@KJP This is probably something for a different/new thread- but what would need to happen for construction prices to come back down?

^Seeing a 2% increase in Cincinnati is great- but note that Cleveland just went through that last year... only to have the numbers revised down 1% for many months of 2018 at the beginning of this year. From then on, I haven't been able to take the monthly updates on employment that seriously. Hopefully for Cincy the growth is real and not some sustained monthly statistical errors from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (say that 3x) like they did to Cleveland last year.

CSU could utilize League Park, and really should. The tennis court could easily be moved as well- if theres one thing CSU has, its land.

Buyer beware... maybe more-so for properties which are nationally recognized as historic. Seems as though this is self-inflicted, IMO. Grass with a fence? On Prospect and E. 4th? No chance, and I'm glad the City feels the same.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
^The net absorbtion was negative- a company probably left. Which one- who knows... doesn't mean the entire market is soft. I'll bet a beer that it's back up to around 90% by the next report. And back to Sherwin Williams... Cleveland Browns presented by Sherwin Williams announcement tomorrow ? Could it be the new face of replacing the Guardian currently on the side of their building? We'll see...

I'm 36 and this is the 2nd chance Cleveland has to Finish The Square in my lifetime (the first being the Ameritrust Tower), which tells how long it may be before the chance comes along again. As much as I would love for the Parking Lot District to be filled, a new headquarters on the Jacobs Lot could produce spin-off onto the Weston lots. I don't know if the same could be said the other way around.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
What are their names? Do they own the property they're in? If they are renting at the property and the police are called three (3) times for disturbances, the owner can be charged $100 for each subsequent time the police have to come out. That would eventually lead the owner to evict the problem tenants.

Record Rendezvous goes NO WHERE. That's history this town can't let be demolished. I'm hoping the project can move forward without the demo which in my view seems unnecessary. A parking garage is already part of the project. Theres no need for yet another surface lot on Prospect. The only purpose I can see for the lot would be for equipment staging during constructio, but that's a reach as well.

^Good to hear. And yes, this is Cleveland. But the town isn't run by manufacturing anymore, which takes up less than 12% of the regional economy to my recollection (last time I looked at the numbers). Thats comparable to many other metros nationwide. The economy here is definitely better structured to bounce back from a recession now than it was in 2008 or 2002. KJP- will you blog about your new info on NuCLEus?

In my dreamworld Hydro would be installed on the north side of the breakwall. There's the constant flow of water from the north which could turn generators.- Cleveland: Population Trends
Short answer: Yes. Fairfax, Glenville (even now), Collinwood, Euclid-Green, Hough, Union-Miles, Mt. Pleasant, Buckeye, even Lee-Harvard (which eould be the most stable of the bunch) have all seen massive disinvestment over the past 10 years. Theres still approximately 3000 vacant homes left in the city which need to be demoed- the huge majority of which are on the east-side. I feel as though the losses are being offset at this point by the gains on the west-side and the improving regional economy, so population loss should be slowing significantly. But the 60 year slide of the east-side is definitely continuing.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I was going to mention that Progressive more than likely has too much in sunk costs to move off of I271 at this point. it'll be years down the road before it can be justified.- Cleveland: Parker Hannifin Corp News & Info
Now come downtown dang it!- Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
June BLS numbers are out... shows we're up roughly 100,000 jobs since 2008. The region still has to make up roughly 58,000 lost since the 2000 peak though, And again, most of those jobs were in manufacturing; the region's economy is stronger now IMO. Hopefully the growth will continue and any loss in jobs from a recession won't take the region almost 10 years to recover.- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News

Found out today is J Gumbo's (next to Chipotle downtown) last day in business. They were struggling within the last few months and it was evident- but was one of my favorite places to go during lunch. Sucks. - Sustainable Cleveland
