Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
I clicked the link- that wouldn’t be too bad! Funny though, the description of the project says, “The land sits above the Cyohoga River, looking across to downtown.” Details, people 😄

Though it’s the fourth tallest downtown, it can still be obscured at a close distance as well. Took this shot last night.

Cleveland: Glenville: Development and News
I can’t tell you how big of a deal the cleaning up of the National Acme site is. This is huge for the neighborhood, and I know that Mike Polensek began pushing for the cleaning of the site when his ward the ward he represents was expanded to include this part of Glenville. Without this funding, this site would have likely sat in the same shape for years to come as the cleanup costs were always very high. Great news and thanks @KJP for getting this out there.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
If BP isn’t a given, then the idea seems less desirable the more I think about it. So the current site has: 1) Existing infrastructure for parking 2) Multiple Shoreway exits for access 3) An existing stop on the Waterfront Line in front of the stadium 4) An existing stadium, needing renovations 5) Existing open land directly to the north which could further the “Fan experience” through development (said development not including the Rock Hall and the Science Center) 6) Existing restaurants and bars in close proximity The existing site does not have: 1) A dome, and seemingly never will until Burke closes. Is newer always better?

Good points- the interchanges would require infrastructure dollars from the state, which would need to get moving to get things up and running prior to the opening of the new stadium. Of course, without getting the hard commitment to BP, who knows.

Lakeview Terrace, the Euclid Beach Gardens, and the trailer park on Lakeshore (which was for camping trailers as part of the original Euclid Beach and then made a trailer park after its closing) were built during different eras and wouldn’t be indicative of any current demand downtown where FES is.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I don't know if anyone can truly say they know there is no demand for any housing/retail/office where FES is now because this location has only had one use - a stadium - for close to 100 years. We all know there is demand to live downtown, and this would be the first time this site would potentially be available. I believe that the uses, form, and scale of any build-out of the site would depend on leadership from the city.

^😄 See? The possibilities are endless! Frank Jackson’s dirt track may see light after all 😄 It will be a blank slate for the first time truly since Muni was originally built. For the first time since 1931, we have the ability to dream bigger and literally out of the box when it comes to where FES is currently. Tax revenue can be made back, and Cleveland will not die because of this. Maybe the sports psyche will take a hit, but other than that- this could be a great thing for the city in the long run.

So I guess I'm saddened by the loss of the Factory of Sadness on the lakefront. However... how many times in our lives have we gotten the chance to truly reimagine this plot of land on the lakefront? This could become anything; and if the right amount of housing is there or on the Muny Lot as @KJP mentioned, there won't be a loss on tax revenue for the City. The possibilities are exciting, and right next to the soon-to-be-gone Burke (which I'm not that big on being developed, but that's just my opinion). We'll see what comes of this when the time comes.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Scranton Peninsula could be developed without a transfer of land, if the owners were willing to just do a land lease which is more common in other larger, denser cities. I would hope that at least one developer has approached them to see if they’d be interested in leasing the land for development. I’m with those who don’t see the need to develop the airport land while we have not just areas of downtown, but neighborhoods which have lost much of their urbanity in the inner city. There are fields now along St. Clair, Superior, Kinsman, and other main drags. Developing Burke won’t bring those areas back.

Cleveland Development Map
I won’t be surprised if there are even more condos proposed in buildings which were office-to-apartment conversions. The demand has been there for a long time, and there are still very few new-build condos.

I found it... by God I found it... finally... It's been close to 40 years since I heard this jingle. I was a kid in the mid 80s- my Dad was still alive so I had to be maybe 4 or 5 years old. He just made a bowl of this hearty stew which I was eating. I looked out of the window- the sun was out, and the snow was melting. I remember it just warming up that day (relatively speaking- it was probably early to mid-April), and it really was actually a beautiful day. And this jingle came on...

Cleveland: Population Trends
I don't remember this either. If anything, you'd hear what street they were from. My Granny lived on E. 112th off of St. Clair and there weren't too many people who rented on the street. She kept her house up as did the neighbors and there were always flowers in her flowerbed in front of the porch. She left the house to a cousin who didn't pay the taxes. The taxes on the house was sold to an out-of-state investor who then foreclosed and took title. The house is now sitting and rotting away.

We still have the surprise of what it’ll finally look like in person when it’s lit... that and the hopeful scoop about SH2 whenever that may come.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Hold up... Let's wait and see what it is that Bedrock is planning regarding what the stop will look like. I like everyone else presumed (and hope that one day) it would be in Tower City. A stop before Tower City may not be so bad though. I know this is on the opposite side of where the stop would be located, but just to keep an open mind... what if the stop was as significant as the B&O stop?

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
I remember the good ol’ days when rents had to be above $2.00 to $2.50/sqft to justify a new build, which was the reason why we saw so many office conversions. Cleveland has grown way past that point. Unfortunately, so has the cost of everything else.

The Cleveland Labor Force numbers have for years not coincided or matched the actual total Nonfarm count- going back to at least 2004. You'll typically see a divergence of 50,000 less people between the Labor Force and Total Nonfarm numbers. The gap has never made sense to me.

Don’t know why I didn’t notice before- but how long have the red lights been up on the crown (and what are they actually for anyways? I always presumed they were for some type of aviation purpose)? I have to admit I got excited when I saw them as the actual lighting of the crown itself may not be too long in the future.
