2012 Olympic Games in London
I'm not watching the Olympics. I'm boycotting because they could've been/should've been in Cincinnati: http://queencitydiscovery.blogspot.com/2012/07/when-city-dared-to-dream-how-2012.html Seriously though, Cincy was a long shot and I'm not really boycotting. Haven't gotten to watch much with moving over the weekend. What's the deal with Phelps? Did he break the record for most Gold Medals?

COAST
^Unfortunately no IP adresses like a forum, just the usual names he uses on his blog. I bet he's already read this. Remember how he used to show up from time to time on here just to drop insults?

COAST
^That coud be the case, but I've been dealing with Miller all week and his comments conveniently appear right after he posts something on Twitter. This morning's happened right around the time that a fresh COAST blog post went up.

COAST
I don't think the other members of COAST pay attention to Mark Miller's online activities. The guy really is pathetic, lonely and sad. The other day he made a blog post about some political activist being jailed for a tweet halfway round the world, said it could've been him (written in the third person) and then went on Twitter thanking "COAST," which is actually him, for writing it. I was working on my website till 4:30 AM last night and by the time I woke up at 7:30 I had multiple comments of his to delete. His latest thing is making fun of homosexuals.

The Dark Knight Rises Discussion ***SPOILERS***
Yeah, the Real World is, but I think that's what made The Dark Knight series so relatable to some people, it felt like something that could really happen. The Avengers is good too, just different, I really liked that film despite hating Thor and Iron Man 2. As for the Justice League, I don't think you'd ever be able to make that as good as The Avengers - the character mix in that film was just too good. Look at the other Justice League super heroes, they're terrible.

Mansfield trip - suggestions?
It's on 20 S. Park St. on the square.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
^I like the idea of a Movie Theatre especially if it's showing something different than what the typical theatres have. Newport's AMC is actually very nice and the most convenient place for me to see a flick, but if we had somewhat more of an art house theatre maybe Cincinnati could be one of those "select cities" that gets films I always want to see but are never here.

The Dark Knight Rises Discussion ***SPOILERS***
^I don't know, in a way I like how it ended. I think it went well with his character. While his death would've been a nice way to end the trilogy the fact that he had moved on and found someone else besides Rachel showed some development of the character. Him nodding at Alfred was kind of like him rebuking Alfred's claim that he came back as Batman just so he could fail or be killed and then not have to worry about anything - Wayne realized there was something on the outside world for him. At the same time it leaves open the idea that if Gotham ever did need him again he could return. Imagine a fourth movie down the road where an older Bruce Wayne stands in a decaying Gotham at the statue they erected for him? If Nolan and Bale are done then bravo, way to make an excellent series and not overdo it ala Indiana Jones/Star Wars. However, if they do make a Justice League movie I would hope it would be more gritty/dark like TDK series was. The Avengers was great, but it's very campy and light hearted with a lot of humor - a stark contrast to Nolan's Batman. IMHO the Justice League characters don't quite stack up to the Avengers. Batman and Superman are ok, but what is Aquaman gonna do?

^I doubt you'd see the Children's Museum move from Union Terminal. Although a nice tourist attraction right in the heart of downtown like that could be cool. Contract some artist to put some cool murals up on the windowless section.

The Dark Knight Rises Discussion ***SPOILERS***
I took that scene as confirming that he was alive. If you remember, when Fox first shows him "the bat," he notes that there's not auto-pilot and at the end the two engineers looking at it with Fox say that an Auto-Pilot was installed and the "ID Code" on the install patch belonged to Bruce Wayne. Not long after you see him and Selina in France. Not to mention, there was never really a question of whether or not Selina Kyle died so I figured seeing him with her and the atuo-pilot thing that he was still alive. I'm not certain about how all the comic book story lines work, but as opposed to being "Robin" the sidekick like in the other series, I believe he becomes "Nightwing," another DC Comics character. They could be setting that up? There's talks of a Justice League film coming out and also talks of a 4th Batman film that would "reboot" the franchise. Anyone heard anything about this? Would Nolan's "Dark Knight" be the Justice League batman or would they create a new one?

Mansfield trip - suggestions?
Passed through there recently while on a trip to see the reformatory, we grabbed lunch at the "Coney Island Inn" in downtown Mansfield. Good Philly Cheesesteak, def. a "greasy spoon" esque place.

Penn State Scandal
Just read the details of the punishment and it seems harsh. I haven't seem someone at Penn State get screwed this hard since Sandusky was on campus.

Cincinnati: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
Gordon Bombay replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentSo none of the bands booked were bands she liked and there wasn't a lot of black people there.... from what she saw, cause she admits she wasn't there. And that's white people's fault?

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The other day on Twitter while County Auditor Dusty Rhodes (the idiot, not the iconic wrestler) was making fun of John Schneider for praising downtown - I asked him if he went to the same crazy retirement home as Tom Luken. He proceeded to personally message me and say "No. Do you?" Then blocked me. BURRRRNNNNN.

^I wish they'd do something like the Riverfront Park video updates. I know they've done videos in the past, but those SRP videos were very well done. I'd be willing to throw something together even.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Washington Park
Got a call from a friend the other night, told me he was proposing to his girlfriend in Washington Park. He had the hookup and was able to set it up so that tonight before it opens to the public tomorrow he could do his proposal in the park. We got to meet the guy who designed the fountain and I photographed the event. The fountains are spectacular and the park is absolutely gorgeous. The full story: http://bit.ly/OTRLoveStory

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
^Mike Brown and the Bengals organization looked into purchasing a franchise back in 99 or 2000 when PBS was brand new. Columbus opposed the idea heavily.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
This is the one place I don't really understand at The Banks. In terms of "Family Friendly," Johnny Rockets seems perfect. The store looks great, the decor is nice and the music is cool, but I've only been there once. I've only been once because every other time I've tried the place is closed or closing as we walk up. Hell, even the one time we got in we strolled in at 8 o clock and were told "we close in an hour," the service was awful and for me to actually complain about service it has to be really bad by most people's standards. Now that summer is in full swing, can anyone attest to Rockets being opened regularly/later in the night or at least having their window open?

There was also already one in suburban Cincinnati. Edit: Apparently it was a "cheeseburger in paradise," not a "margaritaville."

June 30: Ohio State Reformatory Tour for Photographers, Hosted by Abandoned
The last time I went to an event organized by Sherman the guy doing the tour tried to jack up the price when we arrived. He eventually settled on what he originally promised and we all took photos in front of a wall that had "thug life" graffitied on it.

Sherman, thanks for arranging this! I'm definitely going to check this out. Mind if I share it on QC/D?

Oh I know it's a Cincy blog and that the pic was from elsewhere. What I meant was that I can't wait for our construction to progress to the rail laying point.
