  1. ^Im against the stadium move… but if they were willing to go to Minneapolis for the Super Bowl, then they can come here. All the more reason why the existing infrastructure should be utilized until Burke is closed.
  2. The most known secret in Cleveland is Griffin running against Bibb during the next election. Both seem to be on the right side of the equation at this point when it comes to the Browns stadium. It helps that Ronayne is backing the city as well. We’ll just have to see how things play out.
  3. ^Eminent domain wouldn’t be the best way, as the city wouldn’t be able to take the land just to give it to someone else for development. The land HAS to have value with everything around it in its location. I don’t see how anything gets developed on the land owned by Scranton-Averill without them signing onto a land-lease agreement where they retain ownership but allow for development to be built on the land. This is done in other cities all the time in areas of value (or increasing value). It CAN be done here.
  4. And that’s from Tower City; it’s obviously way less when the Waterfront Line is running.
  5. That's enough for me for Christmas!
  6. It’s 1.4 million sqft; I’d assume a developer could activate this building in one section, make money, then move onto the next section once further financing is in place if the entire 1.4 million couldn’t be repurposed all at the same time.
  7. Great news for Cleveland! Modular is a great way to fill the gap when it comes to getting new homes to market which are affordable. Other cities in the region have been looking into modular homes as well, specifically Maple Heights.
  8. Scooters, e-bikes, bicycles… the way to and from the peninsula without driving will adapt.
  9. So I was going by along the interstate and noticed green lights inside the building last night. At first I thought they may have been reflections and couldn’t tell if my eyes were fooling me or not… but they definitely look as though they were coming from inside the building.
  10. @KJP Do you know if there has been any interest in a developer doing a land contract on any of the land owned by Scranton-Averell Inc? Also- yeah... I wouldn't mind living there :-)
  11. It would be up to the City to enforce any measures regarding accountability.
  12. If Judge Pianka were alive, I don’t think the owner would have been able to get away without a hefty seven-figure fine and potential jail time, if the City brought the case.
  13. ^I think that points to a failure of CSU’s leadership, if anything. Case is growing, while CSU is not. And I hate that for CSU, as I went there as well.
  14. ^Or they could just remove it completely; it’s always been strange to look at. If there was never a floor there to begin with, why add a facade like there actually was one in the past which was demolished? Somebody probably remembers this… but why was this added to begin with? I don’t recall. But getting back to SHW, I can’t wait for the lighting! I’m guessing it has to be soon… maybe to coincide with the holiday lighting? That’d be sweet.
  15. I took my own pics a week ago before meeting at Johnny’s…
  16. 5,000,000 sqft would amount to a huge amount of land being needed. This isn't going anywhere close to the inner core of the region, save for if the County is willing to say forget the Browns and put this at the airport instead. Even the site of the proposed move for the Browns wouldn't have enough acreage for that amount of construction and parking. We'd be looking at land on the fringes of the region in order to compete, and I believe local leadership learned a lesson from Columbus and their ability to have that amount of land ready for potential development in order to draw Intel. It came down to us not having (or being ready to have) that amount of land at our disposal as a region. If they're looking at Ohio, there are already sites which have been chosen. Hopefully, leadership here will be able to snag this for a win.
  17. Pictures don’t do justice for the scale of this development. Well done!
  18. Paywalled, but interesting that the AG is backing the City of Cleveland in this. I wonder if this changes the tone of anything on the radio. https://www.cleveland.com/court-justice/2024/10/ohio-ag-seeks-to-intervene-in-cleveland-browns-lawsuit-over-modell-law-says-team-is-wrong.html
  19. ^^Or for a developer to negotiate a land lease to develop the section of Scranton which will never be sold off. That will be huge for Cleveland if/when that happens.
  20. I don’t think Downtown will just die because the Browns are leaving. And if I’ve learned anything… a plan is only a plan until the money comes. The City is actually getting the money for this plan and had to have known that the Browns moving to BP was a possibility. Reimagining the lakefront without a stadium is something which no one in the last close to 100 years has had the opportunity to do. With the added infrastructure connecting the lakefront to the city, we’ll just have to see what comes of it. My bet is that we’ll all miss the memories of the old Browns and the madness the current Browns have brought us over the years on the lakefront. There will be a stretch where the lakefront is barren without the stadium; but my guess is within five years of the current stadium being demolished, something worthy of a lakefront city will be in its place.
  21. I didn't know what city that was for a second from that angle! #progress
  22. Reminds me of the style of construction you’d see in the Wharf in D.C. Looks great from the street and adds a nice amount of housing units. I’m a fan 😄
  23. Saving money? Cleveland-Cliffs CEO says company might scrap planned environmental upgrade in Middletown Published: Sep. 14, 2024, 3:05 p.m. By Staff, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland-Cliffs is wavering on whether to move forward with plans announced earlier this year to decarbonize its Middletown Works, a decision it said at the time would keep 2,500 jobs at the plant and produce substantial savings. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2024/09/cleveland-cliffs-ceo-says-company-might-scrap-planned-environmental-upgrade-in-middletown.html
  24. ^It's the same story over and over again... I'm sure the former CEO lived either in Avon or close by.
