  1. Ok- so it’s not gonna be a tall building and won’t rival Key. But that’s a nice chunk of the Parking Lot District which will no longer be a parking lot, and I am absolutely ok with that. Also, we don’t know if there may be.a taller building put on the site in a future expansion, as said in @KJP article. Additionally, there’s other buildings that @KJP has stated in the past articles which are in the planning stages which will even further dill in the Parking Lot District, as a direct result of SW staying downtown. Besides Key, TT and 200, the western part of downtown doesn’t have the same density as the buildings along E. 9th. This will help fill in a large gap. Hopefully (and the city pushes for) a design with the pedestrian in mind and is inviting to people to come visit.
  2. Hopefully just a rumor to throw you off @KJP... However, wasn’t the CEO looking at the Goodyear campus as somewhat of a model since the company is “conservative”? Everyone is hoping for a tower- but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
  3. ^I believe both the Hilton and the FEB tower were as well. It would be nice to have a 500 footer on that site though.
  4. Would the stadium actually be able to fit there on land not already claimed for another use like the breweries? I actually think having the stadium there would be a great idea. Imagine the barges going by during a game as well!
  5. A Public Square address demands something great- I would doubt that the images are what will be proposed in the end.

Seems like this will be the era of 1970s Indians uniforms for the Cavs...
  7. The answer has to be with the site's future redevelopment- I don't think there's another logical explanation for it.
  8. That would definitely be cool, just like the Flats East Bank sign that you see when facing the East. Edit: I would love if it were bigger along with being on top of the taller building in the development as X stated. There has to be money for that from somewhere if the developer doesn’t have it.
  9. Browns D came through without Garrett- four sacks from Vernon! Ugly game but a win is a win.
  10. Really liking the night time lighting of Prospect between E.9th and Ontario. Very bright and makes a huge difference.
  11. ^St. Clair in the 200s would be Euclid... which pretty much starts at E. 200/St.Clair. I could definitely see it along Rockefeller Ave., which was my first thought when reading they’re looking for a site between 15 - 30 acres. But wouldn’t that site throw a wrench in the soccer stadium plans? I think there would be pushback from any council person who has this proposed close to a residential area. There might be that amount of space along Bessemer between E. 79th and E. 93rd, which may be far away enough from any residential communities close by. That area is pretty much industrial.
  12. Too many of these for me to even be bothered by Burke. Every single surface-parking lot should be filled in- along with across the river before closing down Burke should even be considered.
  13. Eminent domain may take a while... I remember hearing that the Mayor would be unwilling to do any other eminent domain cases since after the East Bank hearings. In the short term if folks want to see the building and site cleaned up, I would recommend calling (showering with calls, really) Building and Housing at 216-664-2282. With the amount of investment occurring at the intersection and on down Detroit, the City should be on the owner about cleaning up the site.
  14. ^And Main Ave., which of the three would have the best view in both directions, IMO.
  15. This would definitely add to the density of the neighborhood- glad to see they’ll be utilizing the subway entrance!
  16. This may be somewhat off topic- but if CSU builds on those lots, there will have to be a greater campus police presence on Payne. I haven't been down Payne during school hours- but there have been folks who congregate on the tree lawn of the lots and at the Campus International School door that faces Payne. I don't know if its a family shelter or just a shelter for women- but the shelter faces the parking lots. I know this is the city and that shelters have existed downtown in different locations. I just remember feeling uneasy about seeing the folks who were at the shelter and congregating in front of Campus International specifically, due to potential mental health issues and the new school having children on campus.
  17. ^Well yes- we've had The Lumen, May Company, The Bacon ( 🙂 ) CAC, etc. all come online at around the same time. Then there's the The Avenue (under construction), the Huntington Building, and the new apartment building across the street on Euclid which will be under construction soon. For a market Cleveland's size, that's a large number of units to absorb. However, developers have pretty much used up most of the conversions from office to apartments. We'll be seeing more new builds of apartments (and hopefully condos) in the future. I don't think getting to 30,000 will take long for downtown.
  18. Student enrolment is definitely an economic driver, so the more the better.
  19. So THIS is what Sheila has been up to... glad to see this get off the ground 🙂 Construction to begin on new houses in Hough neighborhood, to help revitalize long-distressed area Updated 2:36 PM; Today 1:57 PM CLEVELAND, Ohio – Six houses set to go up on Cleveland’s East Side neighborhood may seem like a relatively modest development, but it’s part of grander ambitions for the city’s long-distressed Hough neighborhood. Developer Sheila Wright said at a groundbreaking ceremony Sunday that she hopes to start construction on the homes at East 65th Street and Linwood Avenue, north and west of League Park, before the end of the year. The homes will be in two layouts: 1,800 square feet and 2,200 square feet. The development is dubbed “Allen Estates,” after Carolyn Watts Allen and Robert Allen. Both built homes in Hough in the 1990s and advocated for the neighborhood. All are set to be owned by Black residents. https://www.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2020/10/construction-to-begin-on-new-houses-in-hough-neighborhood-to-help-revitalize-long-distressed-area.html
  20. ^^^119 Acres in Brecksville- that's a huge site. I don't know if there's 119 contiguous acres available in the City. I'm happy that they're staying local, that they're building their headquarters on the Jacobs Lot (FINALLY), and that we can expect spin-off projects downtown. It's a win for everyone involved.
