  1. Was any body else under the impression that Tarbell was going to try to get the streetcar project really started before his term ran out. Maybe I'm just fabricating that in my head.
  2. I would assume that they don't. I go to West Virginia University and we have a rapid transit system and they keep the tracks heated to avoid issues like that.
  3. http://davesrailpix.com/csr/csr.htm This is a well done website of the history of Cincy's street cars. Check out the link on the top "Another good site on the Cincinnati system is here" this guy has really done his homework
  4. Personally I feel that the biggest sign of progress would be the removal of surface lots. They are such an eye soar downtown. Hopefully the streetcar will really impact the need for parking downtown
  5. I think this obviously the most important project for the west side in a long time. It is very exciting to see the idea of redoing Lincoln Park (the stone bridge is awesome). I have some concerns though. Where would the street car link to in the site, and where would it run too? -Potential Broadway Commons Development link? Is it possible to get the state or feds to pay for a good portion of this because the historical significance, the socio economic importance, and intercity redevelopment opportunity? Is I-75 too much of a barrier between this and downtown? Would it be possible, in conjunction with redoing 75, to burry it from there to the Brent Spence Bridge, to reconnect the west side? Could it potentially be given to a developer with some tax incentives to catalyze the development? Is the $110 million just for structural damage to the building or what does that include? What would the time table for a development like this be? Hopefully not like the banks! I think this is possibly the most exciting proposal on the table and hopefully some people with deep pockets feel the same.
  6. "City Council may be asked to approve a modification to the Banks' subdivision plat at its August 1 meeting*." -is this meeting still happening? I haven't heard anything in a while.
  7. GO REDS 2008!
  8. My buddy has an interesting theory. 1990 the Scripps tower was built directly behind River Front. In 1990 the Reds also won their last World Series. Queen City Square is going to be built directly behind Great American hopefully in 2008. Any body else like that theory?
  9. New eatery replaces Simone's BY JOHN ECKBERG | [email protected] A revamped interior, approach and menu comes to the East Walnut Hills space once occupied by Simone’s on Sept. 5 when executive chef and founder Travis Maier opens Seny to bring Spanish tapas to a Cincinnati neighborhood. See link above for article.
  10. As funny as that is it's almost sad how little some one can care about their community. Evan crazier story. I was walking down to the reds game with some of my buddies when we got back in town from school, and they asked why they don't put bars and other things in between the stadiums. Talk about living under a rock. The enquirer just does a terrible job on development coverage in downtown it is rediculous. i wouldn't be supprized if they moved their building to West Chester. Might as well they like it enough. sorry for my rant i know hardly any of this was pertainent to the street car
  11. Hopefully instead of these things being read about, i hope they start to happen
  12. Why hasn't this been in the news? It seems like fairly substaintial news to omit. If this was published the 14th where is the "announcement in the next few days"?
  13. Its on I believe 12th and Sycamore. Its a pretty awsome building i passed last friday and they were working on it. It's a shame they are going to restucco it
  14. Not really relevant to the topic, but when they talk about Cincinnati having 378,000 people what are the boundaries for that?
  15. Why invest money in oakley?? why not OTR, Mount Auburn, City West or some where that needs it more? Oakley will develope itself with out charity.
  16. http://www.pulsedt.com/blogs/default.asp?Display=592 This guy needs a reality check!
  17. McMicken: I've got most of OTR, downtown, and Mt Adams CAGIS files in dwg format. Shoot me an email if you want them. Yeah, mcmicken if you could do that it would be great [email protected]

Is the meeting tonight just about the Oasis line or is it about the streetcar as well?
  19. As much as i dislike Nancy; she might be on to something. I dont think that it should be a route that directly connects UC to the downtown route. There should be a line that runs around campus and a separate line that runs connecting the clifton and OTR.
  20. Does anyone know what the deal is with the Crew's clock? It has been gone forever. I was under the impression that it was just getting cleaned.
  21. After reading the latest news on mass transit it really makes me scratch my head why Cincy can’t be more progressive. I’m a huge fan of the slight improvements that they have made in the downtown area, but there is still a long road ahead. Why not instead of making the entire city Wi-Fi ready; make the city connected my mass transit? Re-open the terminal as it was intended to be used; for trains. Link Cincy - Dayton –Columus- Cleveland. They made the Miami-Erie canal without machines in 7 years. Why can’t we build a rail line that does the same thing? I’m done ranting because it never does any good…. Just a little food for thought.
  22. Does anyone know where i could get the CAD maps of Downtown. I am going into my senior year of landscape architecture, and need a Capstone project. The whole thought of reinventing central parkway/ broadway commons really intrest me.
