  1. There is a huge empty lot fronting Lakeshore in Euclid that remains undeveloped in between some of the high rises that were built in the 70s. Hoping that gets developed someday with another high rise. That’s probably the only location outside of Cleveland I’m rooting for at this point. If every project in @KJP’s list is built in downtown and Ohio City, I could only imagine what the core of the region would look like.
  2. If they leave, it’s officially bye-bye East Cleveland. The state will definitely have to step in; this couldn’t have happened at a worse time.
  3. I doubt the city's population has increased by over 50,000 since the last census. Even with the growth in the typical neighborhoods we all know of, much of the east-side has been in free fall for decades. That decline has only gotten worse over the past 10 years. There are fields now where neighborhoods once stood in places like Kinsman/E. 55th. There are empty fields now lining St. Clair in Glenville and Collinwood. There's empty lot after empty lot along many residential streets on the East-Side where your typical Cleveland Double once stood. The density is gone and much of it will need to be replaced in more than just the inner West-Side and Little Italy. My hope is that the gains in the few neighborhoods where growth is apparent will offset the losses experienced in the east, and that the city might actually see a small amount of growth for this census. This has been going on for the last 70 years now; but I think the local economy has finally restructured itself out of the over reliance on manufacturing, just based on the numbers (at or below 12% of the total economy for the metro; compared to over 30% in the 80s). With the economy growing in health and education there will come more jobs and more people. That's what's happening now, but it will take time.
  4. Looking nice ?
  5. ^If on the square, at that angle a tower would definitely fill in the gap.
  6. I think the majority of the units will actually go for market rate, while some units may be subsidized. And they’re across the street from Olde Cedar on the other side of Central Ave., which were some of the first public housing units built in Cleveland. Regardless of looks (and the first two phases actually don’t look that bad in person- they’ll remind you of Tremont Pointe which is partially subsidized as well), the units are a HUGE improvement over what was there before. Edit- Central in general has gone through a transformation over the past decade; it is no where close to the deterioration, abandonment and destruction that was there 20 years ago. There are a few vacant lots left to be built on though- reason being that the neighborhood was pretty much completely torn down and built back from scratch, except for Outhwaite and some of the historic homes.
  7. Update on the new construction on Ansel. The building is HUGE- I’m happy about the size and the increased traffic to the area from this project.
  8. ^Right; there may not be a need for doubt on this.
  9. West side gets ALL the views... I swear. The skyline view from the Main Avenue Bridge is the best IMO. It’ll be even better when this gets built! And yes, I’m from the East and yes, I’m hatin’.
  10. Pic from tonite...
  11. A pic from right before the snow this week... this looks great from the ground up.
  12. That was the site of the old Commodore Theater, which I wish was never torn down... happened around the height of the Foreclosure Crisis. We’ll see what’s built in its place- anything is better than that grass lot.
  13. Just a couple more from this weekend off of my phone...
  14. A few phone pics from the last couple days...
  15. So even after the Kasich years, when the state cut millions of dollars which used to go directly to cities- causing many to raise their taxes to cover the difference... Ohio is still NOT in a position to cover unemployment for an extended period of time?
  16. .02% for Cleveland YOY for January 2020 over January 2019.
  17. So the numbers should be interesting coming up, to say the least. The numbers for the year look to have been adjusted- some months showing much less growth than last year's adjustment. January preliminary numbers came out yesterday- and most sectors were in negative growth for that month. That includes the Education and Health sector, though 1) the numbers are preliminary and 2) the number for the month was ONLY down -0.2%. The sectors which saw growth were mining/logging/construction, trade/transportation/utilities, leisure/hospitality, and other services not grouped together. Every other sector took a loss. We may have already been headed towards a recession beginning in January. The overall growth in the job market yoy in January was 0.2%. Here's the data... https://www.bls.gov/eag/eag.oh_cleveland_msa.htm
  18. ^The labor force numbers for Cleveland that are produced by the BLS have been a gripe of mine for years. I've come to the conclusion that they will always be inaccurate. The numbers to pay attention to IMO are the Non-Farm Wage and Salary Employment numbers. The Total Non Farm numbers show consistent growth over the last decade.
  19. Does anyone know if the garage has the ability to act as a base for a tower such a 515 Euclid? I guess it would be kind of weird being directly behind 200 PS but still...
  20. ^Ashbury is one street north of the historical part of Wade Park; the Councilman lives on Ashbury himself. I don't have a crime report in front of me but I don't know if Ashbury is that unsafe- that may be perception, which would be understandable.
