Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
That's exactly what I was going to say. It's a lose-lose proposition for the streetcar. Even if we rally people to ride a stupid trolley bus, it will give Anti-Streetcar Supporters (or "ASSes" - yes, I just copyrighted that) ammunition against the project.

I just saw that on Building Cincinnati. Any renderings yet? Thanks!

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Herein lies the problem. If we can get the streetcar project approved, then I think it will send the all-important message to YPs and DINKs and other desireables that this is a great place to live and good things are coming! A painted line study? Are you serious??? 1) Painted line. Yes. A developer will see that experimental painted line and think, wow, this is a city that can get things done. I want to invest MY millions here. 2) No one will ride a f-ing trolley bus. That's the point.

Anyone know what's going on across the street on the former middle school site?

The Nati Life replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI agree. I heard that too about Jean-Ro. Anyone know anything about the progress on the lofts? It seems as though they've been at it for awhile. I saw it on the downtown tour of living, and it's tough to tell how far they've come.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
Way to go, Milt! Those in the industry know that "last, best and final" is strong language, and to demand it under such a short time frame is effectively death to the deal. It's about time the city dumped Eagle. I've got news for you - Eagle isn't the big dog everyone thinks they are. Though they operate under W & S, they don't carry the clout or the capability they should. This project belongs in the hands of a Neyer, Corporex (oh please, no!) or an out-of-towner. Milt's got the idea - move on!

Cincinnati: Downtown - The McAlpin
Awhile back there was a bunch of equipment in there that was being stored by the McAlpin developers. Don't know when they moved the stuff out, and if they haven't, my guess is that this has something to do with that, otherwise I'm sure we would have heard something.

Cincinnati: Downtown - The McAlpin
Yeah, but no one is going to drive Downtown to go to a damn TGIF. If they want to go, they'll go to the one in Kenwood or Hyde Park. I can't imagine the conversation: "So, where do you want to go tonight, honey?" "How about TGI Friday's?" "Great, it's right down the street!" "Hey, why don't we drive the extra 15 minutes to the one Downtown?!" If there's one Downtown, it'll be catering to the lunch crowd, end of story. Plus, TGI Friday's?! Yuck!

It is separate from the McAlpin - don't know what's going on there though.

You can't be serious. :-o Since when should a shelter be given money to ensure their population a comfortable place to indulge in vice? Rando, I sincerely hope that you found this article in the "funnies" section of the paper.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
This isn't the end of the world. There are many win-win situations here. I propose the following: 1) The land in question isn't essential to the project, so it won't hold up initial construction 2) If Carter wants it so bad, they can partner with the NURFC on it. Carter gets development rights for free and gets paid accordingly. The NURFC then ground-leases the land to the two restaurants (NURFC must sign off on design and the tenants) that are built and splits the profits w/ Carter. 3) Seems cost-effective and a long-term income generator (rather than the one-time $1M boost) for the NURFC that otherwise wouldn't be there. That took me all of 1 minute to think up.

Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
Sorry, don't know where else to put this, but it's in the general area of Parker Flats: Condos to replace store BY KEITH T. REED | [email protected] A downtown institution will soon shutter to clear the way for more new condominiums on West Fourth Street. Contemporary Galleries, a furniture store that for more than four decades has dealt in stylish, unique décor, is being closed by its owners, Rick and Denise Mayer, who plan to retire. Mayer said that after 42 years in the business, he was already pondering an exit to travel, spend more time with his grandchildren and escape the 12-hour days he'd put in at the store for so long. His longing for a simpler life was put on a fast track earlier this year, though, when he got an offer to sell the store's building at 221 W. Fourth to a developer who he wouldn't name but said has plans for new residences there. "I had planned to probably give it up in 2009. We got some inquiries on the building, and we got some interest in it," he said. A sale contract for the building is already in place, though no closing date has been set. Contemporary will stay open at least through the end of February, running a 50 percent-off clearance sale and offering 40 percent off custom-ordered furniture. Contemporary opened in 1962. Rick Mayer joined the business three years later, was part owner by 1971 and bought out founder Ron Kauper in 1994. The store sits in a corridor already filled with new residential development: The McAlpin, a 62-unit condo development, opened last year two blocks east. Kinsey Flats, another residential project, opened in 2003 near the corner of West Fourth and Central Avenue. The Parker Flats condos are under construction on West Fourth. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080108/BIZ01/801080329/1076 This is the building for reference: http://www.contemporarygalleries.com/store.html

http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080105/EDIT0202/801050337/1022/LETT HAHAHAHA!!!! This is just comical. Can you picture a monorail riding around Cincy like it's f****in' Disney World? All I can think of is that Simpsons episode where Springfield puts in a monorail and they do that song about it. But seriously, wouldn't a monorail cost more due to elevating it rather than laying a couple rails in the ground? This post isn't worth the minute it took to type it.

Bottom line - this needs to happen and needs to happen before more YPs leave and ruin the city's future.

I'm just curious as to what this is based on? Moerlein has revived Hudepohl, and have since bought two more local brands from a Cleveland brewer, and I believe is in negotiations for a few more from a PA brewer. See the article in the most recent issue of Cincinnati Gentlemen, Greg Harden (the owner) is interviewed and he talks about it more at length.
