  1. I'm Finishing up the project and here are a few of my presentation boards. They haven't been spell checked yet and most of the text needs to be edited still. I'm running on little sleep so please forgive any errors. (YES I KNOW THE NORTH ARROW IS NOT CORRECT) This is the master plan for the entire site. There was not a lot done along Central Parkway until Broadway Commons, but the medians were widened and the turn lanes were removed. Statues of Ohio Presidents were put in the center of each median park. The Roundabout was dubbed Cincinnatus Circle with a centerpeice statue paying hommage to Cincinnatus. The Design of the circle was to act as a gateway into broadway Commons. At the Eastern end of the site the glass atrium acts as an arcade for Broadway Commons. I essentially worked on this project by myself the kid i worked with already has a job lined up and desided he didnt want to do a whole lot of work. So don't judge it too hard. The site was kept at lower density so that it wouldn't hinder OTR too much, but still fostered an urban flavor. No structures were mor than 6 stories tall, and it was primarily targeted at entertainment and retail, for the upper class (Hyde Park, Mt. Adams), but did have all functions office space, residential (apartment, condos and town homes), retail apparel and restaurant. Looking west in the park along the Canal waterfeature towards the glass atrium

^ Isn't Washington Plattform the oldest or one of the oldest? I know the Pheonix Cafe was one of them too, but that's recently been shutdown.

If you have tons of money to spend on them Brooks Bros is the way to go. THe cost a lot but they last forever and never go out of style. But like rando said this is also expensive by my standards
  4. here's something interesting... Kroger Co. commissioned the mural in 1983 to commemorate their 100th anniversary. 2008 is their 125th wouldn't it be great to see them drop some coin on a project like this? just a thought.
  5. Yeah i feel that this surface lot is a huge waste of potential. (All surface lots are, but this one more than others) This would really be a doable project, given a little support from kroger and the city
  6. This or this? You decide..... Im going to get this rendered soon so ill update it once i get that done... This is such a great mural its really a shame they fronted it with a surface lot Does anyone know the name of the building that the mural is on? Is it owned by kroger?
  7. ^ When you get into significantly larger trees your cost increases greatly. the difference between a 3 inch caliber tree (diameter around the trunk at breast height) and a 5 inch caliber tree is astronomical in price. Depending on the tree it can be double the cost.
  8. Here is something laughable for your Sunday morning. The Beacon is such a waste of time. I found this link on cinplify.com and thought i would share this. Sorry if any of you feel dumber for having read it. I know i do. The Cincinnati Beacon Those against streetcars, rumbling in the distance Saturday, April 05, 2008 Posted by The Dean of Cincinnati There are some rumblings around town—a great many people, in fact, from all across the political spectrum, who are not sure if increased government spending should be dedicated to a very short streetcar loop so people in river-front condos can socialize without having a car. Is this really the most pressing issue facing the City? Is this really what it means to serve the citizens of Cincinnati? Do residents of College Hill care if The Banks hooks up with OTR? A vocal minority, backed by business interests and politicians, have insisted that Cincinnati needs a streetcar. And if anyone dares to pause, to question, or to critique the concepts—these victims are attacked viciously by the streetcar advocates, who would love nothing more than to watch their property value increase on the backs of the rest of the City. But I have seen the writing on the wall. I have seen the writing. Yes, brother and sisters, I see a day coming. A day when Westside whites and Avondale blacks join arms in solidarity against the fast track to a streetcar train wreck. I see an unlikely coalition derailing business efforts to spend taxpayer money on a big dollar item that will only benefit the few. I see a new day coming in Cincinnati. I see a new Cincinnati emerging. A Cincinnati where citizens have learned how to organize, how to ignore differences to focus on similarities. A Cincinnati where the big money influence of special interests no longer rolls all over the spirit of the regular folks. You know who I mean—not the ones with expensive downtown condos, nor the ones with big pockets for the politicians, nor the people who are friends with the well-connected. Just regular people—some richer, some poorer—but all sharing that desire to see a City shaped by their interests, the interests of the people. The politicians continue not to put people first. I think the time is coming when the people have decided to cut in line. And I think the streetcar line is the next one on the list.
  9. right, but I don't see myself being able to take too many dates here if the tab is going to be aprox $100. I dont really care that its that expensive, but you can't really target YP's at those prices
  10. Just one question what YP can afford $40 per plate?
  11. Bootsy's by Jeff Ruby Here is really the only image i could find. I think that the post had a larger one when it originally was announced, but unfortunately it cant be found anymore.
  12. ^ Thats great news. I've been waiting a long time for this and hoping it didn't turn into another pipe-dream. I can't wait for fall!
  13. The orange line will take you from midway to downtown for 2 dollars
  14. yeah i was in grade school when the proposals came out and i thought it would be great when i was in college, and im graduating this year so that wont happen either. better late than never
  15. 'Outside' to open in OTR BY STEPFANIE ROMINE | [email protected] Outside, an outdoor décor store, opens Saturday at 16 E. 12th St. in Over-the-Rhine’s Gateway Quarter. Terry Lee, who spent 18 years in corporate retail jobs, said he hopes the store will “really be a regional destination because of the unusual product mix."
  16. Rookwood moving to OTR BY LISA BERNARD-KUHN | [email protected] OVER-THE-RHINE – Grand plans are in store for an 80,000 square foot building near Findley Market that is expected to be the new headquarters for The Rookwood Pottery Co. Martin Wade, owner of the recently reopened Grammer’s restaurant in Over-the-Rhine and financial partner of Cincinnati restaurateur and chef Jean-Robert de Cavel, finalized a more roughly $500,000 deal Monday to purchase the 106-year-old building at 1920 Race St.

I know this is a long shot, but I'll give it a shot anyways. I'm graduating in Landscape ARchitecture and looking for a job in Ohio, but really can't find anything. If anyone knows of any firms looking for an entry-level landscape architect or planner I would greatly appreciate the help.
  18. Dewey's Pizza opens at Crestview Hills BY CINDY SCHROEDER | [email protected] CRESTVIEW HILLS – Dewey’s Pizza is opening today in the former Nothing But Noodles space in the Crestview Hills Town Center. No link available for full article.
  19. I will for sure be hitting that up late night when i get home
  20. I wonder if CHCURC gave border's or barnes and nobel an incredibly cheap lease if they would move in? Has any attempt at this been made? Is there any side access to the building for a possible outdoor reading area?
  21. That is really awesome. It would be great to see something like that materialize.
  22. ^ yeah i was under the same impression. It only makes sense to have a Chipotle Downtown. I know every other one is booming at lunch time, and you would think with a lunchtime market like downtown they could support 1 or even more like 3.
