  1. Thanks for the help figuring that out rando.
  2. These are some pictures that I took downtown a few weeks ago. Central Parkway has all the makings of being a great area of town, and Broadway Commons is a blank slate with endless limitations. I think this would make a great pocket park with that mural in the background. It's really depressing to see a surface lot making this beautiful mural really loose some of its luster. It would be nice if Kroger would pitch in the money and get something nice like that. This could be converted into some pretty sweet lofts
  3. ^ Yeah that really pisses me off. I went there once and will never again. We are in CINCINNATI home of the BENGAL's not the pittsburgh cheaters. Someone needs to send a message, that stuff might fly in another city but not in CINCY. On a brighter note I'm glad to see more stuff opening on Main St. I love that area and think it has great potential. Good to see other people love it too.
  4. I think he means that the first line by itself isn't the answer, whereas most people seem to think it is the only thing being planned. Yeah that was my point that all the people who think that this is a huge waste of money and this line will simply become unused public investment, don't understand that this is simply the beginning. I do agree that this is the most important phase of the streetcar because it will change the image of downtown and OTR drastically not only within the metro area, but all over this will make people view us as a much more progressive city. As a soon to be YP these are the kind of things I look for when choosing a city, and in talking to my friends and telling them about the things happening in the city like this, you can really see their thoughts change on investing in areas like OTR. This transit line can't happen soon enough (except I'd like to invest before it does) for the revitalization of OTR and the CBD.
  5. I think that a big thing that people don't realize is that this first line isn't the answer, but there are secondary and tertiary phases to this plan (hopefully). They think that it is merely going to link a "drug infested OTR with a dead downtown". These people obviously by their statements are not visionaries. They see Cincy for what it is at its worst not what it could be at its best. This city has become overwhelmed with pessimism, but is on the brink of changing a lot of outlooks for a lot of people. Between The Banks, the OTR revitalization, the street car, QSII, and many other projects on the docket and more on the way, this city is going to be a dynamic city, and those who believe now and invest now will reap all the benefits. So for all the people who badmouth our fair city, i have a few choice words for them, and most of them consist only of four letters.
  6. There is so much going on in Cincy right now. This is awesome news. By 2011 nobody is going to recognize this place (in a good sense) I can't wait until all the naysayers are all shut up. In 2011 this place will be back on top again and the world class city that it once was. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I can't wait to see what's in store for Broadway Commons and the West Side.
  7. I think that a large variety of bars and restaurants is what makes an entertainment district. Not to hate on 6th/7th street movement, but they are essentially all the same bar with slightly different decor. Main St. could really be something special, but it needs to have more than just appeal to a select group of people. This type of entertainment district is what would attract YP's to downtown, otherwise they will keep trying to afford living in Hyde Park and moving out of the region.
  8. I drove down Main St. saturday night at around 12 o'clock and Cue seemed to be hoppin. I plan to check it out soon maybe friday or sat of this week. I just got back in town this weekend from school and was looking for something fun for my gf and me to do and i was thinking wouldnt it be great if there was a comedy club on Main St. It just has all the making of a diverse entertainment scene and i would love to see that type of venue there.
  9. wouldn't it be nice if this would happen at tower place, downtown?
  10. wow there are some amazing girls there... i'll have to check that out. What are the prices like?
  11. ^Not only that, but you can listen to WLW700 on XM radio. What a shame that all they will do is trash talk the city when we could use it promote the city to a national audience. The most upsetting thing is that 700 WLW was founded by a man who loved his city and believed in it, much like many other corporations of the time who have since turned their back on the city that made them great
  12. I just tried to make a reservation for Saturday night at Nada and the earliest they could fit me in was 10! Its only 230 on tuesday thats amazing
  13. Just out of curiosity how much does a shell typically go for in this area and how much does it take to make it livable? I graduate this May and would like to be able to by something sometime in the next year.
  14. I know a lot of people might disagree with having drunks on the streetcar at night and people puking, but wouldn't be nice to be able to hop on it after the bars close downtown and take it home to OTR. When i was in Milan they just ran one train and it didn't run much but if the scheduled it right it would work perfectly to run 1 or 2 trains one a 2:30 and one at 3 am. I think this is something that YPs would really like.
  15. ^ From my understanding the Banks will be an entertainment district. (Not solely but will have large amount of eateries and bars) People tend to gravitate towards things that are new (The Banks) - Cadillac Ranch is a perfect example of that. Don't you think that the banks will hurt the chances of the CBD solidifying an entertainment district, where as OTR is far enough away where they can survive in co-existence?
  16. the one i went to in charlotte was right downtown
  17. ^ Anything in particular? Because when i was there they had a lot of hot girls, lively crowd, and a band starting to warm up downstairs. Much better than the one we have in mason
  18. I really liked Fox and Hound in Charlotte. Now before i get crucified i don't like chain restaurants, but they really had something nice there -- darts, pool tables by the hour, numerous large flat screens, good pub food, upscale clean atmosphere, a basement where they had live bands, and additional seating up stairs for more of a restaurant area during the day and then bar at night .
  19. ^^ HAHAAH It is unfortunate that not everything that hits the drafting board comes full circle. Fortunately for us there are a lot of things that are coming to the build stage and hopefully this trend will continue and at a faster pace.
  20. I emailed jeff ruby's about Bootsy Ruby's last night and asked if any progress has been made and their reply was -- Not at this time - they are trying to work out some kinks with the City. Pretty much what i expected to hear. I hope they can get it worked out because that is a cool building and the renderings they had looked pretty spectacular as well
  21. This building just says Georgetown to me. Walking down Q street this looks like all the buildings that have been converted into upscale retail. At some point i would love to see Cincy create this type of retail district. Obviously we dont have the buying power of Georgetown and couldn't support all the upscale retail that is there, but i think that in the near future it is something that needs to happen to create a dynamic urban environment and to do that we need this type of retail district.
  22. I think that MT. Adams appeals to people because it has a party like atmosphere, and a concentrated mix of bars. People like the idea of all the bars being concentrated because like UncleRando said it creates the opportunity for bar hopping. I also really like the idea of closing off traffic for pedestrian circulation on Main St. Although i am a huge fan of what is happening DT i think that OTR (Main St.) has what people are really looking for. It's unique in itself within the city and throughout the country. People will come to see this, but it needs more of a mix of environments. (some pubs, american bars, jazz clubs, dance clubs, and wouldn't an ale house be great?) It is also attractive to bar owners because most of the buildings are easy to convert into bars because at one point may were bars and the rent or purchase price is much cheaper than in downtown. Really the only problem is the overall perception of OTR and Main St. in general. Hopefully this will be changing with the addition of the streetcar.
  23. Wow thats awesome that these restaurants are doing so well... Hopefully that will bring more for the future... I would love to see some more moderately priced places with a pub type atmosphere or even what Uno's offered. Speaking of new restaurants does anyone know anything about Bootsy Ruby's? I haven't heard anything since the original write up
  24. I completely agree.... It is great seeing the urban core rejuvenating with residents, but it is necessary to provide some more retail and entertainment venues for the residents that have invested in the area
  25. I just want an entertainment district where people from all over say if your in Cincy you need to check out Main St. - Something that will put entertainment here on the map. A diverse atmosphere that offers something to everyone.....
