Toledo: Downtown arena
The new stadium/arena certainly look great and the Walleye are a damn good team this year, however I'd have to say Indianapolis' Victory Field is the crown jewel of minor league ball parks.

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
Gordon Bombay replied to CincyImages's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI couldn't agree more. There are certain places that fill a niche like Chuck E Cheese that caters to young children or Dave & Busters which has more of an adult atmosphere. With the proliferation of items like the Xbox 360 and PLaystation 3 and online multi-player gaming, I think the arcades are fading fast. Look at Krazy City that was in the tri-county mall, it's already gone. I have a few friends that opened up an arcade in Fairfield with lots of vintage and newer games they restore and repair and aside from the Pinball fanboys that occasionally come in, they make most of their business on tournaments geared around xbox 360 and playstation games that they hold there.

Cincinnati: Demo of old warehouse building behind new P&G child care facility
^A Warehouse that was being used only as a parking garage and aside from the crappy coke advertisements on the side looked like crap.

Dredging the Archives - Christmas-shopping trip to Chicago in 1972
Rob, these are absolutely awesome. Is there no longer Amtrak service to Ft. Wayne? What's the story with that? Again, beautiful photographs, this one really made me stop scrolling and have another look: http://robertpence.com/il_chicago/19721102-0033.jpg Two great cities, great film and great compositions.

10 student photos from around the world - Which one is the best?
I voted for number 3 and honestly feel it's the best. Personally I don't see how #8 is winning. It's a photo of a tree on an overcast day. Neat.

Miscellaneous Ohio Political News
This really is a shame. The political tea party patriot morons are really ruining things for those of us that legitimately enjoy getting together for parties where we sample and enjoy fine varieties of tea.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
I wish they'd just build a new 20,000 seat modern arena and force that dump down on the riverbank to close.

Cincy: Any idea where these places are?
I'm working on a new project with fellow forum member Umbriago involving some pictures he took of Cincinnati in 1987. I'm having trouble determining some locations, thought maybe you guys would have some good ideas of where they're at: - I can't tell if this is Ft. Washington Way or where fourth street now currently dumps onto I-75 North near central Ave. - I realize this business may no longer be open, but does anyone know what building it was in? THanks for the help everyone!

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Massacre
Love it. A unique take on what I find to be a typically boring/cheesy tradition. I'm gonna have to start checking your blog regularly.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
And how many monorails do you see being built or planned these days as opposed to cities who want modern streetcars? I've been waiting on Jungle Jims to open their damn monorail since 1999!

Carew Tower Cincinnati at sunset.
Haha, thanks man. Yeah, only till six during the week and seven on saturdays. During the summer of course it's typically still light out, but in the fall/winter you can see some great sunsets up there, just a bit cold with the open air. I love the Carew, but I think First National/Metropolitian in Youngstown can claim that tag. I wasn't able to find a picture of that building, do you have a link? Ah ok, thanks Chris. I think we may have forgot to call him to tell him when we were grilling out later that night, so Aaron if you're reading this.... Sorry! You didn't miss much though.

Toledo's Lucas County Arena.
Oh, come on now. :) It certainly wasn't as nice as this one or a modern one, but you can't beat old hockey barns like the Toledo Sports Arena: http://www.ohiourbex.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=2147 Yeah, I see what you're saying. I kind of hope that they do.

Recession 09: The Chicago Bengals
Excellent shots Chris, http://www.urbanohio.com/UOThreads/2009/ChiBengals/09Bengals4.jpg Wonder where everyone will tailgate once they build over that mess?

Carew Tower Cincinnati at sunset.
Best Art Deco tower in the state with a pretty sweet observation deck: -QCS is gaining on the Carew As always, more Cincinnati photos and random stuff can be found at www.queencitydisco.com Ran into another UO member up there named Aaron when I was with Seicer, didn't catch his UO username though!

Toledo's Lucas County Arena.
The outside almost reminds of like a mini-nationwide arena. This is the perfect size for an ECHL hockey team, not to mention the new modern amenities make it look really, really great. The only thing I don't like is that the scoreboard (is it a big tv or a projection screen?) is at the end of the arena, I think a center scoreboard suspended from the ceiling would've been better.

Beautiful Toledo
And it has a pretty damn cool hockey arena. Toledo > Dayton

CLEVELAND - pics from November 2009
Great photos, but I had to turn the youtube song off 18 seconds into it :p Are the buses in this photo part of that new rapid transit bus line? http://www.clevelandskyscrapers.com/cle1109/cle1109_23.jpg Didn't they want to put rail in and decided to go with buses instead? I think TANK in NKY operates a similar model bus on their express lines. Again, gorgeous photos, weather has been great.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Personally I think a stop in Hamilton would be better than a stop in Middletown.

Zombies Attack Cincinnati - A new Halloween Tradition is born
Special thanks to Quimbob for tipping me off about this. "Zombie Walks" have been a tradition and stunt in cities across the USA for a few years now, just recently, Cincinnati held it's first. What exactly is a zombie walk and what would Cincinnati look like if it was the set of "Dawn of the Dead?" The answers to these questions and quotes like this: Can be found in the latest update at Queen City Discovery: http://queencitydiscovery.blogspot.com/2009/11/zombies-attack-cincinnati.html Here are some photos from the night: A new, somewhat disturbing, Halloween tradition has been born in the Queen City. Check out the full update here: http://queencitydiscovery.blogspot.com/2009/11/zombies-attack-cincinnati.html Thanks for looking!
