaire tonight?
  19. Deal on park expansion BY LISA BERNARD-KUHN | [email protected] OVER-THE-RHINE – An ongoing dispute between Cincinnati Public Schools and Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC) has been settled, putting back in motion a $25 million plan that officials say is crucial to this neighborhood’s revitalization. CPS announced today that it had agreed to transfer the title for the former Washington Park School site to the Cincinnati Parks Board.

^ Although i would love that i don't think that the average attendance of like 9,000 supports the argument.
  21. I think he is aiming at within 10 years he should have the resources in place to move to OTR

    Sirvaties Deli?
  23. Here is a little something interesting i saw last week at an interview in Alexandria. I was interviewing with Michael Baker Corp. and they were working on creating a comprehensive streetscape/ plaza style for the DC areas. It was a standards code book that was like 500 pages long showing acceptable materials. They had two styles one was historically sensitive and one was contemporary. They had design details that were being implemented for city green design such as pervious pavement buffers between the street and pedestrian sidewalk space (where the street trees and street lamps are). This is something Cincy is really lacking. Everywhere is so hodgepodge. The authorities need to get on creating a comprehensive planning manual. I feel that this is something that could really help the appeal of the city. There were very progressive ideas in this book, and it will be posted on the internet when it is finished. I cant wait to get my hands on it.
