Right. Because the Newport one is generally staffed and stocked better, not to mention has a much larger selection. The parking lot's a nightmare, but it's a far better Kroger than the one in Downtown Cincinnati. Crossing the Ohio, even if someone did it "four times" from Covington to Newport and back, is pretty easy to do. It's not like going from Jersey to Manhattan.

What was this restaurant at 1355 (even though Google says 1335) Hopple in Camp Washington? @ryanlammiand I grabbed food from Camp Washington Steak and Lemonade today. It was good, but we couldn’t tell what the place had been in its past life. Street View shows it as “Yummy Chinese” in 2007, but it had to have been something before that. Our best guesses were: Hardee’s, KFC, Arthur Treachers Fish and Chips, or Long John Silver’s. But then @ryanlammifound the attached 1993 photo on the County Auditor’s website (and a 2003 record showing the place as a catering company). Other photo is what the floor looks like inside (Burger King Vibes).

I agree with you that objectively, this new Nashville rendering looks like an awesome venue, but I’m still beside myself that so many of the late 90’s/early 2000’s football-only venues are already being discussed as potentially being replaced. I mean, I get it—billionaires gonna billionaire and everyone wants what Atlanta and LA have, but Nashville, Cleveland, and even Cincy are all considering changes/replacements and those stadiums are… theirs. It’s not like the old days of “we’re tired of sharing with another team” or “we don’t get enough suite revenue,” these teams already have sweetheart deals.

Now here's your next CVG photo challenge, @savadams13: get either the Delta or BA wide bodies next to a CRJ. Actually, come to think of it and all jokes aside: is anyone still flying CRJ's out of CVG? I feel like my last few, quick flights on Delta have all been various Airbus or 737s.

This is literally your own added hyperbole, the same tactic you're arguing against, not my words (or the words of anyone else here). Again, an issue doesn't need to be "as bad" as it was before to still be an issue.

Also laughable to accuse people about “listening to talking heads,” when you’re in here parroting Tucker Carlson talking points denying the existence of white supremacy. No surprise that’s coming from someone advocating a “Yes” on Issue 1 stance to disenfranchise voters.

You can try and spin it however you want, and you’re really going overboard on your usual mental gymanastics in this thread, but attempting to limit the power of Ohio’s citizens and their rights at the ballot box isn’t some validation of a “constitutional republic.” Would love to see the civics lessons that taught you: “try to change the rules so your party doesn’t lose.” I wonder if those folks would eventually just come back anyways. Maybe even with different names, but sticking to their same, tired schtick.

Exactly. People here can carry water for the Chamber all day just as they carry water for private interests, but with the history this city has for passing on big opportunities in the name of quicker/cheaper/threadbare options (or not following through at all), this is something that needs to be seen through properly. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to benefit not just Downtown, but the entire city and prepare for the future—the focus should be on how the citizenry and its descendants can benefit, not Downtown land holders still sitting on surface lots.

While a tunnel makes good sense, what’s the likelihood of it happening given the (assumed) substantial cost added compared to merely extending the existing system up the hill on the street? I feel like the cost + time involved is going to immediately put things in option 2’s favor.

That's great news. Is that Indianapolis - Dyer improvement part of this most recent grant application? Also, any ideas on when the decision on these grants might be made/and if the Cardinal gets said grant when daily service improvements could be implemented? Not a BizCourier subscriber and unfortunately all other online pieces don't seem to have that information.

Yeah, leaving at 1:30 pm and arriving by 10:00 p.m. wouldn't be bad. Even better if that could speed up a bit too.

Maybe I’m missing it here in all the stories over the last year or so, but if The Cardinal goes daily - are we talking better departure/arrival times out of and into Cincinnati, or, would we just be getting daily late night service? An improvement either way, but just hoping for some real times.

Totally understand that and truly appreciate the effort, but my point was more so that this thing is seven years in and still having issues similar to year one. Even with major improvements overall, it’s still frustrating to see the city continue to rely on things like “stopgap pilot projects” after all this time. Thankfully, it seems like a more permanent solution is on the way.

One other note. The digital, former “estimated arrival time” screens now just continuously rotate with “streetcar arrives every 12-15 minutes.” Would be great if they announced that the line was closed/open. Living near a station, the operators seem inconsistent with the “hours of operation.” So many times I’ve seen people waiting at a station only to have an operator pass by as “closing” time nears, or, stop at the station and announce over the loud speaker that “the connector is closed.”
